Haven’t been a fan but very solid tonight. Deserves a spot next week

That’s what you want from your fringe players. If they get an opportunity, they grab it with both hands.

Enough. I have nothing personal against anyone in our roster but to say he was good is just showing how bad our roster is. He managed to stay upright during a few tackles, was solid in defence. That's it. C'mon guys, he never tackle busts, he doenst give regular fast play the balls, he doesn't lay people on their backs, doesnt have a good pass, doesnt offload and doesnt make big meters.

He played 61 minutes after not playing for 8 months. He made 116m - the only forward better was Aloiai with 135. He made 49 post contact metres, a tackle break, an offload and 40 tackles at 91% efficiency. His play the ball speed was about the same as the rest of the team.

I disagree with you, I consider that a good game.

Mate stats don't tell the whole story. Those were not hard metres. Nofo and leilua ran much more and right up the guts too. Sure solid performance but nothing in that makes me want to keep him. Did you watch the eels vs roosters? I would take any forward in there over Huth.

I have never been an huth fan, I have always believed that he lacked mongrel and was happy just to turn up, also a tall piece of timber like him should have someone like Brooks hanging off his hip, the bloke is built for offloads.
Last night was a good honest display, positive signs, keep it up huth.

Still not sold on the huth. You need to take notice of how he goes against hard teams. This has been our problem in the past, a player has a solid game against an average team and all of a sudden is considered great again. Madge isn't stupid and you must be consistent to prove your worth. Let's hope the message has gotten through and he finally stands up and starts to dominate because he always seems to be in 2nd gear to me.

Huth did well last night in his 14 hit ups 133m and 40 tackles off the bench. Played 3/4 of the game due to injuries and yes he will never be a superstar but worked his backside off and held the middle for us. They only scored from an intercept and kicks to the wing. Compare that to Maguire 13 run 118m 28 tackles and Hess 9 run 77m, 32 tackles in 80 minutes who are both SOO players for Queensland and he did not do too bad.

Great win and hope the raiders can win by 7 or more today and were in the 8 for a week

I believe Huth is a perfect anti-Taumalolo strategy. I've said this before, his 1-1 defence with even the biggest and most powerful forwards is really impressive (Twal also, but Huth is larger) and this is particularly evident on the try line.

Not that other Tigers didn't handle JT pretty well last night (Grant, McIntyre), but Huth is just that perfect counter-defender for a forwards power game.

So your argument to me using stats is to quote stats of other players?

We'll have to agree to disagree - Huth seems to have performed well according to most.

Still can't understand why Madge was pushing Clark and Seyfarth over Huth

With the roles they fill the Huth is 100% better than both

I’d say fitness mate . Madge said he rewarded those who put in over the break. Not saying huth didn’t put in , but there has to be a carrot to dangle for these fringe players .
Also Seyfarth is just undersized . That’s all it is . You can’t be a machine , without the magic needle at 21. If he keeps Maintaining his gains in the gym , he will look like Thor in no time . He’s on his way, it just takes time .

Hahaha where are the "hard metres" vs "easy metres" stats, which company is keeping those to hand?

Yep and they are scrambling and fighting over each other to put a WT's jersey on

He made 50 post contact metres, I expect they're considered hard metres.

He’s a massive downgrade from Twal. His importance is understated he slows the ruck and makes tackles moving forward not letting forwards get up speed. Eiso has zero line speed it’s a problem they roll the ruck when he is in stats don’t show it.

Sorry mate I didnt mean to upset you. I said stats don't tell the whole story not that they're useless. There were two Eisenhuth posts on the forum I don't think that his performance was so stellar that it warranted them. You know what lets look at his performance in the coming weeks and hope you can make me eat humble pie with whatever it is you think makes him so good.

Exactly. I remember wood's stats were insane (and he was good) but his post contact metres were made walking and the opposition always had time to reset.

No problem, not upset at all.

However, I do believe when someone plays well they deserve recognition. I'm not a huge Huth fan but yesterday he stepped in and played way more minutes than he would have been expecting and racked up some impressive stats. He ran harder than I recall in previous years and was tight around the middle.

I would of course have Twal instead, but if he performs like yesterday he'll be challenging for a spot each week and that's got to make the team stronger.

We'll there's metres out of your 10 when their defence is reset and metres when you're already on a roll. A hard meter eater for example is nofo.

I have always thought he was too similar to Twal to have them both.

Both work...and work...give you 100.

But never physically dominate.

Given Twal is hurt though, would be very happy to see Huth get given that 13 role.

Going forward Twal whilst doing a good job at the moment should not be our 13, we need to find a Murray, Brown, Radley, Yeo, Elliott type player who has some ball skills and hunts around the ruck
