Losing Addo Carr was pants on head stupid. How we managed to let him go boggles the mind.

I watched him play in NSW Cup a few times.
More often than not he was below average.

That's funny because I watched him play in NSW cup a few times and he always scored 2 or 3 tries which is exactly how you can tell someone is a first grader.

Look the facts are, JAC was still young. Last year was his first non NYC year. He wanted to be here. He was a Tigers fan from childhood. It was a dream for him. And he's fast. The fastest maybe. We need guys like him because they are hugely influential to the culture.

Spot on !!

All that stuff he sprouted is a load of rubbish.
He may have been a Tigers fan but if he really wanted to play for us he would have put his head down and tried to prove himself and earn a contract. Instead he signed with Melbourne before the season was even halfway done.

why are you so sure about that?
he may have been jerked around like others have been, and not wanted to be treated the same,

Melbourne saw korobete as a first grade winger and snapped him up,tigers barely gave him a shot in first grade,Melbourne saw Addo-car and saw a first grade winger and snapped him up,he got a few more games in firsts then koro, but with Rankin always picked ahead of you im sure he saw his future as pretty glim,Melbourne saw Papenhuyzen as a young talented back with a big future and snapped him up…..can you see a pattern here?
The storm keep stealing our players from underneath the Wests Tigers noses because the club is too slow at recognizing talent and securing it.

I see a pattern of you cherry-picking 3 players, one of whom left after one contract, one who is 7 weeks into a new contract and one who has not even played one FG game yet.

You could argue that Melbourne have a habit of buying Tigers players who leave them for rugby.

We know the JAC story, contrary to what you write, was recognised and secured from Sharks NYC. Rankin got picked first, JAC got annoyed and sounded out other clubs, Melbourne put in an offer. He didn't inform Tigers and when Tigers moved on his next contract, he tried to renege and could not.

Melbourne buy and churn through the same number of footballers as other clubs, if you keep a list of the players they gamble on, you will find a lot who do not end up playing FG. However what Melbourne do have is a very good team-building system and they have an ability to find players who fit their needs and play to team game plan.

You left our Junior Moors, how did he go at Melbourne?

Don't forget we let Fifita go to keep Woods.

Not true .We let Fifita and Gibbs to go to keep Matt Groat

The beginning of our downfall - or the so called breaking "up of the boys" club rebuilding phase.
Thats going real well for us. As I have said before that boys club was the best thing that ever happened to this club and fans bought into all the media crap about the infighting between Farah and Benji about the players running the club blah blah all absolute unubstantiated lies.
We had a group of dedicated players who were tight and loved the club and performed well on the field. And since we turfed them the club has gone backwards and not ever looked like recovering.
Funnily enough the club where most of them ended up has gone on to be in the strongest position it has ever been in.

We can thank JT for losing JAC. I'd leave too if Jordan Rankin was playing on the wing ahead of me.

Such a boneheaded decision by JT. Makes me so angry everytime I remember it.

Thats right.
Bryce was the WT and that was the begging of the end
Fifita won Cronulla a GF last year.
These guys were loyal including Austin who didn't want to leave but the were moved on while our disloyal locals shaft us.

Gibbs was a loss, but he didn't do much at Cronulla. His body was falling apart, and even in retrospect it was a good decision.

Rubbish - Austin signed with Canberra for the following year on a three year deal.

The Tigers then released him for that year to give someone (Moses I think) a go that wanted to stay at the club (that turned out to be a joke).

However he was going and signed with Canberra before the Tigers knew about it. We did not have a choice - he wanted out, to get out of the big city yadda yadda yadda.

People on hear keep blaming the club for letting Austin and JAC go - they did not have an option. Get it right folks.

Agree, that is why we signed Idris as a centre.

Not quite right. Brooks and Moses were both signed long-term before Austin signed with Tigers. Austin was looking for a restart after Penrith, and got it with us, but he was then offered a 3-year deal from the Raiders in his first year with us.

Knowing that Tigers had invested long-term in Broses, he requested and was granted a release. We wanted him to be a specialist #14 and he wanted to start in the halves. Fair and gentlemanly deal by all.

Nope to both of you MM and TT.

Gibbs was moved on because of his age and injuries. Sharks agreed to take Gibbs for 2012 if we added Fifita, for whom we had an option in our favour. We agreed, in hindsight it was a mistake, though Fifita's form had plateaued for us and we were not guaranteed to be able to get him to achieve his best.

Groat was just an emerging kid back then, the next in line; BMM was ahead of him at this time.

Then the team flunked big time in 2012 and Sheens tried to break up the "boys club" you mention, not Benji and Farah, but the other boys whose time they felt was winding up - Beau Ryan, Heighington etc. Gareth Ellis asked for and was granted a release. Simon Dwyer had had his career ended the previous year, Chris Lawrence dislocated his hip the same year.

The issue was that the core group who achieved success between 2009-2011 (because we almost did make it 2009, and Parra who took our spot went on to make the GF) were falling away. Usually a playing group has a window of opportunity for success.

Just look at the Bulldogs now, on paper they have a strong football side but for many of them their best days are behind them. Hence Bulldogs maneuvering to split their own "boys club" and move certain players on, players who still might have something to offer other clubs.

well said, Fifita was frustrating to watch, with his endless sideways runs,he had at best 2 good games for us, at the time it was not a big loss. But isn't it easy to be Monday morning quarterback?
We had a series of unfortunate/tragic events: Tuiaki, Dwyer, Ellis/Moltzen suffered series of injuries, and than Mosese tragedy
