Fat cat ex politician that will be all show no go! Another brain dead appointment if tue..this club is doomed forever of being a mediocre footy club . You need a person that can bring in the big end of town , you need a person that can bring the big sponsorship dollars . The board of this club have not got the required drive or the required desire to turn this club into what it should be . When ex politicians are being employed as chairman the writing is on the wall ! the boys club board will be happy . No high profile business females required here ,just failed politicians what a joke these people are!

Barry is the first person that I thought of as a replacement when the news broke about Go. He knows the big end of town and can bring sponsors to the club. Exactly what a Chairperson needs to do. I would be happy with his appointment if it happens.
You are correct about the fat cat politician,i dont care what side of politics they come from i would rather have a succesful businessman than a hack politician with doubts over his integrity as chairman.
We had a good chairman so the board backstabbed her and we are going to get an ex premier who was forced to resign because of impropriety in her place.The lunatics are running the asylum

We don't need bludging politicians on the board we need people who understand how to market a product, how to motivate a board on a sporting club and how to make a difference. Look how well Beattie has done ….. not!
Anybody on this forum could do as well as O'Barrell. Just like him we have a love of the club but we can't possible drive it to the next level. We need some young blood on the board not some old has been fart!

Iam happy with Barry, he is a WestsTigers man through and through, and he is interested in the game. He has been out in the real world for a long time now since his days at Macquire str and as other have said he is we’ll connected in the big end of town

Got busted on the take of a bottle of Grange from a Tigers person, can't remember his name. Probably the best thing the tigers have done since 2005
Unless we know who applied for the position its hard to be critical of the appointment.
The vision of who is ideal and the reality of who is prepared to want to take it on, may be worlds apart.
The fact that he is a Wests Tigers man, knows the game and the fan base, is a plus in my opinion. If he is on board the very least we can do is give him the opportunity to build on where we are at, before we condemn him.

Wests Tigers have today announced that former New South Wales Premier Barry O’Farrell has been appointed Chair of the Wests Tigers Board.
The 43rd Premier of New South Wales and Minister for Western Sydney from 2011 to 2014, O’Farrell is currently the CEO of Racing Australia and Chair of the board for the New South Wales Rugby League’s Foundation and Diabetes Australia.
A long-standing Member of Wests Tigers, O’Farrell will formally step in to the role as Chair in the coming week with Marina Go departing the club.
O'Farrell will be unveiled as Wests Tigers Chair at a press conference at 3:00pm today alongside Head Coach Michael Maguire and outgoing Chair Marina Go, with full details available afterwards on the club's website.
