Its simple Tigers will retain if they pay more in 2016\. If they don't up the salary next year he s gone.

That makes absolutely no sense

If the Tigers increase his minimal contract next year from $150k to $550k and then extend on the same terms as Manly we will keep him as we are the only club that can pay him more in 2016\. Money talks and it is actually the Tigers that can pay him more than Manly as he is contracted with us in 2016 on a low salary which, we can enforce.

The real question is what his Valuation is for the Tigers we can't pay overs.

Not worth 550k - a 550k player should play for 80 minutes.

If he goes - he goes. I am a fan but not that type of money.

With respect I disagree. He can deliver 60 quality impact minutes. He averages 105 metres and 27 tackles in his first year as a starter. I am prepared to back his potential to be dominant and play longer minutes. Who else is going to sign with us. We will replace him with a plodder WT Style.

What was offered is more than fair (if it is in fact true.)

Why would the club up his salary for next year if he's going to split anyway? Spend the money elsewhere and plan for the future.

He is staying this season and leaving for Manly the season after. It's clear as day from his comments above. Wish he'd just come out and say that. He still might and I'll applaud him if he does.

Looks like, for the short term, we'll be weakening our roster to make it stronger. Doesn't look good for Taylor. The media will make sure he gets the sack if results don't go our way. When we come good from it all, at least he'll be able to say he was the architect of it because I highly doubt he'll be in charge when it happens.

"Clear as day"?

Where exactly did he say that he will be leaving?

Get a grip. Or perhaps, loosen the grip?

Oh cmon - he's had every chance here to answer a pretty simple question about his future and done the opposite. It's not clear as day that he's choosing Manly but his comments inspire little confidence in his desire to stay with us. My grip is pretty spot on.

The problem with some people on this forum is that they make comments, not on what is said, but what they perceive of what was said. He said nothing, I repeat, nothing about leaving, Manly, money, or any other club.

Can people just WAIT and see what happens instead of bloviating about something that they know absolutely nothing about.

I think I'm agreeing with col for once.

He certainly left himself a lot of leeway…

He wouldn't make a very good modern politician.

You'd definitely know when he was ready to roll you.

A Canadian film critic is claiming to have been emailed Martin Taupau's contract with Manly. Saying it's a 4 year deal starting next season.

LOL it seems to be legit too, email was sent to the wrong J Kelly (was meant for Manlys CEo Joe Kelly). Hilarious. Cant imagine Taupau will be too happy with his manager or whoever sent it.

Signed a contract while he was under contract - Should be made to sit on the sidelines for a year and the contracted amount come out of Manly's cap.

Yep he's gone. Tweeted something out about growth a few weeks ago with the Eagles membership slogan #strongertogether. All respect lost for Taupau

You would have to assume if he signed a contract he has been told he will be released.

Deadset it seems anyone who comes in contact with WT turn into a bumbling idiot. Can someone chech the filters in the aircon at Concord?

Btw the leaked contract isn't signed, does seem like a formality though. I'm over it and him. Manly can have him as long as we're properly compensated.

People are showing disgust from Taupau, but why are we not looking at why he even wants to leave? Say money, but really the offer from Manly isn't going to be much more than what we could offer for 2017 onwards (when our cap is much cleaner). We have to be seriously worried about why someone like Taupau, who owes a lot to the Tigers for giving him the opportunity to break through, would want to leave with the potential shown in our key players. I'm very worried about the impact Taylor is having on players wanting to stay at the club, next thing Brooks & Moses will want out, and all the investment we've made in our future will have been destroyed.

May not be Taylor, might be Robbie staying.

Daily telegraph are reporting Marty Taupau has signed with Manly. Apparently a contract for him was sent to a random person named J Kelly that was intended for Manly CEO J Kelly.

A Canadian theatre critic by the name of James Kelly Nestruck has received a cracking NRL scoop after an email meant for Manly CEO Joe Kelly arrived in his inbox which revealed Wests Tigers forward Martin Taupau will be leaving for the Manly Sea Eagles.
>
In what appears to be an incredible email mix-up, Nestruck claims to have received an email from a British legal professional outlining Taupau's new four-year contract at Manly.
>
One explanation for the mistake could be that Nestruck bears the same first initial and surname to that of Sea Eagles CEO Joe Kelly.
>
Nestruck didn't wait long to break the biggest the rugby league story to come out of North America, shocking Tigers fans and sending social media into overdrive.

>
Taupau, 25, has been linked to the Sea Eagles, but there has been no official confirmation of his release.
>
J. Kelly Nestruck was trending on Twitter in Sydney on Friday morning.

Good luck to him….he should play 2016 off the bench as an impact player...as this is the best role for him and the WT.

Yeah i call that a load of crap. You'd think any agent knows (and would have saved in their address book) the emails of prominent people like CEO. <jkelly@manlyseeagles.com.au>would be hard to mistake with <jkelly@gmail.com>(or whatever), and why would an agent have or type a generic email address?? Some random wanting some attention more likely.

And even if it were one of the worst screw up ever by any agent of any sport, seeing it was starting next season it could be one of a number of contracts Manly had prepared to entice him. He hasn't asked for a release, nor have we granted him one. So it could be just another piece of paper. If it were starting 2017 it may have been more plausible and current.

For all we know the Lurker emailed this goofball just to get another 'scoop' for Sportal.

Also, Taupau didn't tweet a manly hashtag either, if anything it's actually the Welsh football team's slogan. Maybe he's defecting to play football for Wales?? Or maybe he was tweeting about the importance of friendships to a mate/partner… Nope must be a conspiracy! lol</jkelly@gmail.com></jkelly@manlyseeagles.com.au>

I'm sick of the Tigers becoming a bloody halfway house. We give so many fringe players an opportunity and they bail at the first chance they get.

Maybe we need to change a number of things to get our house in order, but at the end of the day their has to be some sort of coaching strategy in this.
- Marty isn't on much
- No gain in letting him leave
- Stick him on the bench. If he doesn't like it he can let his form drop and ruin his own career

I'm over this shit. Watch what will happen in 2016…Woods will carry all the load and everything will go to shit
