I think John Morris would be my preferred option for coach

Yep no problem from me either.

I reckon he should be the assistant coach now. We need a plan in place to replace Madge.

Forcing assistants upon him is untenable unless the strategy is to force him out.

There’s a feeling inside the club that the Tigers have a better and more balanced roster than they did in 2020, yet they are going backwards at a rate of knots. One of the questions set to be asked in the coming days is why perceived improvements in the roster aren’t being met with improvements in performance.

That's a fair enough assessment - most comments on here were the past off season has been our best in recent history for signings.

The question has to be asked why the performances aren't reflecting the improvement in roster.

Madge has proven he can coach but it's looking less and less likely he's the right fit for us.

I don't care how bad we are going, I'll never revert to giving Cleary any credit for his stunt here. Guy dogged all of us.

Just because you don’t want to, doesn’t mean he wasn’t good while he was here. Leaps and bounds above this guy.

It's probs the right move but who do you bring in?

Too many quitters in that run on side today. Not sure any coach can get them motivated. It's shocking to see tbh...

Not much available. You go inexperienced or you go peptide Flanno etc

I'd even go Toovey at this rate honestly

He's not a bad coach. Wears his heart on his sleeve.

At least we wouldn’t cop such a hammering from the refs . He’d have to negotiate 100k per year more than he’s worth , just to spend on fines lol

The game now is about skill and speed and we lack both. A new coach will not make Nofo faster. We have a side basically full of plodders.

If we got a new coach who could attract some quality it might be worth a punt, if not there is nothing to gain. No coach is going to turn our mob into world beaters without a big recruitment drive.

I think the biggest issue sacking him might cause is losing some decent youngsters. End of the day quite a few of these boys came over because they liked Madge.

Thanks for sharing. Was unaware of that.

Before he jumped, we showed consistent improvement as he started to get more of his recruitment into the squad.

Madge has had a few years and the squad is mostly his now yet we are going backwards in all aspects and fast.

A good coach.

Just like Potter you will leave us despite being a more than capable (premiership winning) coach. Jesus Christ himself couldn’t turn this rabble around when the administration couldn’t organise a chook raffle. Hastings will save us lol

EXCLUSIVE

Michael Maguire facing the axe. Wests Tigers call crisis meetings over the next 48 hours to determine future of the club and coach. Big couple of days ahead.

The issue is and why he will cop the sack is , has has not shown in his 3rd year that he has the ability to improve the players and the team and move them to top 8.

based off the flogging this year, amount of points leaked last year and losses piling up I would say have to say there will be not ladder progress and that’s why he will be punted . Whether that’s fair or not is another issue.

**Madge has proven he can coach but it's looking less and less likely he's the right fit for us.**

I don't agree with the last sentence. Madge is trying to change the culture of the playing group. For way to long the players have had the say in running things and often to the overall detriment. Madge is trying to instil a winning culture. If Madge needs to break this playing group to achieve that cultural change then so be it. Those that don't buy in can leave. We have the break the cycle of letting the playing group get away with mediocrity, and then blaming the coach for their poor performance. The playing group needs to be more professional in their approach and do what is needed to win.

Madge's hard nose approach is exactly what the club needs at this point in time. If it means we run last to do it then we run last. It's the cycle and culture that needs breaking and re-engineering.

If we change coaches now it might be a short term fix and we might achieve short term results but it won't fix the problem. We will remain a second tier team rather than a powerhouse.
