Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

This is unacceptable. Defensive structure is horrible and our right edge are absolutely clueless. I’m a Madge fan but he’s lost the team.
We need new players no doubt but we should be competing harder than this.

Our forwards don’t run the ball hard, slow to play the ball it’s pretty much a training run.
Shane Flanagan is the only option in my view we can’t go to a rookie but Madge’s time is up.
These players know a bad performance or two more will do the trick.

I can't cop Flanagan

Yea he has lost the team for sure .they just seem to follow his structures in attack or defence .some of our players do have ability but it takes a good coach to bring it out and make it work tho .
Coaches available???

I hope Madge survives tbh we have to wake up and play hard.

James Roberts in a recent interview says "he loves the Tigers and he loves the club".

It's a phrase I am hearing again and again when players mention the Tigers.
Whatever Madge is doing, he is doing this one thing right. The players he is keeping onside.
Even Mbye who was on the outer, is being managed well.

Maybe Madge isn't managing the bench rotation well. Maybe there are tweeks here and there. But if everyone is saying "we like playing at the Tigers", and we are training hard. Then we are building well.

We see how Parra has been torn apart by infighting. We want players to stay with the Tigers and build their careers here. We want people saying were a good club because that will attract talent.

How many years has it taken Brad Arthur at Parra, ? Building takes time. Madge is getting the culture right.

Well many on here just can’t see it.
So slashing and burning is the only answer.
Well I agree with you mate and am sticking …. It may not be working but believe me we will get there.
If we change our course now and get a new coach AND he fails to get immediate positive results ….. we are well and truly stuffed. The media will have a field day and we’ll be in worst place than we are now.
This season is done and dusted …. If this time next season we don’t improve THEN and only THEN we have given the coach and his roster sufficient time ….

start blooding Madden and Simpkin and Simpkins for next year and Kei and other players

Sack him so everyone can see nothing will change, these players, minus one or two, are just taking the piss.

We seem to be off the pace early in games then show something when other sides are under fatigue or lose intensity. Something has got to give .we will either click or we keep going the way we are and Madge surely will be under pressure .although he has set foundations for the future .we have alot of younger players now but do we keep blooding more and more players ,chopping and changing like last year .It is going to be an interesting last few months for wests tigers

Sounds about right. We will have given him a fair shot by then and we will still be in the same spot. By that time we will have finalised our contract offer to Freddy Fittler and hopefully he'll put his money where his mouth is.

Madden is not first grade material , however if madge promoted half a dozen of the reggies team nxt game and it brings some combos then that could be the way forward

I was subscribed to this line of thinking but the atrocity that is the way this team is coached to defend (particularly in the context of the current rule interpretations) is putting us in a position that makes it very very hard to win football games.

It was pretty obvious in the dressing room prior to the game the players weren't listening to him. That's the end for Maguire.

It was also obvious after the first set of six that they weren't in the game.
Same failing defensive backpedalling structures every game.
Same failed players picked every game.
Same lack of cohesion in attack every game.
Delaying just further damages the confidence of any player that has any left.

Yeah, very noticeable. He gave a rev up, he even demonstrated the old 'find your shoulder' technique...and not a single one of them bounced up. They all looked half asleep.

Walters have the Broncs the same speech and some of them were bouncing off the walls after it.

His style just does not work anymore. They need a coach who can improve their techniques and offer real game plans.

You can call for his head for alot of reasons... But this game isnt one of them.

4 times Mbye was run behind because he, and only he, chose to defend into the middle of the park planting his feet and turning his shoulders into the middle, and singularly created an overlap. Only once was the try disallowed because Reynolds stepped out.

Twice Dewy did the same.

A desperation offload within our own 20m, yet not a single player desperate enough to jump on the ball. Play the ball errors in our 20m...

If we sack Madge we let these players off... problem is, we need to build these players or pay them to ride the pine. The cupboards are bare, well they arent entirely, but we dont need the future born into this sort of world, we dont want them to know apathy.

Madge might not be the answer. I personally doubt he can fully turn us around. Though I do believe he can be the coach who breaks them down to hand a competent and malleable squad over to the next coach.

Make or break the squad, they are mentally weak. Moving Madge on allows the players to shift responsibility to a man no longer with the orginisation. They need to find accountability down to the player.

Anyone that thinks sacking Madge now will make anything better is a moron.

What desperate loser would want to coach the Tigers after another coach is sacked mid contract? Changes are needed and I would definitely get the best defensive coach I could, but we are stuck with Madge.

Maguire is a defensive coach we have heard alot about it since he signed but the players are not adapting to his style at all .everytime we have played since the early games raiders ,roosters .I always questioned i dont think we can win .to change his defensive structure this time of year was not the answer especially when there has been no combination alignment of both sides of the ruck .the next 5 or 6 rounds are against equal opposition mayb except manly . We have the bye so TIME WILL TELL
