What have wests tigers done to Brooks

Unravelled him slowly since Maguire began three years ago.

Brooks played well back then......

then Tedesco....now .....Laurie
then Farah....now....Liddle
then Ellis....now Lucey
then Lawrence.....now Talau...
just saying the difference in quality in the team in those years to now.....

Brooks built his game and was playing great footy, even with Maguire early on, but the deconstruction began with Maguire and has gotten to the point that he plays almost robot like to an unimaginative game plan that sucks big time.

Maguire has to go!

It's a pity sheens never got to coach him.

Who was the coach that year? @tony-soprano

Potter

Saying from what he's hearing, Madge is gone.

not dismissing it just because it's James Hooper, but he might be getting info from a source who is anti-Madge. same as how Brent Read says the longer this drags on the safer Madge becomes. it's going to be an interesting week in tiger town.

Yeah and the board resigned madge less than 12 months ago.

Everyone is responsible for where we are.

It's about how we move forward in the situation we are in.

That's just not accurate. Brooks had one of his most consistently good patches of form this year before he fell apart at the end again, but he's always been rocks and diamonds. While I hate everything about Cleary's reign, he did improve Brooks defensively and as an attacking threat. But Brooks never had a reliable kicking game and hasn't ever been good at organising. Even in his best year he was more highlight reel than the gritty leader and organisational stuff that we've lacked since Prince. I get people wanting Madge sacked, but doing so in the hope it will transform Brooks is fantasy stuff.

This just isn't accurate. Brooks had one of his most consistent streaks of form this year before it fell apart again at the end. He's always been rocks and diamonds, and sadly usually saves his worst for when it matters most. Cleary did well with Brooks, I ha

Likely we will soon see and I remain confident that my view is not the fantastical one.

I might be totally wrong but when you look at Sir Alex Ferguson career (watch Sir Alex Ferguson: never give in) seem a very similar coach. Hard nosed, culture driven. Had success in Scotland, appointed to a Man U with bad culture, invested in youth, several years of failure with fans asking for his head.
Perhaps Harry's recent comment on Madge is genuine, as that is what he is used to at the storm. If you heard Cheese's post match interview after their recent loss re the spray thats coming, and seeing how Bellamy throws bottles even when they score a messy try indicates these three coaches are of similar styles. Dynasty builders.

It looks like Madge achieved this with south's but some senior players obviously thought yup we've done it, job done and perhaps with the help of an ambitious assistant fuelling it, it all fell apart.

Im also hoping he survives and get a chance to continue his work. He will have to get rid of a few more that doesn't fit his culture, keep the focus on young talent and not make panic signings. He will sign the right players. Like Bellamy said, he watches prospects beyond skills, watching how they compete, players reactions to team scoring a try etc.

We have leaders in the next couple of years the likes of AD, Blore, Laurie, Stef even Seyfarth but unless you're a Cleary type, this comes with age, experience & status in the team. Most are still learning their craft and young. Sadly we will have to rely next year it appears to Tamou, Brooks Hastings & Nofo's dagger eyes.

When the current young guns average 23-24rys of age providing they continue to develop and we retain them and they become the core that dominate the culture.

Big call i know but I hope he becomes successful for obvious reasons 🙂

How anyone could watch that video and still want Madge as coach is beyond me.

It just makes me wish Tedesco never left

I don't need a video for that!

I agree. I’m or 100% sold on Madge but I think changing coaches is going to send us back further. Surely if the game has passed Madge by as people are suggesting, then it has well and truly passed Sheens

Do you see the two of them working together effectively?

If Sheens is here for development and pathways, not coaching then I can’t see it being an issue but who knows

I mean if Sheens is there for the coaching side?
As in a coaching director or equivalent.

No I can’t see that working well at all, but to be fair I don’t think any coach would want a coaching director above them..

But call for the coach to be sacked when we don't make the 8 with this team.

Hopefully in 2 years our Laurie will be a teddy and talau a Lawrence- but they need time to develop

Laurie won’t ever get anywhere near the heights of Tedesco. Let’s be real. And as much as I like Tommy, he’s not in the same universe as Lawrence pre hip injury.

So sheens has gone from

Development
To recruitment

To assistant coach

To head coach

To fitness and performancr

And is now head of sleep room at COE i guess 😅

Premiership-winning coach Shane Flanagan denies he is in talks to replace Michael Maguire as the head coach of the Wests Tigers.

Pressure mounted on Maguire throughout another disappointing season for the joint venture. It reached boiling point after the Tigers’ hefty loss to the cellar-dwelling Bulldogs in the final round of the season.

The likes of Paul Green, Cameron Ciraldo, Kristian Woolf and Flanagan could all be in the frame for the head coaching gig at Concord should the Tigers part company with Maguire.

However, Flanagan said that if the Tigers had begun considering Maguire’s replacement, he hadn’t been notified.

“There’s no position available. That’s the way I look at it and my management look at it,” Flanagan said on Fox League on Sunday.

“Michael Maguire is the coach. It’s been a tough year for the Tigers. I just let those things go by. It’s rugby league and the rumour mill at its best.”

However, Flanagan said he would be grab a head coaching role with both hands if he was offered one.

“I’m interested in as head coaching role. That’s what I do,” the former Sharks boss said.

“I was lucky enough to win a comp with the Sharks. I’ve got the bug, I want to do it, I think I do it well but the Wests Tigers are off the cards.

“If something comes up in the future at any club and I was lucky enough to get to that job, I’d look at it as a privilege.”

Leading into the final month of the regular season, the Tigers had still been a chance to make the finals series for the first time since 2011.

However, when the side lost its last three games by an average margin of 27 points, pundits were left to question whether Maguire had lost the dressing room.

After their 38-0 loss to the wooden-spooners in the final round, Maguire affirmed his desire to see out his contract with the Tigers.

“I know exactly where the team is going, and the organisation knows where the team is going,” he said.

“We’ve got to make sure that we continue to be disciplined about what we’re trying to build here.

“Changing teams and changing pathways of clubs takes a little bit of time.

“It doesn’t mean that you can’t get better performances on the park, I’ll acknowledge that, but it’s about continually sticking to the path of where we’re going with this group.”

Regardless of who is steering the ship, the Tigers will hope the additions of Jackson Hastings and Oliver Gildart to the roster can help turn things around next year.

Flanagan has the reputation of being a canny operator and excellent man manager. Wasn't it his barbeque that tipped the scales in the Sharks' favour of signing Luke Lewis?
