Manly Week

Guys,
Manly will roll us Thursday night.
We are not yet a 80 min football side. Not yet anyway.
To beat Manly we need a form reversal.
Do YOU see it happening.
And if they did councidently play the full eighty minutes,
then how long would that last? Week to week?
This is not about our front row.
We have to realistic my fellow forum members & guests because in this stage in Potters coaching career - the
game plan for this week should in layman term 'KEEP UP WITH MANLY'
Surely we can do this.
If we can do this Thursday night then we have achieved our weekly vision or goal.
Enjoy this coming week -because our goal is simple in Gosford on Holy Thursday.
For me anyway.

cool story.

I was fairly sure that the Eels were going to roll us yesterday… I was wrong. Having said that if Hayne and Sandow hadn't gifted us two tries a piece it could've been a different story.

If we keep it simple and defend over 80 minutes we'll give ourselves a chance. Our kicking game has to be spot on. Manly are never comfortable playing at Bluetounge... if it was Brookvale it would be another story.

I don't think we'll have as much luck close to the line as we got against Parra and Penrith. Matai, Lyon, Glen Stewart and Watmough are no pushovers. It'd be nice to see Moltzen and Benji link up for a few midfield linebreaks. A bit of show and go from Miller might do the trick as well.

Could go either way.. we have to earn some respect regardless of the result.

If Potters game plan is to keep up with Manly then we might as well not play. We will have a shot at victory but we are going to have to play very very good football

Potter will need to quickly find a lot of defensive band aids for our side and if both sides play near potential Manly are clear cut favourites

These are the games one B Marshall has to stand up and perform

All Iam looking for is improvement each week,it will not get you a win every week, but you will win more than you loose. On paper Manly should dominate our pack, but funny things happen .

You have to remember Jamie Lyon will be running at our left edge as well…he is up there with the elite centres. On the other side you have Matai and Jorgue who are class. I'm not worried so much about our defense up the middle but man are we going to need to step up our defense on the fringes

It's kind of sad to admit but the same issues regarding selection mistakes will cost us against Manly imo. Potter has shown plenty to indicate he isn't going to make ongoing selection blunders but I can't see him selecting Tedesco at fb against Manly and I think that him at fullback would win us this match and without will cost us. His support play up the guts would make a critical difference in this match. Miller, Farah and the forwards will get through the middle often enough to create chances but Moltzen will not be there to ice them. Tedesco would be.

Didn't see the Manlt / Titans game, but hopefully they bashed each other good. We need some help and just a few niggling injuries could help us out. Give it your all boys, and you could come away with a win.

Titans were good, Manly were off….apparently it was very very hot...manly looked stuffed, they had to do a lot of defense on the back of a six day break and flying interstate...they'll do recovery today.....maybe get two sessions in before Thurs.
F'aoso is on report and I'd say he may well miss it but dunno his points....

....all that said, they'll be smarting over the loss, they still came home strong - theyve scored 52 points in three games in their 2nd halves, while we fade badly at the back...still Im not real confident here but I & many thought manly would win last night too

Without marika we got no chance, we are a small team we need speed

even if we did win we'd jag it.
We need to learn consistancy.
We've never had it in our short life.
We need to start all over again.
Looking forward to Thursday
our goal - to play 80 mins.
I"ll be grateful for that win or lose.

I think that would be the greatest victory of all just playing the 80 minutes. If we can start to do this the rest will start to fall into place.

I think we are seeing all this right now- there will be highs & lows - its under your nose

I think if we were down points on Friday night we wouldn't have switched off.
Other than Melbourne/Souths last year we give the top teams a run for their money no matter where we are. I don't see us getting demolished like rd 1 but it will be a close contest.

Can't see us winning this , hope i'm wrong , last year we started the year 1 from 6 but then won 7 in a row , from round 7 to 13 , so we already started better than last year 2 from 3 , so fingers crossed.

Not expecting too much from the team this coming week to be honest. Hopefully we turn that excellent first 30 minute effort against Parra into a longer period of excellence against the Sea Eagles, but I'm not expecting to win this one. I think their big aggressive pack will be putting too much pressure on our guys for them to be able to handle for the full 80 minutes. Having said that, it'll be a terrific guage of where we are at in our progression under Potter. Good luck to the boys, and I'm hoping they prove me wrong!!

Last year Tony Williams destroyed us, without him then they might not of won. He aint playing for them this year and their pack is a year older.

Agreed. They are a team on the slide. Said this many a time before, but I don't think Toovey has brought any new ideas to that team and they are running on the momentum from the Hasler years.

Not to say they won't beat us this Thursday, they are still a good team, but their final position this season will be lower than last season. I mean they recruited David Gower…....please!

Anyone can beat anyone in this comp. it'll be very tough (esp without sauce) but we have the players to win it

Can Penrith beat Souths tomorrow? i think not

They very nearly did.

At the very least Souths showed that greatodensraven comment has merit.

Manly are a good side and will be hard to beat and will rightfully start favourites.
If we play well and things go our way we can certainly win the game, if we play poorly we could easily get a hiding.
