"Madge has changed nothing": Tamou

We did just fine. A few disallowed tries, one that should have been pulled up for Manly... that's a close score for the real trial. Wait for this week when Hastings has a go, then we'll have more of an idea of what we've got going. How would Manly have gone without DCE?
Yeah considering we had 5 players out who arguably are all in our top 13 and 2 of them were or best players from last year I thought It was ok.

Put Laurie, AD, Hastings and Garner back in and we suddenly have a lot more strike power. Then throw in Talau, Blore and The Jet and it’s a vastly different team.

We obviously could have been better but I don’t think it’s as bad as old mate Creepy Crawley tried to make it sound.

Agree, but it takes an exceptional coach to get the tigers out of this. Is Madge exceptional? Did he build and mentor a team at South's, or did he just get lucky with his recruitment?

I can't say I've been convinced by his recruitment before Sheen's arrived.

Hoping it turns around..saw some good signs on Saturday. I guess time will tell.

Recruitment is an interesting one but seeing Sheens perceived impact here could just highlight the challenge Madge really had. He just can't do it all and the fact those all around him seem to keep supporting him indicates there is alot more behind the scenes that probably wasn't going on to better support him in the 1st place.

I actually think Madge was doing far to much for a coach and didn't have the right support framework around him.

This season he has some serious changes to support him - Cayless, Gardiner, Sheens, Kimmorley + training/high performance staff etc. This now allows him to focus on being the coach not an assistant, recruiter, pathways, defensive, attack, player conduit, full time coach, trainer etc

The focus on providing the right support over mateship has seen a serious transformation that occurred in the offseason to support him, which will take time but geez it's clear we are taking a more direct approach to support him.

Maybe the overall changes was actually driven by Madge when he went into the room driving some hard truths and clear statements with his job on the line asking for better support that was needed.

Fair points. You can't do it on your own.

What makes you say that?
A number of things ink, which I won’t detail. Media reports saying that he is looking more relaxed, yet in his post match he was defending his coaching. I could be wrong, but to me it looks that way regardless of his level of success. I hope I’m wrong, because if I’m right. I will lose some respect for the club. It’s a cruel thing to do.. give a person a job, without the infrastructure and manpower to do it well. Only now does he have the support he needs.
