Just because you don’t want to, doesn’t mean he wasn’t good while he was here. Leaps and bounds above this guy.

Michael Maguire facing the axe. Wests Tigers call crisis meetings over the next 48 hours to determine future of the club and coach. Big couple of days ahead.

Fed-up Tigers officials have ordered an internal review after the club’s finals hopes were all but buried in Sunday’s humiliating Anzac Day demolition at the hands of Manly at Bankwest Stadium.

The club is now trying to determine whether Maguire will continue as coach or if they would be better parachuting the likes of John Morris or Shane Flanagan into the hot seat after their sixth loss from seven games to open the season.
It appears the only thing now saving Maguire from the axe is the embarrassment some club powerbrokers want to avoid by parting ways with their fifth coach in nine years.
There’s a feeling inside the club that the Tigers have a better and more balanced roster than they did in 2020, yet they are going backwards at a rate of knots. One of the questions set to be asked in the coming days is why perceived improvements in the roster aren’t being met with improvements in performance.
The Herald can reveal Maguire has a clause in his recently inked two-year extension that will allow the club to part ways with him without much of a financial impact on the club. It’s understood there is a cap on a potential pay-out should the Tigers terminate Maguire’s deal.

Sunday’s loss saw this current crop of Tigers become the worst defensive team in the club’s history through seven rounds, not to mention the worst in the NRL for points conceded this year.
The Tigers have gone from ninth in Maguire’s first year in charge to 11th last year. They are now equal last with Brisbane and the Bulldogs after seven rounds.

based off the flogging this year, amount of points leaked last year and losses piling up I would say have to say there will be not ladder progress and that’s why he will be punted . Whether that’s fair or not is another issue.

Might be time to bite the bullet while we have salary cap space.

Another important issue is we will have a lot of money to spend next year. If a new coach is to be appointed (anointed?), he may have different ideas on which players to buy. He may also be in a position to attract players who would not be interested in coming to WTs under the current coach.

That's a fair enough assessment - most comments on here were the past off season has been our best in recent history for signings.
The question has to be asked why the performances aren't reflecting the improvement in roster.
**Madge has proven he can coach but it's looking less and less likely he's the right fit for us.**
I don't agree with the last sentence. Madge is trying to change the culture of the playing group. For way to long the players have had the say in running things and often to the overall detriment. Madge is trying to instil a winning culture. If Madge needs to break this playing group to achieve that cultural change then so be it. Those that don't buy in can leave. We have the break the cycle of letting the playing group get away with mediocrity, and then blaming the coach for their poor performance. The playing group need to be more professional in their approach and do what is needed to win.
Madge's hard nose approach is exactly what the club needs at this point in time. If it means we run last to do it then we run last. It's the cycle and culture that needs breaking and re-engineering.
If we change coaches now it might be a short term fix and we might achieve short term results but it won't fix the problem. We will remain a second tier team rather than a powerhouse.

Benji has not been making any where near as many mistakes in attack this year, he is also not being isolated in defence multiple times each game.
I don't think he is suddenly trying harder or a better player, so what is the difference? Less pressure? Less responsibility? Better players around him?

That is the key, we have money, Madge can't attract a fly to a turd, a new coach might give us a shot in the market
