Maybe its time to go to Perth

I cannot understand why so called Wests Tigers supporters living in Sydney would even think about their team re-locating to Perth. From experience I can tell you that if a relocation did occur you would no longer have a team you could support with your heart.

All i am saying is don't rule it out down the track. NRL Want a team in Perth long term. Sydney teams might struggle if they go to 2 stadium policy.

With our name, and our plight in Sydney at present we might be the best fit, if they offer a package to relocate. Especially with the NRL independent board members having control.

We have alrwady had to go begging to the NRL for help, more of the same embarrasment on and off the pitch and we might have no choice. We need to pick up our act. Were a laughing stock at the minute.

Speak for yourself not for everyone.
Weve all been thru some form of upheaval with our original clubs and everyone sees and feels things their OWN way.
I myself - before it occured - thought I knew how id feel in the JV happened in 2000…my feelings changed within a few years.

If it did happen they would still be playing in Sydney quite a few times per year, albeit on an away team basis
I wouldnt be surprise dif it occured down the track
 
Since when does form dictate whether we move or not? Surely it purely comes to finances, not how we're playing on the field. We're not the Magpies of 98-99, we've never even gotten the wooden spoon.
 
:smiley: @ink,completely understand your previous post,but do you or others think that rugby league is more of an Eastern Australia thing,I say that because some of my friends that live in the Greater Sydney area support the Storm and others support Broncos and Cowboys.Is it that all think that Perth is so far away and would not be viable to support a team so distant,considering flying to Qld or Melb is much easier. :slight_smile:
 
I don't think this whole independent board control is such a big deal to be honest. If the NRL want to do something (like relocate to Perth) then all balmain has to do is give the magpies one or more of their seats on the wests tigers board in exchange for the money to repay the NRL and there you have it they would be powerless to move us anywhere, assuming wests/balmain aren't interested in moving of course.

Besides i dont think we're the team that the NRL would want to relocate as they need a team in south-west sydney to fight the code battle. However, they don't need two teams around the shire and thats why i think the Cronulla sharks will eventually make way for the Perth Sharks or West-Coast Sharks (has a ring to it ayye ?)

If we start winning, the sponsors will be lining up,memeberships will increase, the finances will improve, then the facilities can be upgraded and adeqaute medical staff can be apointed and the cycle will continue from there.

Winning starts in 2015 In my books and then hopefully the cycle can kick off and all this talk of relocation can slowly die away…

Tony, that may be unconstitutional to sell a board spot to Western suburbs.

The NRL deal is basically in place to stop the Wests Tigers from falling over as the JV deal is supposed to be 50/50\. NRL money a simple loan to the Balmain side.

Having said that I have never read the constitution.

You'd be doing well to name a sport that DOESNT have a team in Perth, except NRL of course. I'd like to know why you think the NRL couldnt do it but rugby,soccer,basketball, netball all can?
 
If we go to Perth thats the last straw for me.

Like do we and our club with our joint history just exist to service NRL promotion.

What crap.
 
I'm with you Magpie Magic,Perth no go for me,having said that I really think the NRL would be mad to let that happen the Magpie and Tiger brand Wests Tigers is a huge promotional piece for them,would cost them heaps in lost revenue. :unamused: :unamused:

I remember before the NRL offered us the money, western suburbs offered to lend balmain the money in exchange for more power on the board; so i think that would be more preferbale for both parties rather than relocation to Perth.

Just to throw a curve ball.
Balmain are still paying B Elias 21k a month for some reason. B Elias is on the board of Perth Glory and has interests in getting a Perth NRL license. Is it at all possible that IF the NRL want to relocate us that balmain agree to these terms to 'payout' Benny? Dawn
Fraser is Glory's No1 ticket holder aswell weirdly.

It won't be a call made by Balmain or Benny. The NRL can make an offer to WT or any club for that matter and be assisted to make the move, but in our case I don't think the Wests Group are going to be interested in such a move. Wests are financial and need to remain here for the sake of looking after their juniors.
