He needs better assistants. Maybe he’s afraid to get a good one after Seibold white anted him.

Maybe bet better players first?

Why not both? Good assistants will help attract players.

I haven't changed my view. Time for a new coach.

Me either, I get Madge might be passionate and I love that about him, but for whatever reason the players are not buying in, the side is not as bad as the ladder position suggests.
We have never been good at attracting top line players, but we have missed quite a few on Madge's watch, it can't be a coincidence

Our roster is improving but boy with ….
Packer
Mbye
MCK
BJ Leilua
Roberts
Walters
Cini
Amone
And you can throw Mr Garner with that lot

…. we are far from settled into anything approaching top 8.
So bit of realism please.

Dont agree re Amone. He is a very good depth prop.

But yes, most of the rest are mediocre, which is something that Madge has identified.

You do realise that half way through the KOE cup that Cini had made double the run metres of the nearest player to him in second? That he was pretty much controlling the team from fullback that was purring along in second spot? With a lot of help from Cinis tough return metres from fullback? He’s a good player , FFS give him a go!

every single one of those players with the exception of Garner & M'Bye are all off contract this year. if we can spend that money properly we're going to be in a far better position than what we are right now.

Who do you think has first grade potential from NSW Cup?

I've watched about 5 & give a hope to :

Tumeth (this kid must be locked away, Tigers junior & reportedly has the drive/character to succeed with development)
Tuilagi (developing his tank nicely, good in A & D)
Cooper (just has footy nous/skill, great step & finishing ability, good strong D, lacks speed so centre looks his hope)
Ogden (just has that something about him that oozes gamebreaker to me)
Dillon (X-factor in attack, hopefully will develop in defence with age & experience, worth the punt to invest in)
Hoffman (professional kid, but I think his future will lie in the back row)
Pole & Tuifua (Jersey Flegg hopes that hopefully have the character & drive to keep developing)
PLUS our NRL players Simpkin, Simpkins, Madden (slow burn developer but I have faith), Kepaoa (centre only) & Cini (I think we need to give him a try at centre with his tackle busting qualities & ball skills - potential future back rower too, not enough x-factor for fullback as required in NRL).

Mbye gets a rough go on this forum. I understand he cannot play center he is completely and utterly useless. But after Magic round, everyone loved the idea of mbye at 6 and he has done some good things for us. He provided good service out of dummy half besides that one pass to the bloke in the crowd. I don't really rate him but don't get upset at madge for saying mbye has done some good thing because at the end of the day he has

The problem is that when he is not injured, he can't string good games together. I think lack of interest is also a contributing factor.

Glad you threw Garner in there. Flies under the radar a bit. Has one reasonable game then is not sighted .

I don't rate Madden, at all TBH. I don't see anything is his game that suggests he will be a first grader.

Tuilagi I am a huge fan of. He already has the size for firsts and will add to our back row compliment. Runs a great line.

Simpkin is good but not as good as some of the fan boys suggest. He lacks genuine speed which I like to see in a 9. I can see his development going the way of Michael Lichaa. Outstanding junior who doesn't quite have it for firsts. Hope I am wrong as there is a lot to like about him.

I like Tuki but feel he needs to show a bit more aggression when carrying the ball.

Ogden looks to have the world ahead of him but I have been burnt with kids like him in the past.

Cini is too slow for me. He is not an effective tackle breaker in firsts. He gets away with a lack of speed in reggies for this reason.

Cooper I could see turn into a decent squad player. He can fill a role and whilst he doesn't have genuine speed, he does a job wherever you put him.

I can't see a standout like we had with Lawrence, Tedesco and Nofa. Kids that just burnt up juniors at all levels.

Tuilagi and Tuki Simpkins have FG written on them IMO. The next lot of forwards behind them are in Flegg, with Mavoni (needs to get fitter) and a couple of others likely to kick on - provided they put in the work.

Backs for me are a bit thinner - I think we lack in the halves but have some promising centres/wings/fullback - Ogden is all class and looks the pick of the bunch to me. Scolari is a tough competitor who has the drive to succeed and the winger Jordan Hill is a genuine flyer and finisher who can go the length. Logen Dillon shouldn't be discounted either - move likes Papenhuyzen and has that elusive footwork and speed.

Cini and Cooper are not FG material. Decent at KOE but ultimately too one-dimensional to cut it in FG.

I believe one of the players from Flegg you named could play the Connor Watson role from the interchange. Tough, skillful, fast and with that ultra competitive streak.

The 8 players you mentioned, Madge signed or re-signed 6 of them, that is real enough for me, and he seems very unlikely to attract any better quality players either

There should be more types of posts like this .. most of us do not know squat about the lower grades but this post puts things into perspective with names and talent indicator .. things seem not as bad as many project .

Recruitment is like that with all clubs …. hit and miss and luck. I’m positive that We will get there with our approach but you go your way with your opinion. No problem.

Also many of those players were signed or re-signed post Madge were on the cheap. James Roberts in particular was very cheap. BJ was probably the only one of really good money.
