James Roberts in a recent interview says "he loves the Tigers and he loves the club".

It's a phrase I am hearing again and again when players mention the Tigers.
Whatever Madge is doing, he is doing this one thing right. The players he is keeping onside.
Even Mbye who was on the outer, is being managed well.

Maybe Madge isn't managing the bench rotation well. Maybe there are tweeks here and there. But if everyone is saying "we like playing at the Tigers", and we are training hard. Then we are building well.

We see how Parra has been torn apart by infighting. We want players to stay with the Tigers and build their careers here. We want people saying were a good club because that will attract talent.

How many years has it taken Brad Arthur at Parra, ? Building takes time. Madge is getting the culture right.

Well many on here just can’t see it.
So slashing and burning is the only answer.
Well I agree with you mate and am sticking …. It may not be working but believe me we will get there.
If we change our course now and get a new coach AND he fails to get immediate positive results ….. we are well and truly stuffed. The media will have a field day and we’ll be in worst place than we are now.
This season is done and dusted …. If this time next season we don’t improve THEN and only THEN we have given the coach and his roster sufficient time ….

Sounds about right. We will have given him a fair shot by then and we will still be in the same spot. By that time we will have finalised our contract offer to Freddy Fittler and hopefully he'll put his money where his mouth is.

Interesting thought @rihannafan1 re Freddy Fittler.

I'm actually deadset serious ay. I think Maguire will do the hardest work and not get to enjoy the fruits of it but he'll leave us in a decent spot. I know, I know, sack Maguire to replace him with Freddy? Only on WTF
But Fittler *would* attract players to the club, no doubt. He'd be finished four Origin series and may want to get back into the league proper. He'd be a big, somewhat respected name after Origin. He bags us, sometimes rightly so, but I actually think he gives a crap about the competition's health and would like us to perform better. What better way to help?

Fittler is a terrible club coach.

Remember this is 15 years of crud. Madge will change this culture, hang on Tigers fans.

I to actually liked some of what he had to say today, 1st time I have seen him actually talk about problems. The parts I didn't like were the excuses he made for those problems

I think we are spiraling. The players don’t look like they are buying into what the coach is saying, but more concerning is that they look like a fractured group.

The scary thing is that is is the experienced leaders that appear most disconnected. If Madge is not the problem then I think it is them realising what a rabble they have walked into.

Perhaps a lack of professionalism and accountability. Maybe the attitude and sense of entitlement average players have. Maybe they see contentment and an acceptance of mediocrity in the group.

Considering the turnover in the playing group surely the stalwarts could not have infected everyone else.

I actually liked what Madge said at his presser.

A few thoughts:

1. The defensive effort wasn't a change of defence style to stop and slide that channel 9 thought. It was the players not listening to coach and not putting in effort.

2. Madge spoke a lot more direct than normal and called out players not giving a go. Hopefully this signals a change where he starts to cut the dead wood.

3. We have a younger group who are playing for madge and giving it a go. Hopefully they become the core neculus of the team from now on.

4. Plan is to develop from within. Gave example of east's and said it takes around 6 years to see the youth come through.

5. Said we still haven't defined what being a Wests Tigers player means.

6. Said they wasn't room in salary cap to look at market until now. I'd say that while madge has technically resigned most of the squad, our salary cap didn't allow him to look too broadly.

Key point is Madge better follow through and puck a team next game of players who want to give their all.

I would have liked it also if I thought he'd act on it...but he won't.

He has already given the "my reserve grade side are winning" and not picked them...

He has already given the "we need to find our shoulders" speech three times, but sat by as the same blokes each week don't tackle.

I don't want to sound too negative, but Maguire is basically just trotting out rhetoric to buy time at the moment.

You can only say stuff so many times and not act before everyone knows it is nothing but talk...

It is because he has run out of ideas, the game passed him by at the start of 2020, he is so far behind now he is no chance of catching back up

How do you know this?

Watching the games tell me this, his game plan and defensive structures are so flawed even Braith can see it

So you listen to Braith????OK

At the end of the day for whatever reasons, Madge has this team and club going backwards. It’s obvious the players look unmotivated ,lack cohesion in defence etc I can’t see it changing without a new coach! There is talent and potential in the players but Madge is not forging a winning team at all.

Wayne Bennett doesn’t have a gig next year

Coahing in Origin is just training drills, they can impart very little on the players in a couple of sessions. Players like Cleary, Teddy. and Turbo would organise most of the game plan, as did Smith, Thurston, Cronk etc in the good QLD sides.

Cohesion is a big issue and that's all on Madge. The chopping and changing at 6, 3,4 and 2 is ridiculous and I can't make sense of it. Even the back rowers have chopped and changed sides. Sure he tries some adjustments in positions but then just reverts back to 2 or 3 weeks ago. What's the point.
Pick youth and stick with it.
Mbye and Roberts are not the future and shouldn't be in first grade. They are embarrassing and have no excuses with their experience. They will not get better, but the young blokes just might if given a decent run of games. Gotta be looking forward.

He has lost his players everyone can see this with there demeanour on the park ,he has had plenty of opportunity to drop players but refuses. There are players in reserve grade that would take the opportunity.
Maguire has lost the locker room and as each week passes so does he lose the supporter base !

Not evident in the performance of the FB. He embarrassed his team mates yesterday. One set he took two hit ups in own twenty-five and not one forward sighted. Maguire might be finished but the players are the ones who let supporters down.

It is a long hard process to get this club on track and the only way to get there is to hold strong as a club until we get there

I hate what's going on as much as everyone else but we can't just sack the coach

We've tried that many times and failed

We need to be patient

The young guys will eventually start shining and realise they belong in the NRL ( if of course they don't walk out on us)

We have to go through this pain to show the players they are accountable cos if we sack another coach we are condoning their actions

Players who play at tigers need to learn they are accountable

But as I said if the young blokes stay they will eventually shine as they are learning the hard way but I think they are developing well

At least they try

Tamou and Twal let's face it really have little impact

Easily worst front row in comp

We competed better with them off the field

I know rabbits weren't as good in 2nd half but they still smashed us with their defense and we still made heaps of errors yet we son the 2nd half with our young bench forwards on the field

And to Brooks and Laurie gee they were outstanding

Interesting when we played catch up, cohesion started to return. Our players seem fearful of straying from Maguire's 'gameplan'.

Instead they have little pride and pea hearts

Looks like the "playing kids" experiment is over?
In these last 3 games, the opposition looked so much bigger than our blokes imo?

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/tigers/i-need-to-find-men-michael-maguire-flags-roster-overhaul-as-tigers-lashed-over-garbage-loss/news-story/3f1459ef2db3bfd091620a135ed296a1

**‘I need to find men’: Michael Maguire flags roster overhaul as Tigers lashed over ‘garbage’ loss**

A frustrated Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has lashed his team’s “garbage” performance as they sunk to a new low at their spiritual home.

The Tigers treated defence like it was optional as the Rabbitohs piled on seven tries in a 38-22 training run.

It came off the back of Maguire’s men conceding an embarrassing 66 points in their previous outing against the Storm.

It was a good thing there were no fans at the ground because the players would have been booed off at Leichhardt Oval for the second time this season.

A month to the day after they stunned the Panthers, Michael Maguire’s side folded as the Origin-in-waiting halves of Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds picked them apart with consummate ease.

Speaking after the match Maguire said they needed to fix their diabolic starts to games.

“For three weeks, our starts have been ordinary. We have to be accountable for that,” he said.

“It’s sad to say that our start looked like a training run for Souths. It’s very disappointing to see us start like that.

“I need to find men who are going to be accountable for what we’re doing. That’s not acceptable for where we’re going with the club.

“Our first half was garbage.”

Maguire, who said there was no repeat of the silent treatment he gave his side at halftime during the Storm hammering, said he would use the rest of the season to work out which players had a future at the Tigers.

“I’ll be definitely having a look at the team,” Maguire said.

“They’ve got a week now where they can go away from footy for a while.

“I want to find the ones that are ready to take Wests Tigers forward.”

“We’re very focused on where we want to get to. Seeing a performance like that is disappointing because the effort around the organisation is a strong club.

Maguire has challenged his players' manhood publicly (or even privately)and that is the end for him. Football aside, that is unacceptable and he should be asked to attend the CEO's office this morning. No wonder we're viewed in less than positive light.

??

The players need to man up.
I think it's fair what Madge said.

Said he wants players that are hungry and want to lead the tigers to success.

Heads should roll after last night's game.

I'd be taking aim at Nofo, Mbye, anyone else.
All needing to be dropped.

Looks like the "playing kids" experiment is over?
In these last 3 games, the opposition looked so much bigger than our blokes imo?

**‘I need to find men’: Michael Maguire flags roster overhaul as Tigers lashed over ‘garbage’ loss**

A frustrated Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has lashed his team’s “garbage” performance as they sunk to a new low at their spiritual home.

Do you think the club would be disagreeing with him?
The only meeting he will be having this morning, is with the recruitment team to look at what we got and what is available, the players that are not putting in, need to go.
