Match Review and Judiciary Thread

So is Api.

Difference being that it's not nice to see him get a suspension, especially when it's 3 weeks.

The NRL waved the official wet lettuce leaf today Ponga only facing a small fine of his match payment last night.Double standards apply as usual.
TBH I would rather any Origin related transgressions are not carried on to club games, punish them in game more harshly than you would for a normal game fine them a larger percent of their match payment, ban them from origin matches in the future, penalise the team by losing interchanges etc..im sure there are plenty of creative ideas..however it should not impact the club or fans.

I dont understand how you think the ponga situation was OK, but Api and the "hip drops" deserve the punishment.
I don’t think it was ok and said so at the time. Sin bin was warranted. Send off was an over reaction.
Api is a serial offender, too dumb to change a clear flaw in his technique and it costs us every year..actually a few times a year.

It is double standards but the double standards are Origin and NRL. Origin literally operates under a different judiciary code. Grade 2 contact in Origin is a fine. Grade 2 contact in NRL is 2 weeks.

So player safety is not as important at higher levels of the sport?i am not having a shot at you just highlighting the stupidity of the NRL's logic.

Rightly or wrongly, It was overhauled in 2022 due to clubs complaining they were losing players to suspensions they received for Origin.
Anything egregious (Grade 3, maximum for a charge rather than direct referral is still treated the same).

Surprised Anus-ley hasn't come out and said something like it is different to the regular NRL rounds because the individual teams are managed by their respective state bodies.

The New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) selects and manages the Blues, while the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) selects and manages the Maroons, so as a result different rules and penalties apply to the two different competitions.

They originally said the overhaul was for minor offences. (Post 752 in origin thread for link)
Not having a go at you but a.player missing 2 games and.potetially the next origin i wouldnt see as minor...when we are looking at the end result of the offence..the extent of injury...which it seems how they judge hip drops

They still say 'minor offences' but they define minor offences as anything grade 1 or 2. So whilst we see outcome affect grading once it's been graded as grade 2 it's deemed minor.
So the question isn't so much is the outcome of missing 2 games and potentially an Origin minor but is it worthy of increasing the grade from 2 to 3?

However If we are comparing it to hip drop outcomes then I find it hard to argue that it isn't minor. There has only been one hip drop this year that has been graded higher than 2 (Couchman he got 4 weeks and Hopgood ACL). Yet estimated injury times of 2-3 months for Kenny, Martin and Iongi all Grade 2 charges.
