Well believe it or not sheens is tigers most successful coach

He is our best coach no question.
And believe it or not Madge is tigers 2nd longest serving coach

Sacking Sheens was the right decision imo.

So how do you feel about bringing him back?

I thought at the time it was the right decision to move him on, I would have him as coach next year working with an up and coming coach to take over in the next 2 years.

That’s hindsight for you because sacking him clearly was a mistake.

No not really, what is right for an organisation at one point in time may not be the same thing 10 years later.

So tigers were successful without him?

Never said we were successful, I am a fan of Sheens. Just because things didn't get better does not mean the decision to relieve Sheens was wrong. It means the decision to appoint is replacement was wrong.

Ok why did tigers sack him?

I think going from predicted premiers to not making the finals may have had an impact.

Imagine if storm sacked Bellamy for missing one year of the finals?

Tim Sheens coached for 9 years at the Wests Tigers, we made the finals 3 times. The only 3 times we have ever made the finals and I am a huge Sheens defender, but the club needed a new direction and a new voice at the end of 2012.

Not to be picky, But he coached us for 10 years bud...

He also didn't make the finals for the 5 years he had coaching before he got to us....
He struck gold with the squad in 2005, And again when he got Gareth Ellis...
As soon as Gareth Broke down - We were shot.

He was a great coach for those young guys, Ellis is still one of my favourite Wests Tigers' players.

The Best player we ever had man....
Champion on and off the field.

I loved Ellis mate.

I think it would be a boost for the club to stick by madge, show the media they are willing to back the man they extended not even 12 months ago and let him have more time to see his plan come through developing the younger players and youth pathways. Move on some more deadwood over the off season and let him continue to build the team

I agree. I’m or 100% sold on Madge but I think changing coaches is going to send us back further. Surely if the game has passed Madge by as people are suggesting, then it has well and truly passed Sheens

Brooks hasn’t played any good for years.
Nothing stopping him calling that play any time he sees it.

Brooks would have to do it from the 40. He loves that little inside ball in the 20 or the I’ll kick it into someone’s legs move. Or kick it to the biggest guy on the field. Admittedly that only happened because he led the team to the wrong side in the previous tackles.

Maybe get Farah out there yelling at him.

Hastings will probably do it though so why bother with asking brooks to do anything inside the 20.

I'd agree he's the best forward we have ever had.
But the best player ever for WT is Benji. I don't think we will ever see anything like him again.

The really bad decision around Sheens last time was re-signing him too early. Then we did the same a decade later with Madge.

Would of went home to Penrith if we didn’t… Gould was looking at Sheens to commence his rebuild. Imagine if we decided not to resign him and picked up Ivan instead…

Possibly, and that's why we re-signed him. Basically penrith chose our coach.

He was never here for the long term, we need to develop into our players the love for the club that he lacked, the belief that they are the ones to turn it into the success that it deserves to be.
