You can call for his head for alot of reasons... But this game isnt one of them.

4 times Mbye was run behind because he, and only he, chose to defend into the middle of the park planting his feet and turning his shoulders into the middle, and singularly created an overlap. Only once was the try disallowed because Reynolds stepped out.

Twice Dewy did the same.

A desperation offload within our own 20m, yet not a single player desperate enough to jump on the ball. Play the ball errors in our 20m...

If we sack Madge we let these players off... problem is, we need to build these players or pay them to ride the pine. The cupboards are bare, well they arent entirely, but we dont need the future born into this sort of world, we dont want them to know apathy.

Madge might not be the answer. I personally doubt he can fully turn us around. Though I do believe he can be the coach who breaks them down to hand a competent and malleable squad over to the next coach.

Make or break the squad, they are mentally weak. Moving Madge on allows the players to shift responsibility to a man no longer with the orginisation. They need to find accountability down to the player.

So you're saying...

Sack Madge... and the players?

?
My man.... it's genius!

No... I am saying sacking Madge puts all the accountability on him, lets the players off.

We can take the easy road, and give the players a pass, or we can let Madge sort the wheat from the chaff and hand over a competent squad. Continuing with Madge means we put the accountability on the roster. They either learn resilience by fire, or break. We have a handful of players who are somewhat competent, a couple that find fault by trying too hard, and others who wilt entirely under pressure finding default ability resonant to the lowest common denominator ie. once the pooch is screwed they put on a rubber and wait in line to bang us harder.

A new coach wont give us mental toughness, no pep talk will lift our worst efforts, no pat on the bum will take away our weakness under pressure. Its a rough road to beat this into players. Let Madge do it, we see glimpses of it, that means the players understand what they are coached, and its their application as players that is the issue.

New coach 5th time around... if I failed 4 times at something, i wouldnt be excited for the next round having any different outcome.

A few thoughts:

1. The defensive effort wasn't a change of defence style to stop and slide that channel 9 thought. It was the players not listening to coach and not putting in effort.

2. Madge spoke a lot more direct than normal and called out players not giving a go. Hopefully this signals a change where he starts to cut the dead wood.

3. We have a younger group who are playing for madge and giving it a go. Hopefully they become the core neculus of the team from now on.

4. Plan is to develop from within. Gave example of east's and said it takes around 6 years to see the youth come through.

5. Said we still haven't defined what being a Wests Tigers player means.

6. Said they wasn't room in salary cap to look at market until now. I'd say that while madge has technically resigned most of the squad, our salary cap didn't allow him to look too broadly.

Key point is Madge better follow through and puck a team next game of players who want to give their all.

I would have liked it also if I thought he'd act on it...but he won't.

Not sure if any of you watched Bennet's press conference. Very, very interesting. He basically said that the media blame the players for these huge blowout scores, but the main problem is with the management of some clubs. He said it is much deeper than blaming the players and suggested a toxic workplace will lead to underperforming in any work environment.. Worth watching if you haven't seen it.

Very interesting.........Souffs have 50 put on them twice this year, maybe he should worry about his own backyard.

What desperate loser would want to coach the Tigers after another coach is sacked mid contract? Changes are needed and I would definitely get the best defensive coach I could, but we are stuck with Madge.

Hand held high as a moron who wanted him gone long ago.

Yep a lot of morons on here apparently

I am not saying Madge is doing a great job, I am saying the Tigers have sacked so many coaches and changed coaches so many times that they have to stick with him. If they sack Madge they are admitting that they got it wrong again. If they sack Madge they lose whatever benefits he has brought and start at zero again.

Plan to develop from within .. that is basically about 10 teams that have been harping on all year … we going to have a super competition in a few years with all these clubs developing from within .. pity that none of these coaches can’t improve their existing cattle

That intercept play today will be enough to keep Nofaluma in for another year or so anyway. One good play for ten dumb ones somehow acceptable.

He is one of the prime reasons we are as bad as we are. At no other club would a completely zero IQ winger play so many games.

It was pretty obvious in the dressing room prior to the game the players weren't listening to him. That's the end for Maguire.

Yeah, very noticeable. He gave a rev up, he even demonstrated the old 'find your shoulder' technique...and not a single one of them bounced up. They all looked half asleep.

Walters have the Broncs the same speech and some of them were bouncing off the walls after it.

His style just does not work anymore. They need a coach who can improve their techniques and offer real game plans.

They must have listened to his half time speech?
The Rabbits are a top 4 team, there backline is far superior than ours, surely no one thought these last 4 games were winnable?
We have half a team full of kids and some who are just cruising, I mean our little FB was our best player for us today? Getting rid of the bludgers won't be easy atm.

You are delusional, we have conceded 154 points in our last 3 games, including 40 in one half, Madge has lost the sheds, and lost the plot, he needs to go now.
We are no superstar side, but we are far better than the results, seriously mate are you related to Madge

Grow up with the name calling, if you can't see the crap efforts from the players are putting in, then you don't know the game?

Irony lost on you as well, you don't see the players not playing for the coach, or his 2014 game plan, and I don't know the game

I see the players not performing, I can't see anything what Madge is doing at training, because I'm not there, are you?

Did you see the pre game dressing room? I don't believe I have ever watched so many players trying not to listen to Maguire while he gesticulated with his finger.

I agree on the Nofa comments 100%, but Cooper is not going to fix the issue I don’t believe. Perhaps defensively but he’s slow as and if he makes that intercept he doesn’t make it past the half way line. I think we’re a victim of not being able to attract Topline players to our club and Madge, Hartigan and Pascoe etc know it and also understand that our only option is to develop within through juniors, pathways etc and it’s gonna take time. My fear is if there’s no experience around the youth we just continue to get what we’ve got and if we don’t have good development coaches around them we don’t get them ready for first grade.

Went into a bit more background on what's happening to rebuild the club, but yeah, he was filthy.

Scary thing is it is almost a guarantee he won't drop anyone...despite the rhetoric, which he is mastering.

Blown away by Parra
40-0 down after 30 v Storm
26-0 and gone early today...

Yet he won't change the pack...

Nofa absolutely slaughtered defensively...yet he won't drop him.

Brad Arthur dropped a much bigger name in Ferguson for two weeks of bad reads...McGuire won't leave out Nofaluma even if he lets three in a week.

Big difference is Parra can bring Haze Dunster in, who do we bring in, Fitzgibbon? A bloke who’s defence is worse than Noffas.

Cooper could go there...anyone who will at least read the play. Our opposite side winger does not get abused like it, so players are capable. Teams target Nofaluma every single week. Conceding each week after only 3 mins is just absolutely farcical.

That intercept play today will be enough to keep Nofaluma in for another year or so anyway. One good play for ten dumb ones somehow acceptable.

He is one of the prime reasons we are as bad as we are. At no other club would a completely zero IQ winger play so many games.

Actually, Cooper pulled off an intercept last game in reggies and ran the length, which surprised me.

We don't even need that play though, we just need someone who does not concede two to three a week. Nofaluma was absolutely lost on souths first couple today. The ratio of three tries conceded, one scored just won't win you games.

It has bothered me a while that Brooks is always the scapegoat...reality is we have a Z grader defensively on the wing and we are giving the opp a 2 try head start most games. He is a massive liability and we likely won't improve until he is long gone.

He was aiming fairly and squarely at the Broncos with those comments.

I actually liked what Madge said at his presser.

He has already given the "my reserve grade side are winning" and not picked them...

He has already given the "we need to find our shoulders" speech three times, but sat by as the same blokes each week don't tackle.

I don't want to sound too negative, but Maguire is basically just trotting out rhetoric to buy time at the moment.

You can only say stuff so many times and not act before everyone knows it is nothing but talk...

It is because he has run out of ideas, the game passed him by at the start of 2020, he is so far behind now he is no chance of catching back up

How do you know this?

Watching the games tell me this, his game plan and defensive structures are so flawed even Braith can see it

So you listen to Braith????OK

He wouldn't say it for no reason.
His job is to comment on the game.
Pretty fair comment rly.
