Luke Lewis leaving Sharks....

Not 100% sure, but I know that they are settled where they are and have long term plans that involve him being with the sharks into post footy. But players don't always have a say in this I guess.

True, players don't always get what they want.
Cronulla are trying to move both Lewis and Heigninton onto greener pastures but no takers so far.
But they look like they have a much easier job than us.. we are trying to offload Moltzen and Rowe.

Lewis is very unlikely to leave Cronulla. He and Sonia love it in the shire and life after football looks likely at the sharks.
Wish he was a tiger, love him as a player.

It is very true that both Luke and Sonia love the shire but you can still live there and play for another sydney club.In saying that Luke is probably a serious injury away from retirement anyway, hence why (IF the story is true) the sharks want to offload him

The Shire's a hole. Nothing appealing about it at all to me. Being there reminds of the South Park smug alert ep.

Well they do call 'the shire' Penrith on the beach hence why Lewis has fitted right in

I don't mind the area, some inhabitants are wankers but.

I hadn't heard the Tigers were shopping Rowe around? Not sure why they would given he can't be on much money and he goes alright in a position where WT get caught out on depth.

Back on Lewis, as some have already said, he may not have a say in this. Cronulla probably suspect that he has spent some time on the sidelines in the last two seasons (granted his shoulder injury was due to the crashing into the fence,) and he now may become "surplus to requirements."

If this club is serious about changing it's approach to football, signing a current origin player who might have a bee in his bonnet about being moved on from his last club is a good bloody start. He was keen to impress at Cronulla when he got shafted from Penriff, he could well do the same here, especially in an area we are lacking quality. He would be handy to have around the kids.

LUKE LEWIS NAMED SHARKS NINES CAPTAIN
Auckland Nines Sharks
January 9, 2015Facebook0Twitter0
CRONULLA have named star forward Luke Lewis as the club’s captain for the upcoming Auckland Nines.
Lewis missed last year’s tournament after sustaining a shoulder injury in the 2013 World Cup, but is looking forward to tackling the modified format.
>
“I obviously didn’t get to play but I watched the games our boys played last year,” Lewis said.
>
“It’s hard for me to comment on what it might be like having not played in one, but all the boys said they enjoyed it.”
>
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan confirmed Paul Gallen will be rested for the tournament, along with Michael Ennis, Ben Barba and Andrew Fifita.
>
“We will put a real competitive side out there but I need to take into consideration we’ve got All Stars coming up, then we’ve got two trials after that,” Flanagan said.
>
“We’ve also got a few players in vital positions like Michael Ennis and Ben Barba that need to get some cohesion in game situations so I’ve got to keep that in mind when picking my Nines side.”

Very strange move by the Sharks if he's leaving… 😱pen_mouth:

Yep says it all. I know the off season can be boring and I know we are all desperate for some exciting news to come from the club, but can we please refrain from starting stupid threads about players leaving their clubs and players possibly signing with us when there is absolutely no basis to the rumours whatsoever!

Have to give the Forum something to talk about Flipp  .

But my mate saw him have a coffee with JT this morning, i don't get it

The constant speculation is driving me nuts, FT! I vote no more 'rumour' threads unless there is a significant basis to it. As far as JT and Lewis having coffee together, well maybe they're just old mates catching up.

NRL 2015: Luke Lewis isn’t going anywhere, says Sharks coach Shane Flanagan
MATT LOGUE
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH
JANUARY 10, 2015 12:00AM

CRONULLA coach Shane Flanagan has ended speculation the club is trying to offload veteran forward Luke Lewis by naming him captain for the club’s Auckland Nines campaign.

Lewis has been linked to a possible exit from the Shire, but Flanagan told the Daily Telegraph this couldn’t be further from the truth.

He said the Origin and Test star has excelled this summer and he wanted to reward him with the honour of leading the Sharks’ Nines assault, kicking-off on January 31.
\
\
“Not a chance he is leaving, Luke has had an unreal off-season and he deserves to be named captain,” Flanagan said.

“I’ve been really impressed with his application at training, so that’s why I’ve rewarded him.

“Luke missed the Four Nations, which was disappointing for him.

“But he has had some surgery (hamstring) and his training has been very impressive.

“It feels like when he first arrived at the club in 2013\. He had a great pre-season that year and it’s the same this year.

“It’s like he is a little kid again in terms of his enthusiasm, while his body is looking a treat.”
\
\
The Sharks qualified for the semi-finals in the inaugural Nines tournament last year and Flanagan is hoping his side can go one better in 2015.

“We’ll have a fair crack again this year,” he said.

“I’ve got some exciting backs like Valentine Holmes, Gerard Beale and Mitch Brown.

“They are those nines style of players and then we’ll throw some experienced names like Lewis too.

“He used to be a back as well, so he’ll be well suited.”
