It's not changing the coach in isolation is it? I've listed the initiatives and good outcomes that are happening now in the post below.

Hartigan has been onboard for 2 years now and if he's in charge of negotiating with player managers, he hasn't done a good job with all the signing misses we've had.

We've recruited decent juniors, but we've already seen that we've lost a number of players from that Flegg side. Jordan Hill, Mavoni Taufua, Logen Dillon, Jackson Rahme all rumoured to be gone. Time will tell if they make it to the NRL, but it's not a stretch to think they will be the new Paps, Tatola etc. that the club let go. This should have nothing to do with Madge's role.

Sheens doesn't even know what his job is yet. He's gone from leading junior pathways to reviewing the coach before he has actually arrived.

The CoE is the only thing you've listed that is guaranteed, and there is only one in Concord.

These changes are s a package of reforms for the long term future of the club. These are happening or planned in the case of Campbelltown COE,.

We are in a strong financial position. tick
We have the COEs being built or planned for Concord and Campbelltown. tick tick
We have Hartigan and Sheens onboard tick tick
We have the best junior recruitment in years tick
We hopefully will have a new coach by EOW.

I understand Dillon, Scolari, Pole, Tumeth and among others have been retained (according to a post over the last few days). Mavoni is not one I would have retained as Pole and Tupou imo are better. Jordan Hill is one I would have liked to retain. We have also signed a few good young players from Qld schools including a Keebra Prop.

Hartigan is a huge asset to our club and vital for our future. Maguire with passion, commitment and work ethic can only get you so far. We need more from a coach.

Gus has 100% interest in ensuring the Tigers remain a bad place. He did that at the Panthers before leaving and will do it at the Bulldogs. His primary job now is the Bulldogs. If we look good that impacts the Bulldogs.

He’s a gun for hire. Probably looking for another gig to supplement his other revenue streams.

No idea. I heard through the press that he was working on the background Re TPJ but who really knows for certain.

The ONLY way in which i'd care about anything Gus has to say is if he was in our employment. He tries to manipulate everything and everyone to suit his wants.

Of course he is. Anyone who thinks there aren’t’ deeper issues at the club then who the coach is is an idiot.

If you are being objective and not just hating on Hooper, then it is hard to argue against what he said

It has been said here that Ciraldo has overseen the best defensive team in the NRL but nobody knows how he would go with inferior players. As an example, look at the Penrith Parramatta final and you wouldn't see better defence than either side put up. Now, look at the assistants at those clubs and Ciraldo did really well but Parra had David Kidwell, who was a past defence coach at the Tigers and he did equally well in that game.
BUT Kidwell was a disaster as defence coach at the Wests Tigers. My point is that any reasonable coach can do well if he has a quality roster and it is the roster that needs improving under any future or present coach before we will have any success.

Yeah very good point.
Signing Ciraldo would be an enormous risk.

Keeping Madge after 3 years of getting worse each year he has been here is a far greater risk, one we can't really afford

Every option is a large risk.

True but the green coaches are an unacceptable risk

Believe me I have thought that for a long time.

Taking on a Ciraldo or ESL coach is a risk because their experience in NRL as a head coach, with this squad is completely unknown.

Retaining Madge is a huge risk because his experience as a head coach of the Wests Tigers, with this squad is completely known.

One risk is unknown, the other is known. Past performance is the best indicator of future performances. Which do you hitch your wagon to?

That is not how risk assessment works.

Mate, Im not going to engage with you but I do risk assessment every day for a living. 100% risk assessment in based on known risks, not imagined risks.

I do them as well, and you are right

Flanagan over Ciraldo ?

We've heard the boys club Rumours for years and i think Ciraldo would thrive in that, make him feel young again... let the boys get away with murder and run the show.

Need some dry footy head like Flanno.
Aside from the drug use issues, he seems like a staunch footballing mind.

Have Kimmorley and Farah by his side and we got some real smarts in the coaching box.

Thanks @weststigerman. That quote from Gould needs bumping!!!
What a few of us have been saying for a while, but when a legend of the game makes that statement it should carry some weight. And thank you Steve Hill!!

Gus also said you can't buy your way out of the bottom of the table, it will fail, yet Canterbury are trying to do it, why did he sign on to a place doomed to fail, Gus has agendas to suit Gus
