If anybody thinks this has been done well, or a bit of fluff from Marina Go makes it better simply ask someone who supports another club - any club.
Without a doubt the WestsTigers management, team and brand are nothing but a joke

Well said…
All you Farah haters have every right to be so negative on him but whatever the outcome, to kick the current captain and longterm player, current NSW hooker out in this disrespectful manner is an outrage....a disgrace to any player coming to this club, I have had enough.

Sorry for being Lazy but does anybody have the contact details to cancel membership.

I will not support a group of pathetic amateurs, until I see a change both with admin and player treatment.

"Robbie’s contract has not been terminated, he has a contract with this Club for the next two seasons and that will be financially honoured no matter what."

wow thats a little bit of back peddling considering all the media + interviews with both robbie and the coach over the last 2 days.

i wonder if my old mate Dawn gave marina a call / serve for this pathetic mess the club has created.

Mate - you need to wake up

WHAT BACK PEDDLING?

He has always had a contract and it has to be paid, either all by us, all by someone else or part by us part by the other.

Wow that is weird!!!!

The weird thing is that after the initial statement stating will make no further comment until his playing future is decided.

There has been 3 pressers, letters, emails …blah blah blah...

You are now seeing a change in admin and player treatment. Personally I applaud it as it is long overdue and it has helped me in my decision to renew. Farah is a divisive figure and no better example than this thread.

I think this is excellent! How often did we scream for our previous CEO or chairman to make a statement about anything…..and got NOTHING. Thats right, NOTHING!!! Dont you guys remember?

There are many streams of thought on the Farah issue and I see both sides. I can read between the lines. I dont expect the club to come out and say he's been punted because he is a devisive pain and not a team player, which is the crux of it. Anyone other that us WT fans have been saying that for years.

I am so glad that the mysterious leak early in the week, with the clear intention to paint Robbie as the victim and the club as a-holes has backfired. Coach and chairman have come out publicly and not buckled.

Im disappointed that Robbie wont finish his time with us, but in a weird way im sort of relieved. I just pray, now that the message is clear to Robbie, that we make a clean cut and start 2016 fresh. I seriously hope that with Farah gone, we will see the end of 'tail wagging the dog' and the players running the show.

Swordy, the club had done enormous damage to its credibility in the manner in which this whole matter has been mishandled. Actually, it has been so badly mishandled that there appears to be correlation between the mishandling of this issue and our performance this year. The common link of course being our coach. I believe the issue is Farah knows Taylor can't coach and therefore does not believe his "vision".

Yeh! and he knew Sheens can't coach, Potter can't coach, now Taylor can't coach.

Common thread there Ace. Maybe the problem is he can't be told anything.

Can you imagine Melbourne doing this to Cam Smith?

_Posted using RoarFEED 4.2.0_

Nope .. they just cheated on the Salary Cap until they got caught. We are trying to fix our cap situation caused by some pretty incompetent management.

Why didn't Potter get his way why did we have to appoint another coach and wait another 12 months for change… We are heading for the spoon and JT had to blame someone else for his lack of experience in coaching His game plan and methods will never win us anything but the spoon. I for one think Farah needs to be put in his place but the way he has been treated and the way this matter has been handled shows that from boardroom to the coach and players there is no experience...
Jt needs to go now not in 12 months time when we go back to back for the spoon... We will always be rebuilding I for one don't want to wait another 10 years.

Frankly they should have released the letter first, and only the letter, and not made further comment.

Putting JT in front of two pressers gave the media a chance to leap on him, wind up the emotion and the hysteria.

Compare this to the Matt Lodge situation, we released a statement, everyone waits until there is further movement.

Sure the media will have questioned Farah and JT at future pressers, but JT could have avoided the topic totally and Farah would be stuck, unable to elaborate too much.

We've not handled the media well here. Who is our media guy now?

Some people on here are too critical of Farah.
He's earned the right to have a say in what he wants for the club.

I've been a supporter of Marina Go but in my opinion this statement is embarrassing. It makes it look worse than it already was.

No he doesn't. He is employed as a contractor to play at role at the club, and that is not the CEO.

He is not employed in any capacity to make business decisions at the club.

lol did you see the article where slater is quoted "loyalty still exists in the modern game".
yes loyalty exists if you've been signing 2 contracts throw in a couple of boats, cars and houses without telling anyone then years down the track when you're successful- tell everyone how much loyalty means to you.

watta load of crap.

tigers are trying to do what the storm did WITHOUT cheating.

Well, not Cameron Smith but they guy before him, Richard Swain. At the end of 2002 he was not offered a new deal from the storm despite representing the club in all 125 games and topping the tackle count for the NRL for four seasons. The fans weren't happy at all.

He said at the time (according to the book STORM CLOUD) "no one has come to see me face to face. They spoke to my manager …..its a loyalty thing; you expect to be treated a bit better". The book states "The timing of the axing meant he ended up going to Brisbane on minimum wage...."

All clubs have these issues at some time. It's never pretty, the media love it (they get to use words like shock and crisis and rabble) but from it often comes good.

I know everyone's been wondering what mctiger thinks so here goes.....I support the clubs decision.

" At the end of last year, both Jason Taylor and Phil Moss were appointed at the Club. They were given the task of turning the on-field performances around and along with this comes a range of tough decisions around player roster, processes and structures going forward. This is one of many of those tough decisions."

I think their 0 for 1!

Wests Tigers chairwoman Marina Go has opened up about the decision to offer captain Robbie Farah a release, saying it was time to put the club first to ensure it built a winning culture.

Farah is contracted to the joint-venture club for the next two seasons, eating up the best part of $2 million under the salary cap during that period. However, the Blues hooker has been told he is free to explore his options and that he will likely finish his career in the NSW Cup if he can't find a new home.

Go said Jason Taylor was given a mandate to build a strong culture when he was appointed coach and the board needed to back his decision to make the necessary changes, even if they were unpopular ones. "What we've been trying to do for the past year is rebuild a club around a winning culture because culture drives performance," Go said.

"It's not just this year that the club hasn't performed, we haven't performed for many years, so something has to change. We believe very strongly that we don't have a strong enough culture and the best sports teams in the world have strong cultures.

"In our strategic pillar we have [spoken of the need] to unite, it's in our plan and it's what was put to our coach when he joined us. We said 'we want you to build a united culture around a team that can win'. The result of that is things have played out this year. It's important we put the club first. We need to make decisions around the club and sometimes it's not easy and doesn't please anyone, but we're doing it because our members demand better performance from us, and so they should.

"We need to rebuild our club around a winning culture."

Asked if Farah didn't fit the culture the club was trying to foster, Go said: "Taking a big-picture view of the team and looking at where the opportunities are to increase the unity, spirit of the team and the culture, a decision has been made about what needs to happen next.

"As a result, we've informed Robbie we are giving him permission to speak to other people. We're not kicking him out, we've basically said 'based on what we want to achieve next year, we're happy for you to explore other options'. You'd have to say in the scheme of the big picture and what we need to build for the future, there's a sentiment that no, he doesn't."

Farah's management was told of the club's stance after the final State of Origin game, although the 31-year-old only learned of the decision during the week. The timing has left him with few options, as most clubs won't be able to afford a representative player, even if the wage is heavily subsidised by the Tigers.

It's understood Canberra have expressed interest and could be prepared to spend up to $250,000 per season, although that may not be enough to shift him to the nation's capital. South Sydney have denied interest but continue to be linked to Farah due to the departure of hooker Issac Luke and the fact Farah's brother, Eddie, is the Rabbitohs' physiotherapist.

The stumbling block could be that Cameron McInnes rejected offers to stay at Redfern after being promised first crack at the No.9 jersey next year. There is some interest from England, including Super League powerhouse Leeds, although Farah's preference is to remain in Australia. NSW coach Laurie Daley has revealed he has no qualms about selecting Farah even if the Tigers make good on their promise to dump him to the NSW Cup.

"We're not kicking Robbie out and if he is with the club next year, we won't disrespect him," Go said.

"He's an important part of the club. These things happen all the time. My youngest son put his arm around me and said 'I remember when Wayne Bennett got rid of Wally Lewis'. These things are done not for personal reasons but because the club is put first.

"Our members, quite rightly, want us to be performing and winning in the future. Sometimes you need to make difficult decisions to achieve future positive outcomes. It won't be easy, we know that. We're committed to building a stronger culture that translates to be better performance on field."
