The club has sacked coaches in the past because players were sulking. I’m not sure they’re sulking but if they are, how will cementing this into club culture break the cycle?

It doesn’t concern you that Maguire has recruited or re- signed 90% of the team and can’t get close to getting them to perform

Despite their(the team’s) non-performing or incompetence, I believe we still have some rather apt attack oriented players who should be killing it in the current game. However it seems there’s an inability to effectively provide the right tactics needed to manipulate any of the team’s task constraints (to the team’s benefit), which is letting us/him down. We are unable to control and maintain momentum through lack of effort of key (our strike) players.
We’ve shown we can score at will but it’s only ever through certain individuals and not really a team effort. So players aren’t putting their hand up enough when the pressure’s on. At this point in time we should have established some different or various types of winning combinations or formulas, but there’s probably only 3 to 4 individuals that lift and come together when the chips are down.

Here's the question I can't get an answer for - why can Tigers score points, and often good points, but only when the pressure is either very low or very high?
**> They can score when they are desperate, and not just 2021, it happened in 2020 as well. They can also rack up scores against other teams who get lazy and don't put pressure on us.**

To me this is because WTs attack is insanely flat, which is in turn because of a lack of pace. When opposition defences try to come up, then sit and slide it suits our attack because we often have someone straightening up or cutting back inside. But if they get up in our face, there is zero time to create and the play usually breaks down, good teams recognise that we can't burn you on the outside so they just have to rush up the middle and jam in on the 3/4 line.

Also I think they can score points at anytime because the team conditioning appears good, but the attitude on defence is just non-existent, if they spent some more energy in defence they might not look as good in attack, but they also wouldn't need to score as many, catch 22, but I would prefer to see some pride in the defence if it were up to me.

No. I’ve been in a similar situation where I’ve had to sell an organisation with a poor reputation to burnt and new customers. Turn over a team which refused to get on the bus. Establish relationships with other businesses. It’s a long hard slog. Madge has had to work with what he’s had. We should be awarding him a medal of honour and courage for taking on the challenge, not hang the guy.

Scott Woodward must have the easiest job on earth. Packer - Fail, Mbye - Fail, Reynolds - Fail. Miss JAC - fail, withdraw Mitchell offer - Fail.

Scott Woodward joined Tigers in 2019. All those signings were pre-2019.

And @frullens is right - Woodward analyses players and makes suggestions, he doesn't do the recruitment. For example, you don't need an analyst to tell you Latrell is worth talking to, but he might have some metrics about Latrell that make for interesting reading.

Does Scott Woodward analyise the spend on players? For example, If we are buying x number of players from one manager, wouldn't it be reasonable to expect a discount? Basically more bang for our buck?

he basically comes up with a number that is a reflection of a players onfield output from how I understand it. Hartigan put a line in the sand and said he no longer wanted WT paying overs, so he grabbed Woodward to ensure it wouldn't happen again.

Looking at some of our players he must of failed basic maths. Any number times 0 (the output of a number of our players) is 0

Each to their own opinion, but I could not disagree more strongly with this point, he has had more than enough time to at least get the team to show some form of improvement, he has failed.
Keeping on blaming Cleary 3 seasons later is a cop out, and Madge and his excuses are a cop out as well.
You want to give him a medal, I want to give a one way ticket out of here, that is the beauty of opinions

I'm not usually in the fence but I am in this one.

I can see both sides of the argument.

Maguire has lost the dressing room but should we sack the coach or sack the senior playing roster who are sooking.

Guys like Moses, Brooks, Nofo and others have been here longer than the coach so I'd allot a little more blame to them before sacking the coach.

But a new coach may want to feature those players in his rebuild.

It's a messy situation and all parties are to blame.

That is the key point, we let Madge bugger around for any longer and we will have no money to spend and a real crap roster, he can't attract players, even when we have money

Maybe a solution is to swap roles between Sheens and Madge. i.e. Sheens takes over coaching and Madge covers what Sheed was supposed to do.

It's Benji! Just get rid of him and watch all this talk of player rest go away. Our defense will improve as well.

Who has said he has lost the dressing room? A couple of people on here.

Last week, they were saying Kevin Walters had lost the dressing room?

Haven't heard any players mention anything? No doubt, we are in a hole, but we are not a top 6 side yet? I don't think anyone thought we would compete in the last 4 games?

I believe we will get there and it is certainly taking longer than we all want, but imo, the club has to let him finish his rebuild. He has the experience we need, remembering we have been trying to do it for 10 years, it is not as easy as we all thought?

Don’t think we score 22 points in the second half if they aren’t playing for the coach. There’s always gotta be ulterior motives. It can’t be that we suck can it?

Yes, he was part of the recruitment team, but some of the recruits have turned out to be duds, unfortunately we don't have a lot of depth (and we have tried a few of the reserve grade) so there is not a lot you can now do, as in replacing them, they have contracts?
Just got to keep weeding them out, until our young blokes come good and we get some more players imo?

Not correct it’s Canberra paying the majority still it’s a major factor besides poor play there’s no chance of taking his option.

I'm saying it. He has lost the dressing room.

Players are not responding.

I'm no fan boy of the senior playing group. Most of them are imposters but right or wrong the coach has lost them.

Plain to see.
