Madge was brought in as the Tigers’ saviour.

I want Madge to stick around for the next 2yrs.

No coach will come in with the current crop and make us a finals contender. I’m over the panic of we suck let’s rebuild every year or 2. We are finally getting some structure going and it needs time.

He finally has cash to spend for next season and beyond + we are going down the younger path for our talent. Let’s see what he can do.

Last year we saw some very good signs in AD, Lucy, Musgrove, Grant & Blore. This year we have already seen positives in Stefano, Laurie & Joe - jury out on Tamou, JTJ and AJ. We still have Simpkin, Tuliagi, Simpkins and others.

It’s obvious we lack more talent in the backline, halves and backrow. He will recruit those over the next few seasons.

I don’t think Madge can save us on his own. Until we get the COE we can’t compete with some of the other teams with our offering.

My suspicion is the train as you play coaching style is just not working with the players he has available.

Looks like the coaches player is the way moving forward

Unfortunately the decision needed to made on his last contract how long is he contacted for?

I’d be watching when flanno available rebuild 5.0

Madge can’t attract the marquee signings he needs.

The Wests Tigers as a club cant attract the marquee signings ....you can blame the old boys club for that...Madge is reshaping things as far as culture goes,a couple of years and we will see the team and club with an entirely different perspective...a winning culture and good off field dealings as far as sponsors and interests go..

Honestly the problem isn't as deep as it seems. Pretty much every try went through our left side where we had Brooks, Kepoa and Leilua - three of the worst defenders in the NRL. That side was attacked all day by Keary, Tedesco and Morris - all top 3 players in the world at their respective positions.

The rest of the team did a good job - its just one or two extremely weak points that blow out the statistics

You can be critical of Brooks in a number of areas, but to say that he is one of the worst defenders in the NRL is just plain wrong.

As far as halves go, he is right up there as one of the best defenders.

Absolutely, he’s an excellent defensive half.

That miss on keary was a bad look for him, but agree he hardly ever misses a beat with his defense

As others have mentioned, the biggest concern is if Madge quits.

Off the back of Ivan quitting, and then a proven premiership coach quits, we may as well fold or relocate.

As, James Graham said last night, when he came to Wigan he completely changed their defence, and he did the same at Souths.

For whatever reason, coaches and players seem to hit the wall when they spend extended time at the club. I have no idea how this happens.

Think about players like Packer, Reynolds, and Mbye who were decent players before they got here. BJ was much better at Canberra. We occasionally get a player that improves here like LL, but it is way too rare.

Is it the losing culture? Is it the facilities? Is it 1000 home grounds? I don't know.

The coach isn't the issue. It's the head office.
So many errors were made even as far back as Sheen's/Humphreys days. We need some top administration.
I hate Phil Gould but it's the type of guy we need.

This is spot on.

Madge has a squad next weekend made up of 12 players who were more or less unwanted by their previous clubs.

Every club needs a few of these blokes to keep things ticking over, but relying on them to perform consistently enough to secure a top 8 finish shows how clueless head office are.

I reckon this it it ..
The John West’s Tigers...a team full of rejects and superannuation gold diggers ..
Top teams only have 1 or 2 plodders
We have a top 30 plodder roster bar a couple .

???
John West Tigers...
Both hilarious and sad in equal measures.

Sounds like a reasonable coach not looking for excuses but remedies…and if the players cant commit maybe they should be SHOWN THE DOOR…

But he's already replaced the players with one's he selected and signed. Do we replace all those ones now too?

Read what I wrote Avo,if the players cant commit maybe they should be shown the door....
this is their first season together as a team...he may have selected and chosen those players and he has to get them to play,if they dont then maybe the rest might get what JOEY deservedly just got...

It doesn't matter, if we keep playing the way we are he'll leave anyway.

I dont think they will play the way they did in the first couple of rounds, once Laurie,AD,Brooks and Liddle gel and hit their straps the rest will follow....

Wholeheartedly agree.

The top 4-6 teams have one thing in common, they’re all excellent defensive units.

When their attack isn’t firing they man up and shut down the opposition regardless.

I can forgive our current lack of attack, that will come when the spine gels, but defensively we’re nothing more than a speed hump.

That for mine is a coaching issue.

That for mine is a player ATTITUDE issue, the coach cant go out there and do it for them...stop blaming the coach for player incompetence, they are professional players who have played the game for years at and some at above NRL standard (rep)..

The game’s changed due to the 6 again and new scrum/penalty rules. We haven’t adapted our game plan, that’s a coach issue.

You’re obviously not watching the same matches that I am.

Neither am I.
