I dont get the issue with Marsters. His goal kicking isn't strong enough and perhaps after today we are seeing a change in kicker.

But his attack and D were alright. Certainly outplayed Hoffman and some really good DH runs.

You are not wrong but we need X Factor players, they dont need to be on top money...

Winger, Centre, halfback and two big aggressive forwards all with SPEED...

Problem solved.

Honestly I think you get the side consistently building a forwards platform, eliminate the errors coming out of our end and find wingers who can make good yards early in the set...

Then see what X factor Marsters has. They rarely give him good ball and even then he still usually beats his centre opponent.

Thing I have noticed 2019 is Marsters hardly offloads, which was a big component of his game 2018. I don't know if it's my imagination but the whole side seems loathe for second-phase, ad if Madge isn't a fan.

Our support play is diabolical

I agree with your offload point - we seem to have cut it out of our game. We did do some poor offloading a while back which cost us points and maybe Madge has got them trying to reduce their mistakes. At this point though I think we need something extra in attack and the offload is one of the most potent weapons.
Forwards that actually get over the advantage line and can poke through the defensive line are what we are missing.

There's an Mbye Thread couple of Jennings threads and a Marsters thread..

I like this one much better..

Bring back Kevvie, he doesn't seem so bad now. Is Mahe a chance of recovery this year? At least he puts in.

Can't understand how Momo is not getting a run over some of these guys. We have no backs at all

He's not exactly setting the world alight...

Willow, compared to who he would be replacing - they are still rubbing two wet sticks together.

But eventually those sticks will dry out and friction will cause a spark!

Maybe the tooth fairy will light them.

Mbye and Jennings are a woeful combination. Both constantly out of position. Mbye, fair enough, he's barely played centre but his mistakes are very costly. All Parra's tries came from these guys being out of position or their poor defensive reads.
They must be dropped or at least split up asap.

Marsters has been poor all season but the last couple of games he has been improving a lot. He shouldn't be kicking and as stated above I think his poor kicking might impact his general play. Mbye has also been ordinary all season.

I think though both of these guys have potential in the centres. Mbye is reasonably fast and he looked a lot better in the second half against Parra.

Jennings doesn't look likely at this point.

I think he is waiting and waiting and waiting for this lot to get their basics right before contemplating second phase offload errors.

@momo_amp_medo Surprisingly we rank 7th in the NRL for most offloads per team, way ahead of some of the top teams like the Storm, Roosters and Raiders.

Unfortunately the stats don’t tell us anything about the quality of our offloads. Dribbling the ball out the back of the ruck along the ground is an offload and counts just as much as a forward pushing through the ruck and finding a support player flying through for a line break.

We also rank in the top one or two teams for line engaged and decoy runs, but low for tries scored and line breaks. That tells me our setups are ineffective and/or our players aren’t good enough to take the opportunity to beat their opposing player when they actually have some space. TLDR: lack of strike and talent in the backline and edges. Probably wrong options being taken in the halves too.

Nice insights.....sounds about right

Jennings doesn't look fit enough. Is he carrying an injury?

Did a heartlidge..

Won't get medical retirement, it was a pre-existing condition.

I don't think it was, he scored 18 tries last year for souths and looked good, he has picked this injury up this year, although I think a heartliage can be cured with a stretch in CC

Yes I think he had a lobotomy in the off season - they took out the will to score tries, take hit ups and defend - lucky for us they missed the catch the bombs incision.

Lets just not kick for goal. There's a whole lot of upside. Esan doesn't cop the hit to his self belief, the opposition gets less rest time and we get more minutes to score more tries. Bring it.

I don't think players know this rule. It drives me mad when teams score with a minute to go to get within a try, then waste a minute kicking the goal when they don't have to. The shot at goal can be declined.
