lacks effort, doesn’t want collision, reads numbers poorly in attack and defence and is a slow decision maker.

I don't really agree with any of this. He hits fairly hard IMO so I don't know what you mean about the collision, and this was proven doubly to me when he played Origin and was mostly tasked with defending.

I also don't see him beaten defending at centre, or making huge mistakes? Last week Eels peppered his LHS defence but for me Jennings was mostly the man caught in no-man's-land.

The thing for me is Mbye is competent to average in different aspects across the park. I'd hardly say he's poor at anything specific - it's reasonable first grade, often unexciting, standard. In that regard, I will not argue that he's not overpaid, because eventually we are paying him higher-end money (i.e. he was much better value when Dogs were taking more freight).

I understand people's frustration - that Mbye sometimes shows much better form, which isn't brought to that level every week. I don't think it's for fear of contact or being able to read the game, it just seems his intensity and concentration isn't equal week on week.

We see it differently and I was a fan of his. He got caught with the ball on attacking plays numerous times at fullback when all he had to do was hit the centre. **Numerous feeble efforts defending the try line also**. Played better at centre but you can’t have the highest paid player and captain turning up when he wants to has to be every week especially at centre. Hopefully I’m proved wrong but I reckon I’ve seen enough.

That was the final straw for me. The lack of willingness to put the body on the line to save the try. He doesn't seem like a big talker on the field, so as a captain you have to lead in some way and i would have thought without talk, that it would be through actions. In his defence, he has on occasion thrown himself at it, but too few and far between for me.

Good morning @trafford10: one of Our most highly respected and experienced forumers ie Cultured_Bogan [with a name like that why wouldn't he be] has stated "nothing stopping fans from other clubs joining up here", so all there is left for me to say is "welcome to Our Wests Tigers Forum and enjoy the footy", cheers mate.

@MAGPIES1963 thanks, I've been on your forum before a few times. Never been threatened with being banned before. btw this is tame, you should of seen the arguements that were had on the kennel about Mybe.

G'day @trafford10: to my knowledge, no one threatened to ban you from Our Wests Tigers Forum, most certainly not me. I did suggest it though, but a wiser mind than mine said there was no need as you had done nothing wrong. Over and out :relaxed:

Apart from a "good bloke" and someone who would get along with teammates, I really dont understand or see the qualities that made him be chosen as club captain..IMO next year this should change and Ryan Matterson be named our club captain

“Yeah... we’re developing a bit of a pattern... hindering ourselves... letting a few games slip...”

Geez mate you don’t say! This is our lackadaisical nature and general mental softness which seems to pervade the psyche of our players when they rock up on game day. Fire up!

I agree where's the fire in the belly on game day, that's when they need it- not at training, the same old mental problems are creeping back into the side - fire up boys:white_frowning_face:

Wests Tigers captain Moses Mbye says his side aren't shying away from the opportunity and challenge ahead of them as they look to end a run of consecutive defeats this Saturday.

Having slipped outside the top eight with back-to-back losses to the Roosters and Eels, Wests Tigers now face tough road trips in the next fortnight to the nation's capital to face Canberra and then up north to face Newcastle — knowing that they need results to keep their shot at a finals berth alive.

Returning to the side after a mentally tough and physically demanding State of Origin series, Mbye said it was a challenge the side was certainly aware of.

"We've got a tough road trip and a big challenge for us," he said.

"They're going pretty well and we need to try and get some momentum, and there's no better way to start that than this weekend.

"We were pretty thorough in our review of last week and we've pin-pointed a few certain things that went on and some things to focus on this week."

After coming off second best in his side's clash with the Raiders in Round 13, Mbye was moved to the centres by Coach Michael Maguire and has played all three matches since in the position. The Noosa Pirates junior has already assisted more tries there than his 10 previous games at fullback and said he felt more and more comfortable in the role, having also played there recently for Queensland.

"I think we're certainly making it work," Mbye said.

"We've got a few options. Thommo [Corey Thompson] has been playing some good footy and he's been quite effective at the back so it's good to fit him in there.

"I've been finding my feet in the centres and managed to string a few games together, but now we've just got to start winning games as well.

"I feel pretty confident there — at the end of the day it's rugby league. It's what we've been doing for our whole lives and it's what we're paid to do and it's what our job is — to go out there and perform in whatever role we've been given.

"We’ve got some really good coaching staff here with knowledge around the game and they've certainly been helping me out in that area.”

Match: Raiders v Wests Tigers
ROUND 18 - SATURDAY 20TH JULY

Mbye has improved since moving to centres...no denying that

I’d put it down to the injury as to why his form wasn’t all that great, if we don’t recruit a fullback for next season, I feel as though he will get first crack again.

Smith and thomo

Centre is the best option for him, as well as for the team at the moment. He just needs some time at Centre and fans need to be a little more patient and give him time to learn the position. Each of the backline positions are quite specific and playing Centre is not easy - I actually think he will be OK with a bit of perseverance .
As for Marsters, he looks soft in D to me as well as lazy at times, and all those that are suggesting he move to second row would want to be hoping he has a big change in his work ethic!

He cannot defend at centre. He cost us 2 tries last week. He cost QLD numerous tries too, including the series winner. He's not a centre.

Mbye and Jennings was the worst centre wing combo we've had all year, thank god Madge didn't let it last any longer for the sake of 'cohesion'

@TheDaBoss I don’t have High hopes for Smith. I hope I’m proven wrong.

I have seen nothing from him to get excited about either

@jirskyr I'd have to re-watch the highlights. I can't remember off the top of my head. But his opposing player scored a hat trick so even just from that alone it's not a good sign of his performance. From memory he was out of position on at least 2 of the tries, the first 2 i think.

Honestly that's not good enough for me, if you are going off memory only and haven't gone back to look a the tape. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but it's based on a single viewing?
