I think he’s been strong in defence! Every now and then he bends someone in defence, just needs to do it more. I also agree he’s not the type to do dirty hit ups out of trouble. But I think we can use him more in attacking. Use him like a kikau is close to the line! He can break a tackle. Hopefully this comes the more our combinations play together, I feel like we don’t use our edges as well either.

Comparing Garner and Kikau ?

We can compare Garner to Kikau now after last night. I know who I'm preferring.

One hot day don’t make a summer. Panthers won 27 in a row, we’ve won 2.

27 in a row? There wasn’t a GF in amongst them?

Lol it’s unfair to count finals games when comparing with WT

It may be unfair but none the less true. They haven’t won 27 games in a row. They failed miserably in the one game that counted the most.

Maybe true but let’s be real, they’re a lot closer than us at getting back to that dance. I know this is a Tigers forum and I’m a Tigers diehard but some commentary on here after scraping home against their B’s is a tad embarrassing.

Meh, 9 of the 17 players that trotted out for Penrith on Friday night are still regulars in a team that were undefeated until that game, they were used to winning and we stopped them dead in their tracks

The wonder boy Burton was average and I was a bit surprised, Kikau and Leinu were quiet, chrichton who wouldn’t look out of place in the origin team .... we didn’t give him any space and frustrated him all game.
The only Penrith players who made me nervous were JFH and Edwards really.

On our game I thought we still could have played a lot better actually, still so many silly errors but the best thing was we actually defended them

Yes. But half an origin team did not play. Think about that for a while.

For where we are at it’s a brilliant result. Think about that for awhile

A brilliant result for us will be beating someone other than a depleted Knights, Dragons, or Penrith B’s.

a brilliant result is two points against anyone

For a mediocre organisation

Edit: let’s see how much we all love the turnaround after next weekend

Fair enough. I just don’t see how we can take that much out of a win against a side missing two origin halves, an origin winger and three origin forwards. It’s like putting 50 on manly in a trial without DCE and the Turbos. It’s a false dawn. Just being the guy who calls what he sees.

Mate we don't have a side that is going to play finals footy this year, in years like that there becomes a point where you have to take enjoyment from the wins you do get. Nothing wrong with doing that.

As someone said yesterday, maybe the Panthers need half an Origin side to beat us?

I’ll join the fan club if we beat Parra

Didn't realise the GF was 27 games ago

27 competition games, regardless comparing Kikau and Garner is still ridiculous

Not after Friday’s game, Kikau was ordinary imo and the team showed how to handle him.

Everyone is allowed an off night, he’s had plenty of the opposite. Let’s be real.

He's had plenty of very average games too. Guys now are handling him quite well. Dare I say T-Rex MK II? I hope not, because the game needs destroyers.

This season I agree has been down on last year, but I suspect that’s game planning improvements by Penrith (so they’re not a one trick pony) and he’ll come alive before the finals.

For where we are at it’s a brilliant result. Think about that for awhile

A brilliant result for us will be beating someone other than a depleted Knights, Dragons, or Penrith B’s.

a brilliant result is two points against anyone

For a mediocre organisation

Well if you get more doom and gloom supporting them than not I'm sure there could be much better ways to pass your time.....

100% watching us beat a top side with all there players would be a good start

so would winning a grand final, but we are where we are and finding negatives with a positive result for mine seems pointless. just my opinion

After 10 years in a row mate it becomes old, like jam sandwiches

Well the alternative is to let it get you down and become completely negative. Am I happy we are going to miss the finals again? no, but can I see signs of positivity for the future? yes. Will I let another poor year make me completely negative? no because what is the point in that.

I will take enjoyment from the positives the current team gives us and beating Penrith regardless of the circumstances is something I will enjoy rather than looking for the negatives and be as down and negative as I would be if we lost the game.

I’m happy with Brooks form. I’ll give praise where it’s due, just not rating that win verse Penrith B’s.

I think you can't dismiss the defensive effort of that win. It wasn't Penriths best but holding any team to 6 points is an impressive result for us especially with the lopsided penalty count and how many raids they had on our line because of it. It was a great team effort and a must win game.

Well if you get more doom and gloom supporting them than not I'm sure there could be much better ways to pass your time.....

100% watching us beat a top side with all there players would be a good start

so would winning a grand final, but we are where we are and finding negatives with a positive result for mine seems pointless. just my opinion

If you read some of my other posts like the ones on the sheens thread and the signing of Gildart, you’d see I’m not being completely negative. I love what Doueihi and Twal and Laurie are doing. I’m happy with Brooks form. I’ll give praise where it’s due, just not rating that win verse Penrith B’s.

And that is fine but you have been giving people a bit of a hard time for enjoying a win. We aren't a good team and the Penrith team was still much better than us on paper so there is nothing wrong with enjoying it.

If I gave anyone a hard time I genuinely apologise.

I dont understand the need to be negative or down play. We didnt scrape home, we were dominant. The scoreline during the game flattered Penrith, final score is probably pretty accurate. If the game went another 10 mins, we would have run away further. We were definitely on top.

Of course they had a heap of players out, but if they had 2 in would we have won, 2, 3?

There was nothing embarrasing about Friday at all, not even a tad. Our boys played well, showed improvement, showed toughness, resilience, they looked like they wanted to play for each other.

Things like telling people that the reaction to the win is embarrassing etc is a little unfair, it is just people celebrating a win which have been few and far between this season.
