Luke Brooks

Sheens statement articulates that the club are unified in its decision making and possibly averts any crisis.
We of all people should know how the media - including social media - can be significantly damaging and pose further threat or harm to our brand/operations(including recruitment), so it's good for PR management.

I appreciated the reference to Luke's team mates and family. It's especially gotta be hell for them and his words are also rather respectful to them IMO.

If Brooks was a QLDer would they back him as they continue to do?
Whenever he is under pressure they wheel out their favourite diatribe detailing how he is a local junior. This shouldn’t matter as much as it seems to.

Brooksy just needs a bit more around him , he does make plenty of errors but he loves this joint with all his heart

Plenty of errors lol .... he's a walking catastrophe, need a wrong decision at a vital time....he's our man

You have to laugh!
“I look forward to working with him again to give the proud Members of this club the performances and results they deserve”
Like the performances and results he has delivered the last eight or so years?
Like being the worst captain we’ve ever had and tanking in our last game?
Pull the other one, Sheenious. 🤣🤣🤣

Good on Brooks for staying
Contrary to most people on this forum I think he still a capable player. Sure he had some crap games this year but name one player in the team that didn't - all players need to pick up there game not just him. In my view there are quiet a few players much much worse than him. You could go through pretty much the whole team and pick holes in them if you wanted to

Anyway Sheens has made his decision and one way or another you will have to live with it

Mwahahahaha EAT IT BROOKS HATERS! THE KING IS STILL IN THE BUILDING!!!

How much more harm could our brand experience?
We are already a laughing stock within the game and our recruitment department is disrespected/taken advantage of by all other clubs.
The only thing missing is an extremely well deserved spoon.
Next year…

If we dont want Brooks in 2023, he needs to go now.

I'd rather see us building for 2023, than trying to win a few extra games next year.

Again, nothing to suggest we don’t want him for 2023. If we don’t though, there’s reasons why you would keep him on. The main one being we’re already forking out money for Mbye to play elsewhere, so if we paid for Brooks as well, that would be close to a million dollars of the cap on two players playing at other clubs. Also, as @cochise pointed out, we have no depth in the halves whatsoever, and Doueihi is gone for the foreseeable future. That would pin everything on Hastings and Madden, and that would not be smart.

Absolutely, I agree it isn't smart.

But with the continuing controversy regarding Brooks playing ability, unrelenting bashing from Tigers fans and media, player of the year award?? Rumours that he's not happy playing with Madge. It never let's up! Can't be healthy for Brooks, or the club.

If there's any way we can move him on, even if not ideal.....

None of that matters in the greater scheme of things. Why should Brooks be punished if a few supporters don’t like him and newspapers target him?

Because he's the worst 7 in the NRL

Many on here may not have agreed with Sheensy’s statement on Brooks, which is fair enough, but i thought the tone was better than the club’s usual dribble. It was strong, clear and supportive and also carried a message that had a dig at the rumour mongers and knockers.
P.S. Just hope that the club becomes a no nonsense club and shows they mean what they say, whatever it is they say, and doesn’t back out or back down or change like the weather!

Sheens is the only cock in this hen house as they say.

Club issued a statement from Sheens

Wests Tigers statement on Luke Brooks

Wests Tigers Director of Football Tim Sheens has issued the following statement regarding halfback Luke Brooks.

“Luke Brooks is contracted with Wests Tigers until at least the end of 2023 and, contrary to media speculation, will not be leaving the club.

“Luke is a proud local junior and an extremely talented halfback, who has shown an unquestionable level of commitment to Wests Tigers over a number of years. It is clear that he remains an integral part of the long-term plans of Wests Tigers and, in speaking with him, he too is equally focused and passionate on delivering sustained success for the club.

“Wests Tigers have been definitive on this matter and will continue to reiterate this against any untrue speculation. It is unfair on Luke, his teammates and family, as well as those involved with the club, to raise false conjecture on his future lying away from Wests Tigers when both he and the club are united on delivering success together.

“I have known Luke for a long time and am continually impressed by the way that he carries himself both on and off the field. I look forward to working with him again to give the proud Members of this club the performances and results they deserve.”

Outstanding. Not because one agrees or disagrees with the sentiment, but because the statement has been made with firm conviction. Finally a statement from somebody at the club who doesn't sound like they are way out of their depth. Maybe we have finally filled that leadership hole.

Agreed 1000% - finally someone standing up and calling out directions for the players and the club

You do realise Tim Sheens is the man to whom you are referring?
People seem to have very short memories.

Maybe if you didn't focus on the thoughts of others it wouldn't be bothersome for you. There's also something wrong with the fact you've taken a swipe at my post because you can't control it.
I'd for once like to support my team without having to deal with negative and passive aggressive people.

…and I would like to see my club succeed.
Sticking by a halfback who has failed for 8 years consecutively is not going to achieve this.

All I’m going to say on this is, that the brooks haters swore vehemently that no other NRL team would have him in their top grade , let alone pay him the money he’s on "……. Yet in the last 3-6 months we have had 4 teams openly hunt for him , and most willing to pay the necessary freight to get him .
So yea . Anyways back to the echo chamber . I wish you kept it in the brooks thread though , makes it hard to track real info .

You mean Brooks Manager Isaac Moses, who has been officially discredited from the NRL, has fabricated interest

We can only hope that Hastings can at least complete at a nrl level and show a higher degree of football intelligence..... then we get 20 cents in the dollar for Luke because we trusted him again

Good to see someone from the club finally take on the morons in the media. Maybe they might think twice before publishing their usual garbage.

Hastings 7 madden 6 if brooks goes

That would be the worst halves pairing in the comp by the length of Flemington straight.

Yet still miles better than the Brooks 7 Madden 6 we finished the season with

No it isn’t. You can’t claim that a player who isn’t even a proven NRL player would be a better option.

Well Brooks has proven that he's definitely not an NRL standard player so I will back Hastings

You might wanna read Sheens press release. It’s clear who he’s backing

All the more reason to punt him.

Yes Like a Wally Lewis or Johnathan Thurston. Unfortunately we have neither and he will continue to stink it up.

His supporters would complain JT or Wally aren't giving him control of the team

Are you comfortable trying to bully a woman?
Why engage with someone who you clearly disagree with, for the simple sake of an argument?

I am not bullying you in any way, shape or form. This is a discussion.
Bravo on playing the gender card though…

My comments were only about the statement Sheens made and how it's beneficial for the club's PR, but you made it your mission to be argumentative despite me also stating I didn't wish to be involved in negative discussions.

I have merely provided an alternate view.

All discussion is either negative or positive in whatever eyes you see it .As long as its not personal or derogatory then its a view all are entitled to have

Hastings likes to talk on the field so thats one up on brooks to start .but how he goes bout it with the players will be interesting to see .especially if we start stringing bad games together .it's his long kicking game we need most .

What Loklok said is 100% correct. Brooks has never been a leader , only a player. Hastings will naturally take control , allow Brooks to run & play footy. If Jason Taylor had of been a hair on a coaches butt crack would of realized that Moses should of been moved to half & Brooks to 5/8 . I,m not defending Brooks but is a better free spirited player & never was or will be a game controller .
