Thanks for that information. I look forward to hearing the recommendations/proposals and hope they are in the best interests of the Wests Tigers/Liverpool-Macarthur district… and then voting on the issue at the EGM the following week.

A fiery meeting is expected when Magpies fans front Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club officials at today's ''information meeting'' at Wests Ashfield Leagues club from 10am. With massive doubts about whether the Magpies will field a team in next year's NSW Cup - Wests Tigers has called for the joint-venture to field only one side next year - it will be a chance for supporters to hear the recommendations of black and white powerbrokers.

Info meeting was held today at ashfield by WSDRLFC and WSM members:

White Paper proposal involves the following 4 options for WSDRLFC. These have NOT been decided on.

- Field a WSM nsw cup team for 2013 (but sponsorship and resources would need to be costed)
- Field a WT nsw cup team for 2013
- Sit out nsw cup season 2013
- Bundy Cup side 2013

Also listed was a set of conditions that WT agreed to if a WT nsw cup team went ahead for 2013

A decision re Ashfield funding will be determined by WAL board next wednesday

Wests group (ashfield - campbelltown and magpies fc) are unified - however more contribution is desired from campbelltown

Mention that preparations are being made for WSDRLFC will take over running of WJL

Although balmain was not formally discussed, it was mentioned that Ryde-Eastwood will cease funding of BRET. This is something not involved with WSM

WSM outsource running of sg ball and matts to WT but will retain full WSM branding

An agreed single nsw cup team will be reviewed at end of 2013

WSM can withdraw from a combined WT nsw cup team if they wish to re enter as a stand alone team

A single WT team will be playing in WT heritage strips as previously mentioned.

Sponsorship and general $$ funding is the main issue when it comes to viability of any football club.

Future of nsw cup is not locked in. May remain as is. TV Contract with NYC hinders any change to current format

Talk of a nsw cup gf winner vs qld cup gf winner playing head to head on nrl gf day

WAL board decision this Wednesday

WSDRLFC member vote in about 5 weeks to determine if WSDRLFC members get to have a final vote on what 1-4 option to take.

A small part of me wants to know the conditions that Wests Tigers agreed to.

The rest of me has stopped caring about this divisive little issue

At least the options have been laid out on the table for consideration.

They were laid out today. Cannot recall them line for line but i have outlined most of them above.

What exactly are you wanting to clarify?

I don't require any clarification thanks. It's just good to see some transparent options laid out for all to see rather than having to put up with hearsay.

Media article from today:

ENDANGERED for longer than the giant panda, the mighty Western Suburbs Magpie will have its fate determined at a leagues club board meeting on Wednesday night.

The Magpies will almost certainly disappear from senior rugby league if seven members of the Wests Ashfield board vote against a $400,000 funding proposal this week.

Despite going winless in the NSW Cup this year, the perennial battlers are still hopeful of fielding a side separate from the Wests Tigers joint venture.

However, club insiders have revealed they will need the ongoing support of Wests Ashfield, who have outlayed some $25 million over the past 25 years.

After a three-hour information session yesterday, Western Suburbs members voted overwhelmingly to continue in the NSW Cup next year, admitting they felt "alienated" from the Wests Tigers joint venture.

The Magpies went winless after Tigers NRL coach Tim Sheens ordered all his rostered players not in the top squad to represent Balmain Ryde-Eastwood, who lost to Newtown in the grand final.

I wonder what a new coach will think of the situation if the Magpies stay around…whether they will agree with what Sheens did by putting all his eggs in one basket...

Good question. Will it be his say or Humphreys.

This would doubtlessly sway the decision of the Wests directors.
If the status quo is maintained and the Magpies get no WT contracted players, I doubt very much the leagues club will pour money into another wipeout of a season. And without being tied to an NRL franchise I can't see how the Maggies can attract the quality of player required to be competitive.
Conversely, if the players are to be divvied up between Wests and Balmain then I'd like to think the money from the leagues club would be forthcoming.

Sadly it sounds like the directors will be making their decision before anyone knows what the structure of the 2013 Wests Tigers feeder teams will be …

There will only be one feeder team, the Board of Wests Ashfield have the following options to support:

Well Gary, unless Wests can align themselves with another club or clubs as feeder, then how on earth can they (we) hope to compete at NSW Cup level ?
As much as I want the Magpies to be there at that level I don't see how it can be feasible.

Without wanting to sound inflammatory, Wests Leagues should have pushed hard to ensure the Magpies emerged as the sole WT feeder team. The financial upper hand seems to count for nought.

Hope I've missed something really obvious … Because I want the Magpies to survive and thrive at the highest level possible.

That is fair enough, my point is that the Wests Ashfield directors are making an informed decision. All the options are on the table. They just need to decide where they will invest.

As a former Balmain fan I cn understand your sentiment with Ryde Eastwood getting more respect than Wests under Humphreys dictatorship.

As i see it a proposal is just that - options that may need to be considered - option 1 states that _**IF**_ a WSM side was entered then sponsorship and resources _**WOULD NEED TO BE COSTED**_, not that they would be witheld - it also does not say that a WSM side would not be considered as a feeder to WT
