Mahe Fonua

Hi Guys - Hull FC fan here from the UK. Fonua would be a very good signing for you. His running the ball back from kick returns is fantastic, always lands on his front for a quick play the ball. He is very strong in the air also, his leap is outstanding for a guy that isn't that tall. He isn't overly quick, over 40 metres he can be, but then he does fade a bit. He has good hands, good offload ability. Slight issues are defensively, but since he has moved back to the wing from centre, he has been better. His ball security can be dodgy - it was quite bad at the start of this season, but it is due to him trying to get a quick play the ball, and defenders were leaving hands in knowing that he fights to get up. With the 2 refs in the NRL, this will probably be clamped down on more, so I think he would be fine.

Thanks Wildie, he's an upgrade on what we have. I'm glad Gaz Ellis got a big win for you guys. He's my favorite Tiger of all time

Ellis has been immense for us since he came, though this year he has been injured quite a bit, seems age is catching up with him, yet it doesn't change his attitude to trying to hurt attackers when they run into him. Rumours are that he will hang his boots up at the end of the season and replace Motu Tony as our Football Manager

That's awesome mate. Ellis puts everything he has into every tackle and every hit-up,that's all you ask for in a player.

Always nice to get the perspective of other teams fans. If Hull need some outside backs, Tigers could probably help them out.

There are not many clips that people put together for tackles made, but this little video shows how much he puts into each hit

I wish he stayed… he was an amazing player. Probably our best player tbh. Never played a shocker.

This would not be a good signing if true. Which I haven't heard anything about. plenty of better backs on the market here

Question for the Gun

Could you please explain the stats you look at when buying a player let's say a center and a back row player if you have time I would like to have some insight

I had a search on the SL website to get up to date with the results and news over there. I noted in the stats that Manhe Fonua is the top metre maker in the whole of Super League. Very impressive being an outside back and hopefully great news if the rumours are true. Having himself and Nofo carting up the ball in the first couple of tackles will get us going fwd

I was surprised he went to ESL,
No interest fro, NRL clubs at the time ?

Interesting… cos he was solid at Melb.

I'm happy we've picked him up, he runs damn hard and is a pretty good finisher. He'll definitely help our go forward.
