Martin Taupau - Discussion Thread

Those saying let him go remind me of our coach and management team.
He is under contract next year he either sits out or there is a player swap i.e. they take Lawrence and Farah with him.

Really disappointing if he is not resigned. This just confirms for me Kimmorley will take over before the season starts.

He needs to be resigned because we need him. He can be a great player for us and will win us games.

Taupau won't be here in 2016…

At this rate the whole club will be gone by 2020..

Probably the best outcome for us all, board coach players fans

Just pictured a world without the Tigers. Honestly would be so heart broken.

I feel for all you Magpie and Balmain supporters.

Mate, I have been through it as a former Newtown supporter. It is not pretty and very heartbreaking. A lot of this anguish for a certain player is misguided. The supporters should instead be 100% concerned for the future of their club and trying their best to stabilise this crisis the club is facing.

The JT sympathisers really need to ease up and not just a little bit. I've said on multiple times he is the worst rookie coach that I have seen.

Terrible game plans. Terrible man management. Terrible media savvy.

JT offers nothing and at some point this has to stop.

Just what i have predicted maybe not so soon but wouldn't surprise me if true .
Our Club is Toxic…...what is the appealing bit about our Club ? Is it the POTENTIAL we are led to believe ? Jason Taylor and his astute Coaching and Managing skills ? That we have more grounds than any other Club to play ? Our Members will be lined up for Days to renew there Season Tickets ?

Some sour Grapes on here now pfff he can go :unamused:  , yeah we have Sonny Bill Williams lined up to replace him .
What a coincidence he wants out , the Club stated a few weeks back that it started talking to Taupau's Agent about an extension.

Interesting there asking Farah to leave the Club so they can't be hypocritical if Taupau wants out ? release him....we are planning for the future right ? what's the point forcing Taupau to stay for 2016 if 2017 he sees his future elsewhere ( providing this is all true ).
We have released Galloway from his final year of his contract it's only fair Taupau is given the same treatment .
No player is bigger than the Club right ?
Tedesco will be the next player gone i reckon .

Would you seriously want to be Coached by Pasty face ? i know what i would want to do if i want to further my Career.
Loyalty is Dead Marty look after your Family .

Lol hope the club didn't already use his money on rankin and hunt.

Those pair would be cheap, and probably 2nd tier cap any way, but it would not surprise me one bit if they did something like that.

There's a lot of unstable rosters around at the moment
– weak teams trying to boost,
-- clubs with cap issues,
-- teams whose roster has declined rapidly (eg Souths)

You need quality bait to catch good fish- and though I'd hate to see him go, Taupau is our best bait...

Who knows, we might score a partially funded centre/backrower or both?

And i'd suggest his critics ease up. He made the finals in his first two yrs as an NRL coach, which immediately renders your statement about him as a rookie coach moot

But lets say you're right, the players brought it on themselves by dogging their last coach. Some might call it karma.

Justs gets better with this club, wouldnt surprise me if more dont follow his lead.

It would be best for selfish players who have that petulant attitude to follow Farah out of the club's doors. This would allow the club to prepare for an onslaught on the player market before 2017.

Onslaught in the player market? Players would have to want to come to the club. Who in their right mind would want to come to a club that has a messed up direction and a coach that coaches the natural talents out of his players.

Who would want to coach this club after the club's last two coaches have been stabbed in the back by current player/s?

The strong clubs just get stronger, while the weak clubs just get weaker. WT may as well just implode and pack it in now. I really can't be bothered anymore with the joke that this once great game has now become.

This so sad - we fans are left to hang, no one seems to care (enough) - the emotional wrench of this on top of the worsening Farah episode, and the so-called salary cap limits based upon disgraceful club management (and therefore limited player purchases to even enable a competitive squad) - this is absolute hell, without any positives….....

Shameful really.......

As much as I like Martin Tapau, he will not be the 'reason' the Tigers climb to the top of the table anytime soon. He's an 'impact' player, not a dominant player.

The Tigers would be a little foolish to invest too heavily into him. Not saying he's a player we shouldn't re-sign, or shouldn't try to keep, but he's no Aaron Woods for example.

For mine Tapau is a very good complimentary type player. Really good teams have guys like Tapau play as a bit of a shock weapon.

This team could really do with another Gareth Ellis type second rower to mix with Sironen (Lock) & Lawrence.

He's the only player that we have/had who scares the opposition, with a good coach and work on his game he could be anything

Let him go. If he doesn't wanna be here, sayonara. The culture among the players is a disease, almost inoperable if this is true. Everyone blames big bad JT, but forget this playing roster has a history of dogging coaches. It just strengthens my belief even more that the board are doing the right thing and removing those who think they are bigger than the club.

I think that the players have more of an idea than us, as to whether they are wasting their time and careers by playing under Taylor. He probably won't be the last.

See ya Marty big guy strong but reality is not much footy talent ..Dessie new this looks great with a lot of Plodders around him good luck.

Wondered how long it'd take before the crap would be aimed at him , just one question , who are we going to replace him with, if he does go.

When they are in denial , as some here are, it's going to take a lot to get them to see the damage that Taylor and the board have caused already, your right , it will cost the earth to get anyone , other than the leftovers to come here.

Wouldn't let Noddy coach z grade.

You people talk about JT being a Rookie.

We seem to let forwards go with any real physical talent O'Donnell, Teo, Fifita, Ellis.
We like weak, slow forwards with no punch its our forte.
