Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

The writing is on the wall whether it’s rightly or wrongly it hasn’t worked with Madge, he’s taken the playing group backwards. **When the journo‘s are openly saying the reason we can’t attract talent is the coach that’s it you’re done**. We all know for all the rubbish they write this part at least is reasonably documented. We have to move quickly not a huge fan of Flanno, Morris & Ciraldo are really the only other options it will be one of those 3 I’m guessing.

So the journo’s say who’s in and who’s out now. That’ll do me.

Wake up mate I said they are openly saying it, they have been for some time it’s pretty clear Madge can’t attract players if you can’t see that you’re asleep.

Tell me ALL the players all the other coaches attracted over the years....
By my count, It's about 3-4 Top line Signings (In 22 Years)

Not counting the good fortune signings like Scott Prince and Pat Richards... Even with those, It's not 10!!

In 22 years - We haven't signed 10 top line players....
Change the coach as often as you like - You can't (and won't) change that.

A new coach every second week makes us less likely to attract players.

Honestly that is what got us in the mess in the first place.
Imagine a struggling club giving the SuperCoach a 10 day deadline to decide if he is going to leave his current club a year early.
Should of, from day one agreed to move on from Cleary internally, agreed with Bennett to start in 2020 and figured out the rest afterwards.

I really wouldn’t care if we don’t have a proper coach installed at all next season. Once they are signed they can start working out what they need.

We aren’t going to getting more than two places off the bottom of the table next season so I really don’t see a point to signing a new coach so suddenly but if you have decided to move on from Madge there is no point keeping him around as a safeguard.
Cronulla did this, this year and had Fitzgibbon calling the shots from afar changing his roster 12 months in advance and they still managed to stay competitive through the season.

If I was Michael Maguire I would just walk . He doesn’t deserve to be tormented by these serial non committed pretenders. 75% of this team need to be shown the door. Unfortunately Maguire will be the fall guy just like the last 10 years. Ground Hog Day!

The Chammas article has zero credibility as it's just another attempt by him at a get-square with Maguire after booting his "boy", Benji Marshall at the end of 2020. Nothing more than a criminal misuse of precious ink and paper.

The quotes from our Chairman cannot be passed off as a journalist wanting to get back at Maguire. It is the end for Maguire reading those comments.

Sounds like he's willing to come back to Australia and he's done a good job coaching Tonga and St Helens, taking them to a grand final win, and has been an assistant at the broncos and knights

Maguire is no scapegoat. He's been a disaster for the club.

Maguire is as good as gone but what player with any desire to win would want to line up next to the majority of that squad?
That performance said more about the players and their mentality than Maguire as a coach.
Stefano showed what players who want to win look like playing for the club and coach in a team getting smashed. A class above the rest.

I don’t understand why people on here are so worried about sacking Madge .
It is very clear he has lost the dressing room the players just not listening to him anymore.
Our defence is crap , as a a grade coach for many years , I can’t see how he has not at least been able to address this , it just gets worse week by week .
Then are attack has gone missing , I just don’t see how he can survive, because it will not get better next year .
