Martin Taupau - Discussion Thread

Starting to get an idea how the passengers on the Titanic must have felt after it hit the iceberg!

My bet is that both clubs have offered significant coin as he would have signed as on bargain basement deal given he was relatively unknown.

I still think that there is probably an element of dissatisfaction with the coaching and administration which is adding some fuel to the fire.

He has a young family and probably trying to do the right thing by them so I really can't blame him for wanting to move on. That and we are a complete rabble!

Let him go. If he doesn't wanna be here, sayonara. The culture among the players is a disease, almost inoperable if this is true. Everyone blames big bad JT, but forget this playing roster has a history of dogging coaches. It just strengthens my belief even more that the board are doing the right thing and removing those who think they are bigger than the club.

Not sure if most people would agree with you there GNR…
Culture is usually driven by the coach, both potter and taylor have soft characters, most successful coaches demand respect, look at Bellamy, Hasler he was a teacher he knows how to communicate

Potter i would agree with you on, JT i'm not so sure. I'm not pretending JT is a saint, he had me offside the majority of the yr with his 5 tackle, bomb game plan, but he seemed to take the leash off towards the end of the yr. I just don't know if the players are completely innocent in this, they're suppose to be professional. Who needs a coach if they aren't allowed to stamp their authority?

Fair enough but I feel this day and age most clubs done't propose like the tigers do a long term building plan, they plan to win in 1 or 2 seasons thats whats probably pushing out players like Tapau who want to win now not risk building up a winning culture for four years when there days as a weapon are over.

Those saying let him go remind me of our coach and management team.
He is under contract next year he either sits out or there is a player swap i.e. they take Lawrence and Farah with him.

Really disappointing if he is not resigned. This just confirms for me Kimmorley will take over before the season starts.

See ya Marty big guy strong but reality is not much footy talent ..Dessie new this looks great with a lot of Plodders around him good luck.

Justs gets better with this club, wouldnt surprise me if more dont follow his lead.

It would be best for selfish players who have that petulant attitude to follow Farah out of the club's doors. This would allow the club to prepare for an onslaught on the player market before 2017.

A few people not caring if he leaves. Saying its all him.. i just think hes fed up with the constant crap of the coaches and the board… who the bloodu hell wouldn't. If he leaves our grunt and basicallu our entire fear factor is relonquished from the team we will be nothing and have no mongrel. Taylor is doing more bad than good.. infact i dont see much good at all really!!!

You must be kidding easily our most talented forward and would make a great front rower with woods next year. I am hoping this is a beat up but I can't understand where fans are coming from losing Taupau is a good thing.

Onslaught in the player market? Players would have to want to come to the club. Who in their right mind would want to come to a club that has a messed up direction and a coach that coaches the natural talents out of his players.

They would however be prepared to come to a club which has taken the brave step to build and maintain a culture where the club is not dominated by petulant players.

Taupau won't be here in 2016…

At this rate the whole club will be gone by 2020..

Probably the best outcome for us all, board coach players fans

Just pictured a world without the Tigers. Honestly would be so heart broken.

I feel for all you Magpie and Balmain supporters.

Sounds like the NRL need a marketing figure on the Gold Coast both clubs run by NRL appointed directors. :crazy :crazy :crazy :bawling :bawling :bawling
