The coach has one job to do irrespective of the players he has at his disposal and that is to improve them. He has failed. Time to move on.

Those who *want* to improve are doing so. Stefano definitely improved as the season went on. Ken Maumolo did better the longer he was here. Daine Laurie was thriving. Doueihi was improving.

Converseley, those who had the attitude of bludging flogs, played like bludging flogs. That's on them. If our salary cap hadn't been so constrained, many of those bludging flogs wouldn't have been here.

Having got rid of most of the salary cap issues, we now finally have chance to start with a blank slate under a coach who has now done all the dirty work. But it looks like we are going to blow it, by a self-inflicted club crisis. Nobody would sign with us at the moment, because they don't know who the coach will be. And at least some of the players who had bought in to Madge's approach (i.e. those in paragraph 1) are no doubt now considering greener pastures.

Don't worry though, we'll get some L Plater like Morris or Ciraldo who has never achieved anything as a coach. That will definitely fix things.

Ken was a prime example of phoning it in yesterday

Madge goes Hardigan goes Pascoe goes imo, some of our most embarrassing recruitment rejections have come with these 3 guys at the helm. LHs input in the media hasn't helped us either.

I don't know about that. they're suffering from a legacy created by former playing groups and coaches and their performances. Pascoe is a good businessman and has turned us around off field big time, Hartigan is mainly responsible for our successes in the lower grades and unearthing Laurie, Stef, Blore, Simpkin and others and Madge has only fixed the cap this year. I think Madge is deservingly under pressure but they are all sufferers of the external perspectives of Wests Tigers. Madge and the assistants are under the most pressure, rightly or wrongly.

I would not be surprised if Sheens already has a new coach.

I would be amazed if he does since he has nothing to do with selecting coaches

How do you know?

I dont know, but i will stick by my comments and i am sure that i would be a lot closer to the mark than you are.Sheens is not here to appoint coaches. It is quite possible he will be asked his opinion but that would be the sum of his input.
Just as a matter of interest what would you say if Sheens said Madge is the best option?

Maguire is gone. Read our Chairman's comments and the timeframe is within the week.

Evaded the question didnt you.

I didn't bother answering it because you know very well Maguire is gone.

Depends if they decide Madge will be the scapegoat, somebody certainly will

Maguire is no scapegoat. He's been a disaster for the club.

Let’s face it the disaster has been our administration.

If they wanted Bennett and had a hand shake agreement why didn’t they close the deal?

Madge has run his course but with the club not wanting him there In the first place what hope would he of had?

10 day deadline to the SuperCoach.

There’s more than 1 head that needs to roll!

Can we actually do a proper search for first class administration and not appoint a bunch a novices into the top roles because we don’t want to do the hard work and search for longer than a week for an administrator?

Madge has only had success in the NRL with a team that had Greg Inglis (in his peak), Luke Keary and Adam Reynolds as halves (Legit perfect halves pairing), Sam Burgess (in his peak) and two hookers of Isaac Luke (in his peak) and a handy replacement in Api Korisau.

I am so sick of hearing about Madge being a "successful" coach in comparison to others, when this was almost 10 years ago, with a team that was destined to win a GF. Have you seen how the Tigers have played the last 3 years?

Pascoe and Hartigan conducting the review. Obviously it is not their fault & so Madge will be moved on.

i was at the game yesterday, i got there early to watch the warm up, i could tell from the warm up the team werent up for the game, there was no intensity in the warm up and the players were just going through the motions. I then watched the dogs warm up and they were fired up geeing each other up and hitting hard in the warm up it was so chalk and cheese..
This was not a good sign i thought, i was in the corner where Meaney scored his tries, after each there was not one player talking in the huddle not one!!! In attack no one really apart from Blore and Stef wanted to hit the ball up, Liddle was looking for runners and no one showed urgency in attack. I wont go there for defense as i will be here all day. A scrum was formed about 20 out MCK was looking around at the crowd showing no interest at all to which man to mark up to.
My parnter who does not know much about League said it looks like your team doesnt care and why is he looking around not caring. She then said who ever your coach is there not playing for him,
To Noffas defence he was actually cranky and getting up players in defense.
It is clear to me, they are not playing for Madge and have not this whole year, as David Riccio said SEN this morning Maguire is a good coach but he is not a good coach for the Tigers.
It was pretty clear on the FOX show that we dont have leaders and Madge has tried his best but clearly this partnership has to end now. The players must take some responsibility too, i know if i was getting paid a bucket load of money i would try my best for the employer who employees me.
Just my thoughts and please if a review is put forward do not have Pascoe anywhere near it!!

Thanks for the first hand observations , I am always sceptical when people say that tanked or didnt turn up etc .. but by the sounds of it , the players wanted to be anywhere but that field.

Based on those observations , not only should madge go .. but they should sack all the players - even if it means they have to play NSW cup players for next 2 to 3 years due to the payouts as it’s the only way to change the culture of the joint .

Reading that article my gut tells me Madge is gone and Pascoe is probably gone.

Gut tells me the same re Madge.

"There is a disconnect that exists at the moment and that is what has to be addressed"

Is this between Madge and Hartigan? Not on the same page re recruitment?

Madge said he wants to keep Jet.

A guy who did not show any sign worthy of being kept.

Brought in former souths average Joe's.. Zane & Amone.

Why wouldn't he bring in the good souths players . Guy stays loyal... as seen with the assistsnts and those guys are all duds.

Not good.

If we're not going to count premierships that have good players in the team, we're not going to be counting many premierships at all. Clubs like the Roosters have fielded teams where every.single.player is a representative.

Your joking about those 2 conducting the review right?

Just read this comment from Lee

When asked if the Bulldogs loss spoke to the impression that the players had quit on the club, including Maguire, Hagipantelis said: “There would be no reason why you could not form that impression on that performance.”

The Tigers Chairman added: “If nothing changes then the outcome will remain the same. It is just a matter of pure logic.

I’d say Madge is done

I won't say the buck passing in our Club never ceases to amaze me because quite frankly it doesn't..

None of them have mirrors....it's always someone else's fault...nothing will change only the names to protect the guilty...

As a fan all you can do is hope...the thing rebellions are built on...

Instead of back stabbing, back slapping and finger pointing..pull you bloody fingers out and do something for crying out loud..

Imagine a struggling club giving the SuperCoach a 10 day deadline to decide if he is going to leave his current club a year early.
Should of, from day one agreed to move on from Cleary internally, agreed with Bennett to start in 2020 and figured out the rest afterwards.

That's not the narrative though. There wasn't a guarantee Bennett would ever leave Brisbane, because it was a tug of war between him and certain senior elements on the Broncos Board.

Bennett said, now in writing, he was open to taking the Tigers position but couldn't honourably leave his Broncos side a year early (also contractually he's not permitted to). Now maybe Bennett is some mad loyalist or maybe he was forcing the Broncos' hand for a super-duper payout for his troubles, but whatever the reason he was hanging around until at least the end of his contract, and if he could outstay or out-result the naysayers within the Broncos, there's also a chance he re-signs with Broncos. Wayne Bennett is not a political mug, he's been at it for a very long time.

So I don't see anywhere suggested that Bennett was willing to sign on for 2020 with Tigers without knowing his exact future at Broncos. That was never the offer and I've never heard it said that Bennett was willing to come a year later. Bennett has only ever said "I can't leave the Broncos right now". And then, months later, Bennett gets the chop.

Well you can read between the lines. When someone says I want to coach you but I still have a year left with Brisbane and I’m not going to leave them without finishing the job does give an indication that he was ready to move on.

You can slice it, dice it anyway you feel.

The reality is the CEOs ego wouldn’t let his former mate leave the club with out being in a position to give him the finger in return.
Madge was appointed and Cleary was released.

Read the statements at the time. I’m pretty sure I read Pascoe quoted as saying we have an upgraded by appointing Maguire as the coach.

2020 was just not an option for our inept administration.

Yes - most ridiculous argument ever in dismissing Maguires premiership victory. Every premiership coach since it has become a professional sport has done so due to a nucleus of top quality players in key positions.

I don't think it's a question of should.. a week ago personally I would have stuck the course with him ...now given what has transpired and how the place operates he's gone..

That will not change a thing IMO...

Good luck to the next guy...

An explosive investigation on the Herald over the weekend claimed a rift existed between Maguire and the playing group, specifically naming maligned halfback Luke Brooks as a figure of discontent.

The Herald claims that mixed messages and inconsistent communication — harsh at times but not direct enough at others — contributed to Maguire’s alleged issues with some players.

Hagipantelis made equally pointed comments about the Tigers’ future in a conversation with senior rugby league reporter Paul Crawley, who wrote in The Daily Telegraph the club was “already on the lookout for a new coach”.

When asked if the Bulldogs loss spoke to the impression that the players had quit on the club, including Maguire, Hagipantelis said: “There would be no reason why you could not form that impression on that performance.”

The Tigers Chairman added: “If nothing changes then the outcome will remain the same. It is just a matter of pure logic.”

I think Madge is done given the performances over the back half of the season, where we had everything to play for. Yesterday was a debacle for a club that sets the lowest bar in the competition. Throw in the comments from the chairman in today's media, and he's gone.
Pascoe and Hartigan running the review doesn't make any sense, so I hope that it's bit of News Ltd nonsense rather than fact.
Hopefully we've done exit interviews of sorts with the agents/players that we've missed out on recently, and can pinpoint the issue(s). Almost hope that it is all on Madge, just so we can fix two issues with one move.
