Marshall should finish NRL career at Wests Tigers: Lawrence

I would say that the Dragons are highly unlikely to hang on to him after this year.

He will be turning 32 next year.

No thanks.

Having Benji _**back playing**_ at wests-tiger would be like, trying to get a music group, that had 2 male and female members, from Sweden in the 70's, re-form and expect similar success.( Thankyou for the Music)

Expectation is very hard to live up to and often leads to dis-appointment.

Just be grateful for the performances, we witnessed and memories that we have, and leave it at that.

Not with current roster as Moses and Brooks are the viewed as the long term halves for the Tigers and 3 into 2 won't go.

LOOK WE GOT BALLIN IN WHEN WE HAVE 2 GOOD HOOKERS, SO HAVING BENJI BACK IS NOT FAR FETCHED IS IT.

I wonder if Matt Ballin believes in Karma …. shame he is injured after what happened to MANLY last week he might have got a call back

Mrs Benji wouldn't allow Benji back anyway. She is the one that wears the jocks in that relationship so whatever she says goes.
Wasn't she moaning about missing her family having to live in NZ so they came back to Oz? Notwithstanding the fact that Benj would have wanted to hightail it away from his stint with the Blues in union beforehe embarrassed himself further.

Parcell is the real deal and will probably be the starting hooker at manly

When Ballin was signed the Farah saga was still going on with Taylor's view that Farah was hopefully on the way out. If the Tigers did sign Benji then where does he play?? If he plays in the halves who gets dropped?? Whoever gets dropped may look elsewhere particularly if Benji is signed on a 2 year deal which I'm sure he will be after. Benji has moved on and as much as he is a Tigers icon I can't see the Tigers offering him a contract given we are continuing to develop our two current halves in the hope that one day they will each realise their potential!!

Don't forget your fantasy league registration FTB

If Benji comes back people need to go , starting with the Big Mac

I don't believe for a second that the club would want him back even though Lawrence might. What a stupid thing for Rowdy to say. It's quite the slap in the face to our current halves from one of our "leaders".

There's nothing in it for the club though. I don't think sponsors will be knocking the door down to get involved with us because a once exciting number 6 is back playing at half speed. I think he needs to realise that the clock's about stopped on his value in the NRL. He's too involved with the media now anyway.

I love Benji and he is still my Favourite player ever but, there is nothing in it for the club, we have our halves and we have Farah, Lawrence and Taylor to guide them. If we wanted a halves coach we should of went for Johns.

Benji was an enigma. A once in a generation talent. Not as good as Joey, Loch, Thursty and Cronk yet on his day was capable of doing things those 4 could only dream of doing. Sometimes when he played we never looked like winning yet you couldn't rule out a miracle either. He made almost every game unmissable because the magic was ever present. That can't be taught.

However those days are few and far between now and our youngsters need to forge their own paths. I'd love to see Benji return to the club in some form but not as a player. If Taylor is all about structure then Marshal is the wrong fit. I feel sad to say this because he was instrumental in building this club. Maybe he can captain coach the 9's team next year….

I've got 2-3 NRL seasons left: Marshall

Benji Marshall says he's got two or three NRL seasons left in him, but accepts he may not be with St George Illawarra beyond this year.

The halfback, who helped the Dragons to the finals last season, is keen to stay but says he won't stand in the way of promising playmaker Drew Hutchison coming through. Former Kiwis captain Marshall admitted on Tuesday he wasn't confident of being offered a new deal and that there was a real possibility he'll be asked to move on. "In my situation, coming on 31, there's a lot of younger guys around the club that can lead this club in the future," he said.My priority is to stay here but I'm understanding that there might not be a chance of that happening, so my options are open and I'll put all the options out there to the wife. "Whatever one she think's the best - happy wife, happy life."

The Dragons have been linked with Melbourne halfback Cooper Cronk who is off contract at the Storm and believed to be keen on a move to Sydney.

Wests Tigers veteran centre Chris Lawrence recently called for 2005 premiership-winning playmaker Marshall to return to Concord, a possibility that he was open to."Obviously I've played 10-11 years at the Tigers (so) I'd never say no to anything," Marshall said.

"But at the moment I'm intent on trying to get a contract here first and foremost and if that doesn't happen, I'll just weigh up all my options after that and try and decide." As much as that would hinder what I'm going to do, I'll never get in the way of anyone or the club building their future around someone else."

Having recovered from an ankle injury that derailed their finals charge, Marshall will make his pre-season start alongside Hutchison in Saturday's Charity Shield clash against South Sydney at Homebush.

As they say never say never, at present the only thing we could offer Benji is a non playing role at the club, but if either the 6 or 7 decided to jump ship or suffer a serious injury things could change. I certainly would not sign him with our present squad, but things can change in a flash
