I think it's s stupid signing IF Farah stays especially with all the talk all this year about cap issues and the club being broke.. We are probably (I'm guessing here) spending 1.2-1.4 million per season on players that play hooker.
But if looking at this signing with a glass half full attitude, two positive scenarios can be created with Ballin coming to the Tigers if Farah is staying;
1\. Signing Ballin keeps Farah accountable so he's not a walk up start each week, therefore makes him train harder which in turn is seen by the younger players (who apparently follow and love Farah) which in turn makes them push harder because their mature leader is now pushing himself to the next level at training and on game day. He hasn't had to do that in years and maybe that reaction is rubbing off on the baby tiger cubs.

2\. Thinking outside the box with this one, but maybe Taylor plays all three (Farah, Ballin with cherringron on the bench) in the starting 17\. You have 450 games of experience between the two, they both can tackle and keep the middle of the park tight and this gives Farah the opportunity to inject himself either at hooker with tiring defense or even in the attacking line as another ball player and kicker. Ballin directs the young halves around with his direct approach from dummy half and cherrington replacing him at back end of each half as an extra spark with more speed around the ruck, tired forwards and a reduced interchange.
If Taylor isn't working with one of these scenarios and brought in Ballin purely on emotion, he's just if not more petty as Farah and that's not good …
