Making noise

When it comes to making our presents felt from the crowd, we are the worst in the league. This year I've attended the Parra, Souths, Raiders and Dragons games and we're non existent. Apart from small pockets starting Tigers, Tigers here and there, that's about it. I've always believed that if we cheer our boys on, we're almost deadset certainties to win. In 2005 every game was loud from us but it's disappeared ever since. Boo, cheer and chant your head off, control the atmosphere at the ground, you'll fell better after the game knowing you bought the boys home. It drives me crazy playing someone like the Roosters, we outnumber them 5:1 and yet a small pocket of their vocal supporters can be heard loud for the whole game. We just sit there, we don't influence the game, we don't influence the Refs decisions or get in their heads or silence the opposing fans. Last night I was at the Bulldogs game and they were giving it the whole game, Panthers supporters didn't get a look in. A classic example of us not making noise was the Titans game at LO, Titans had no supporters there and what do we do, we go quiet too. Home ground advantage means nothing if we don't add to it. It's been happening way to much. Don't believe me, attend a game we play next time and see for yourself. Get loud Wests Tigers.

It was quiet when I went to the bulldogs game in the 1st half but I think it was more because everyone kind if felt like the bulldogs were going to over run us at any time, until we started hammering them

ive noticed this also various games ive attended in recent years, we're definitely not as vocal as we should be.

there's an easy fix to this, load up on more schooners pre-game.
 
Penrith at LO wasnt very vocal either despite a healthy crowd.

But I notice at times the Tigers chant goes up at the wrong time.

Last one I noticed the opposition had the ball, lost possesion and a scrum was to be set, we were in our own half a long way from the tryline (little attacking play to be forthcoming more field position) and the chant went up but they were still standing around for a minute as they do these days, having a breather before the scrum…..by the time we had the ball the chant died
 
I have always wondered why we dont look into those clap stick things in tigers colours… they would give the impression of inflated ratio on tv as they draw the eye, make us sound bigger as well...

the old "clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap Tigers" chants would run longer and more often just due to the sheer novelty as well, and there would probably be a promotional buck in there too...

That was a strange game, I go every LO game, and am right in the middle of the hill.

It was a very family affair, kids everywhere. (Nothing wrong with that).

However everyone was sitting down, not standing, was a very flat atmosphere.

The problem is these " small pockets of fans " that are loud have chants and can sing and chant them all night. I was at the saints game and there were a small group of Saints fans behind the posts that didn't shut up the whole game, but boy, didn't it sound good ( if you were a Saints fan ). All we've got is " TIGERS TIGERS TIGERS tigers until it slowly dies out.
It's been bought up on this forum before that we need some chants, and unfortunately that's as far as it goes.

The old Magpies flag wavers from Lidcombe to Orana in the 80's and 90's.. We had the best chants and were the most vocal. Who's with me?????
 
What happened to the old WT Fanatics? Probably all got old like the rest of us. They made plenty of noise around 05,06 etc

Are we as loud at the game as we are here. Nothing will change until we change. I can't believe the only noise I heard last night from the grandstand was after full time, and I must admit it sound good booing the referees off. A bit to late though, go home losers.
 
Again I'd like us to have individual chants for individual players when they hit the ball up

And you drag the last syllable until the ref calls held or they hit the turf

We could really create some fun and excitement around this and create some cult figures as well

Think over the years some of the others who have become second nature when they hit it up

Fui Fui ,Mark Tookey , Geoff Robinson

And my era in the QRL we had a bloke who played for Brisbane Norths who looked like Geoff Robinson

His name was Campbell Dews and his nickname was "ZULU"

Every time he touched the ball Norths fans would scream "ZULU " like the old Zulu movies

You old magpie flag wavers are stuck in the 80's and 90's. It's time to wake up ! I don't think there is anything wrong with the old balmain chant tigers

While I often join in with Tigers CLAP CLAP CLAP, It is quite boring and Im not trying to be smart. You only hear it once ever 10 minutes if your luck. Most of the time it's to far from where your sitting and by the time the chant spreads and people catch on you can only hear yourself and the guy 5 rows in front of you. All this for a good 10 seconds. Most don't bother after 3 attempts.
