Not sure why. We’re bottom 4 with or without him, better to take that money and sign a player actually worth what he’s on.

We cld find a solution that wld perform equally well for a fraction of the price

A solution that combined with what we are paying him to leave would come in less than what he costs us to keep him?

He says that HE is not happy..so why shld we pay a significant premium for him to leave?

Where di he say that?

It's been said on his behalf in the media. Nothing stopping him jumping on social media to say it's rubbish. His silence is endorsement. You might expect undermining a coach by BJ Leilua, but it cannot be tolerated by our halfback.

What I have heard is there are members of Luke's family that would like him to move on but Luke himself wants to stay.

If he wants to stay he needs to publicly back the coach. I've never been in the 'hate Brooks' club, but man am I sick of players undermining the coach/club.

What’s backing the coach publicly going to accomplish. There was a time Farah backed JT, which was clearly rubbish. Anything that is said publicly carries little weight.

We just went through very public turmoil over who our coach will be, and we decided to stick with Madge. It is just not good enough to then have it in print that Brooks doesn't want to play under Madge, and for Brooks not to deny that. Even if it's just for appearance!

I don’t think he’s under any more obligation to publicly back Maguire than any other player.

Luke grew up a tigers die hard. When they were coming through the ranks mate told me about them and I googled Brooks and Moses. I ended up on their Facebook page and they were arguing cos rooster beat tigers and Brooks was calling Moses a f**kwit. Brooks was the only one of the 4 that was a tigers "fan" and I think that also had a lot to do with him staying even when the others left. Remember dogs wanted everyone but Moses. Moses was a roosters fan, Woods manly and Teddy a roosters fan.

Of course there is - he is the subject of the story. If it was reported about anybody else I would expect it of them too.

It’s better to just ignore it instead of giving the vermin who write it airtime. Could you imagine if every player who has rubbish printed about them made a statement debunking it? It would be never ending. I think Sheens statement is confirmation that it’s crap, so nothing from Brooks should be needed now.

Wests Tigers statement on Luke Brooks

Wests Tigers Director of Football Tim Sheens has issued the following statement regarding halfback Luke Brooks.

“Luke Brooks is contracted with Wests Tigers until at least the end of 2023 and, contrary to media speculation, will not be leaving the club.

“Luke is a proud local junior and an extremely talented halfback, who has shown an unquestionable level of commitment to Wests Tigers over a number of years. It is clear that he remains an integral part of the long-term plans of Wests Tigers and, in speaking with him, he too is equally focused and passionate on delivering sustained success for the club.

“Wests Tigers have been definitive on this matter and will continue to reiterate this against any untrue speculation. It is unfair on Luke, his teammates and family, as well as those involved with the club, to raise false conjecture on his future lying away from Wests Tigers when both he and the club are united on delivering success together.

“I have known Luke for a long time and am continually impressed by the way that he carries himself both on and off the field. I look forward to working with him again to give the proud Members of this club the performances and results they deserve."

Sorry, didn't realise this had already been posted.

Luke Brooks and the Wests Tigers have an awful relationship and need to be separated

The fact the club thinks he's the clubs best player and will do anything to keep him pretty much explains why we haven't made finals in a decade

Wouldn't have lasted 3 years at Melbourne. They'd give him the Croft treatment

Or maybe he’d excel

Maybe, but his football IQ and decision making is just not good enough. Melbourne halfbacks take control and lead their teams around and he just doesn't have that in his game. Maybe at 6 he would be okay but you can't be just okay there.

I’m sure Bellamy would give him the proper education.

Doesn't work if the player just doesn't have the brains for it, look at Croft. We will never know; but I know if he had two seasons like he's just had for us at Storm or Roosters they'd dump him as soon as they can. We award him player of the year and push every possibly suitor away!!

Why is what they would do relevant to us? Your point seems to be we aren’t them. Guess what, neither is almost every other club.

Because if smart and successful clubs would dump him that probably means he's no good... we make him one of our top paid players, captain and player of the year instead. We suck and he sucks is the point lol

How disappointing. Rinse and repeat. More of the same. He just can’t control a game. He tries ( except for the Dogs game) but this is professional football and results matter. We just have to change it up. Well , I thought we did

The Godfather has spoken

Interesting that is the 1st thing we hear from him.

Making his intent clear if nothing else. It's going to be interesting to see how much influence he still has.
