"Madge has changed nothing": Tamou

Yeah.. he'll start the year but hopefully will be gradually faded out during the season to give those promising 19-21yr Olds a game or two.. hasn't been a lot of footy played in the last couple of years they just need some game time.. interesting to see how they go in reserve grade..

He looked trimmed down hopefully he comes good

IMO..Didn't think we did too bad in the trial. No title this year obviously but no wrist slitting either. Thought the young hooker and Dillon were very promising.. centre and front row seem an issue.. tamou defence is ok but offers zero in attack.. mickeali runs hard but is found wanting in defence especially laterally.. no talau, kepoa and douhi leaves that competitiveness for the centre position a little short.. positively the club looks like they're developing some good young middle forwards and outside backs so if we retain the good ones and a bit of luck 23 and 24 doesn't look too bad.. might be another rollercoaster 22 unfortunately..
Can I just say I love your handle: Corner Post - that says everything about the footy I know!

Madge has learnt his systems from Storm and seems to think that the same type of coaching will work in 2022. I'm sure Madge has changed and tried to be calm but the fundamental thing is that he can't seem to get the players motivated enough.

Our players just seem absolutely clueless. Heard Tamou say that "they want to keep things simple".. I'm sure it's just a throwaway line but seriously at NRL level, you can't just keep things simple.

I know it sounds pessimistic based on one trial, but I was actually quite surprised by how slow and weak we looked. Manly is a top 4 side but they looked stronger and fitter without even trying.

I've been saying this for 3 years. Wests Tigers are improving, we have come a long way since the JT days (as much as I hate Cleary, he's partly responsible) but the NRL and other clubs have improved and gone very far ahead of us.

I hope the NRL introduces some sort of a draft system, we need some freakish luck to go our way.

Madge doesnt need to change things as far as his coaching goes,he has had experience from a couple of good systems...Im not just being a big fan of Madge Im telling you guys how it is...

Our players and the guys that have been in the system for a while at the WTs are in a place of absolute complacency,it has been there for several years, the old we do as we like and if its not good enough ...sack the coach...same thing year after year, however some of the new guys respect Madge and his methods thats why Tamou always speaks about the players having to put in and not blame the coach..
the sooner some fans wake up to the fact that some of these highly paid wannabees start to perform like they have pride and dignity in the club and colours that expand to the huge fanbase and earn their respect, instead of waiting to collect the paycheck for appearing ,then the better off this joint will be..
year after year I hear Madge isnt the one.Potter wasnt the one ,JT wasnt the one and on it goes....start looking at where the blame lies...and its not the coaching but the playing group that need to do their job and have a good hard look at themselves as far as NRL playing goes....

Madge will be lucky to last 6 weeks, nothing has changed.

Same lack of interest shown by players, stagnating attack, same robotic bench rotation and even leaving an injured player on the field when there is unlimited interchange, and then conceding a try through the gap he left.

All part of flying under the radar😳

We are like an animal playing dead but ready to strike😂

If that’s the case it will show that this club is indeed the biggest joke in the NRL. We had the chance to cut him loose after the Dogs debacle, but gave him a reprieve. If we sack him after 6 weeks, we will have robbed a new coach of an off season, and this year will be a write off. I mean, it already is, but you know what I mean.

Can't stress too much until round 1, then I'll be sharpening knives. Honestly, too many years we treat trials like grand finals so I don't want to buy into it yet.

I supported Madge all of last year but started to waver. I'm back to neutral, concerns were really that the cattle are small, slow and not aggressive and this hasn't changed. There is only one of those things the players can control, and that's the aggression- they have to up the intensity or we are cooked.

New coach won't do much other than generate a few fluff pieces on Nofo, Liddle and Brooks feeling the love again.

I thought we did ok . We were playing a potentially top 4 side at close to full strength, while we were missing a few of our best. We dominated most of the first half and could easily have lead at halftime. Second half of trials is always a bit of a mess with lots of fringe players coming on and off.

I’m not going full chicken little just yet.
We did just fine. A few disallowed tries, one that should have been pulled up for Manly... that's a close score for the real trial. Wait for this week when Hastings has a go, then we'll have more of an idea of what we've got going. How would Manly have gone without DCE?

Agree, but it takes an exceptional coach to get the tigers out of this. Is Madge exceptional? Did he build and mentor a team at South's, or did he just get lucky with his recruitment?

I can't say I've been convinced by his recruitment before Sheen's arrived.

Hoping it turns around..saw some good signs on Saturday. I guess time will tell.

If the stoppage rule has changed then this is going to happen a lot this year?
