Did anyone else get the feeling that Newcastle were almost on purpose goading the Leilua's to put each other off their games

Having them together in the same side if they can't stay focussed on footy could be a serious liability

They certainly failed the discipline test yesterday

Definitely, that last try the knights scored was solely our boys trying to rush in and hurt them after the big who ha that went on the play before.. you could see it coming a mile away. Let’s face it, we are so far from being a professional football team it hurts.

Let's hope next time they don't miss.

You can’t make wholesale sackings when you don’t have the cattle...... and we are skinny and struggling in our 30 partly because of ongoing injuries to Brooks, Mbye, Packer, Liddle etc. and lack of quality that players such as Smith, McQueen bring.
Yep we have 2 very ordinary wingers on board and Thompson is not far behind them.
MCK, Walters, Taylor, Seyfarth, Lawrence and Garner are just plain back up players on their current form.
And Benji and Reynolds really need the rest of the team to perform defensively before they can produce what’s needed.
So yes if we play on this week Maguire will probably stick with what he’s got add Grant to the bench ..... and hope he can kick some attitude in dopes. But don’t hold your breath. We have one win in the bank and we are lucky to have it.

Were the warning signs for all to see right here

The coaches change, some of the players change but somethings remain the same.
No consistency, no heart, no progress... Been hearing it for close on a decade.

Just another blow hard coach is Maguire .. keeps selecting players that have failed previously and will fail again . After 30 minutes basically changes multi positions on the run when these positions should of been finalised mid week.
I have no confidence that Maguire will be any different to an other coach the club has had over the years.
The coach can ramble on all he likes about mental attitude but if a player has not got the ability to compete at this level it is just mute! Even with the addition of some fresh faces this club still has a large portion of players that are not at the standard required ! When a 36 year old player in his swan song year is the best player on the park for you there are major issues with the quality of player that is on the park around him!

It's not the NFL. There's only so much he can do with 4 replacements. Then there's the whole sticking solid thing. He can't make wholesale changes after one shocker. They have to address it as a team. If it happens again, wield the axe. I don't get how blokes who do this for a progression can be so bad.

The coach made wholesale changes during the game ..

He tried to move the pieces around a fair bit. Probably as much as he could. But swapping players en masse after one bad game - like plenty are calling for, would be counter productive imo.

But he’ll pick Nofo again so what’s the point ?

And Corey at fullback, and Benji, that will show those pea hearted blokes they can't slack off and expect to play next week, ohh wait a sec

Let’s be real here...
All of our players across the park are pretty crap ...
When 1 player has a shocker
( Thompson round 1) it isn’t so noticeable and they can still jag a win ...
When multiple players have a shocker like yesterday ( Nofo , Benji , BJ , Fat Lucy, ) etc ...it’s a different story with dire consequences as we all witnessed yesterday..
I’m still more pissed that the Supercars ain’t running ?

2019 I probably would have agreed. But after the signings of 2020 i have to disagree. I think there is a lot of talent in the squad with the additions this year. Far better than last years in my opinion.

More like a team adjustment is required
But it won't matter now
Comp will be over this week

I don't think this season will last so why not put players on notice
Some of our regular 1st graders still think they are a walk in to the starting side
I would put Doueihi at Fullback and Thompson to wing
Drop Nofoluma out and bring Mbye to centres to match it with BJ
Mbye can get in his ear
If Bj fails again bring in Talau and make BJ work his way back in
No one's job should be guaranteed
I would also give Seyfarth a start if Mikaele is out
If Lj is suspended then bring in Eisenhuth
Time our players all worked for their positions in the team
That may change the attitude of our players

They all should be on match payments..
Especially after yesterday.

I posed this somewhere else, I wonder if it's hard for the players to truly concentrate with the very high risk of NRL being cancelled or indefinitely postponed for 2020.

For example I was totally in the match as a viewer, but on FT, my first thought was that the loss might not matter if the whole comp is shut down.

Quite a number of teams lacking discipline this round, losing games that were there to be won.

I think it was plain to see that given the NRL is now a week to week scenario and that window is closing fast the aura that would have been generated by a full LO gave way to Meh , it wont make a difference anyway, and once the gap in scores drifted away it reflected in the attitude.

When NRL finally sees that there is no way forward for this crap concept to go on further ..... Then I think what you see when they reopen for business will be whole lot different Than what we have now.
Club Roster, Players contracts and salaries, salary cap, branding, sponsorship and everything else you care to think of that’s currently connected to our game ..... is going in the melting pot.

Not many teams concede 24 points and still win
