The top 4-6 teams have one thing in common, they’re all excellent defensive units.

When their attack isn’t firing they man up and shut down the opposition regardless.

I can forgive our current lack of attack, that will come when the spine gels, but defensively we’re nothing more than a speed hump.

That for mine is a coaching issue.

That for mine is a player ATTITUDE issue, the coach cant go out there and do it for them...stop blaming the coach for player incompetence, they are professional players who have played the game for years at and some at above NRL standard (rep)..

The game’s changed due to the 6 again and new scrum/penalty rules. We haven’t adapted our game plan, that’s a coach issue.

You’re obviously not watching the same matches that I am.

I dare say I watch the games probably more thoroughly than you think...Joey ,Brooks and AJ cost us plenty with poor defensive reads...blame who you like but the Roorters targeted that side all game ....surprised yet...

So does that explain off the ball play where players are jogging after a break is made, rather than chasing and doing everything thing they can to shut the attack down?

No it doesn’t, but they constantly look out of position and lack any clear direction.

In the end the buck stops with Madge, he needs to cement the standard and the structure.

Not at all, that’s why Madge is paid to make sure that we plug any of those defensive holes.

Surprised yet ?

And the players have to follow the Direction, Standard and Structure. If they don't they pay the consequences. There are a couple of players that can count themselves very lucky that they are also not spending time in NSW Cup. Some won't have their contracts renewed.

Bellamy, Bennet or Jack Gibson couldn’t solve our issues. Nor could Cleary, JT, Potter.
It’s the club we all follow which, is the issue.

Junior development, recruitment, retention, facilities, location away from one of the biggest nurseries in NSW.

We are making big strides in all areas with pathways, centre of excellence, roster management in recent years. Unless we get lucky with a young star like Benji in 2004-5 and or get recruitment spot on it will take years.
No one signs with bad clubs and when they do they cost more. It’s a cycle and when your down you stay there a long time.

We have mercenaries basically and lost all our best juniors. Throw Tedesco, Moses, Nathan Brown, Paseka, Papynhuyzen and recruits we couldn’t hold Aloai, Matterson, JAC into the side and the story is different.

For the time being, we haven't even followed a game plan that allows the team to build cohesion, let alone play adaptive footy. That's not due to the coach but the team's ability to stick and work together on the field - this becomes painfully evident through their inability to currently even back each other.
The team aren't clicking because of lack of leadership and communication, and possibly confidence or trust issues.
It's been well documented Madge is a hard taskmaster (with high very standards), and has also been providing the necessary tools to boost team confidence - through providing leadership opportunities, having honesty sessions and public encouragement. (He only did it last week with both Brooks and Doueihi).
Not to be funny but disputing or questioning the coaches role in the boys effort and performance isn't going to break any barriers that the team are currently facing.

And thats why some of the players are on such a high salary...to follow game plans and play the game the way he wants it played...Joey was a perfect example of a high salary with very little professional input...

This is always going to be a long road and Madge should be congratulated on sticking with the club .... long term.
I am confident that despite the bad start we will continue to experience over next few weeks ..... by the end of the season we will have some positives to build on further.
We have money in the bank to act should couple of good players emerge and by next year hopefully our spine and back row will be in better shape,

Im sticking with.Madge and the current management to continue with the current vision.

Never ever before have been so close to breaking free of the constant failure as we are now.

The first two rounds were abismal, however
Im gonna hold my nerve and enjoy the success that's on the horizon.

The struggles of our club are uncharted waters. What do we do at an elite level? Also, who in the competition has experience at fixing problems like ours?

The only people I think who would be better suited for the long-term growth of the team are Bellamy, Stuart and Bennett on the coaching side and Gould in the front office. It is easy to throw shade at the club but I don't hear a lot of experts in the media proposing solutions. And that's because they don't have an idea either nor the experience to recommend anything. Very few do.

I actually don't expect Maguire to see out his contract. He'll leave before it finishes. Right place, wrong time. I don't think he's supported well enough by Pascoe, who seems a great person, has a heart in the right place, plenty intelligent but is in over his head without enough mentorship. Again, who could right the wrongs with us? There are very few elite coaches or managers out there.

Shane Richardson did well at Cronulla, Penrith and Souths.

He seems like a good club builder.

I agree. Let's buckle in. Sometimes things get worse before they get better. If we give up now, we'll never break the bonds of mediocrity. Madges vision is the right one.

The most frustrating thing is that it's a better roster and there were some great signs in the trial. Let's hope that shows through this week.

Flanagan soon.

I want Madge to stick around for the next 2yrs.

No coach will come in with the current crop and make us a finals contender. I’m over the panic of we suck let’s rebuild every year or 2. We are finally getting some structure going and it needs time.

He finally has cash to spend for next season and beyond + we are going down the younger path for our talent. Let’s see what he can do.

Last year we saw some very good signs in AD, Lucy, Musgrove, Grant & Blore. This year we have already seen positives in Stefano, Laurie & Joe - jury out on Tamou, JTJ and AJ. We still have Simpkin, Tuliagi, Simpkins and others.

It’s obvious we lack more talent in the backline, halves and backrow. He will recruit those over the next few seasons.

I don’t think Madge can save us on his own. Until we get the COE we can’t compete with some of the other teams with our offering.
