Mahe Fonua and Corey Thompson (official)

Both will be ok in a good side. Neither are players worth locking in for the long term and expecting great things in an average team

Thompson has been a stand out in a bang average widnes side whilst Fonua has been outstanding during his stint at Hull. He made the dream team playing as a centre where he's been utilised for most of his time in England. Absolutely gutted to be losing him.

Watched them both in couple so Super League games and they both looke pretty good.
Would not be surprised if both become strong contenders for our starting side next year.
Particularly Fonua who looks to me to have it over Milne …. but we will see.
Plenty of competition in the 3/4 line, particularly if couple more signings eventuate.

He doesn't have to be that good to be better than Milne.

The more I have seen of Fonua he is a winger and a powerful man. Causes havoc on each hit up out of his own end and earns penalties, quick play the balls or offloads.
Rona is clearly better but Fonua is no slouch he will go well.

I think that Suli would be great as a lock or second row. He can tackle and has great leg drive and speed.'

Will happen in time Col but there are a few on here will shout you down about this.

I know a few on here argued that 3 years wasn't enough time for Curtis Sironen to adjust moving into the pack from 5/8.

I think suli will go better in the second rower aswell. We dont have the depths in backs to try him there but maybe next year with all the backs we are getting he might not be needed there. Is developing nicely and will do well wherever he plays.

Like me. Suli should stay at centre until hes 24-25.

He has the body shape like old mate from raiders. But bigger. Wait until hes confident. Hel kill it out on the edge.

Before getting rid of suli as a centre I would like to see him get more ball in attack. Think that he also needs to stand deeper so that he is running on to the ball

How does he compare to Noffa, from memory i thought they were similar style of players but i havent seen anything of him since he left Melb and even when i did i didnt pay much attention. Maybe they will be competing for one wing spot or i think i saw Fonua was playing in the centre's for Hull maybe it's between him and Milne.

I agree Fonua is a winger, Fonua would be useful on kick returns, and Rona played all 2016 at centre, in 2015 on the wing Rona scored 23 tries in 25 matches so we will have options and depth especially if Rona gets on board.

Watched Funa in the Hull FC Challenge Cup game on Fox.
Played centre.
He flew out of defensive line early in the game and I thought ….. O Boy he will fit right in with Nofoaluma.
But he settled in OK, played pretty well and scored the winning try with a 10m powerful run beating several defenders. Got MOM but not sure he did enough to deserve that.
He is nuggety and very powerfully built, Not a speedster and (for me) that he is not really a centre.

I just got a little bit excited seeing Mahe pull this shot off, I know there is a difference in the level of competition but a big hit is a big hit in any competition!!

Good move. He's earned it. Even after watching him regularly in ESL I only expected him to play a few games all year and to be behind Fonua and Milne, but he's been our most impressive 3/4 by a long way.

That's great news. He is really going well. Not so Fonua - way too many mistakes in his game at the moment. He needs to cut these out and he'b be pretty handy. He would be a dead set liability in firsts at present.

Why does it say in the official press release that he's signed for 2?
