We lack leadership.

Twal should be getting groomed for that role.

He seems too quiet..
We need a mouthy player but in saying that under these new rules there’s less communication between players and refs

Defense really good....

The rest?

Leadership = literally non existent. Can anyone recall even one play in two years where Moses looked like a leader? I can't.

Extra effort? Never takes a dirty run or blocks out hard on a kick. This is our leader. Passive.

So...we basically have a pretty good, very passive, defensive center leading the joint...

When, in NRL history, has a passive defensive center lead a team to success?

Benji captained the side today...

They're meant to be co-captains aren't they? Regardless it wasn't really the performance of an inspiring leader.

Mbye is the workmate we all have that prepares well, talks well, performs solid and says all the right things. He just doesn’t have that will to win and dominate. Anyone in sales knows these people they are middle of the sales leaderboard and get appointed GM because they play the game. If a footballer could make it as a politician it’s Mbye. We paid top money for competent performance.

Sadly, true.

Moses is the type of bloke who will sleep well after a loss, not really care much about footy when it is not on and never bite anyone's head off.

Lovely bloke.

I have heard stories about him with fans and he really is a lovely bloke.

But is that what we want?

Benji is not a captain also. When 70% of your plays are poor ones and when you completely forget the game plan most weeks...you are not a leader.

No one in the pack is either.

Long term, Harry Grant would be PERFECT. He is already our best player / smartest by a mile.

But that won't happen obviously.

Not sure who else...Aloai? Packer would have been good had his career not of nosedived so much.

I don't think Mbye is our biggest problem. I agree with a lot of what most of you are saying, but the fact he's really solid in defense makes me OK with him being there for now.

Just needs to get more involved in attack.

I actually think Mybe is our biggest problem because he is the co-captain but does not inspire the players around him. If you look at other teams there captains lead by example either run meters, hard hit up when needed, kick in general play, 40/20, or a play to win the game when close.

I watched his press interview this week and nothing he said inspired me that he would do better this next game, and certainly placed no ownership for the loss last week like Brooks and AD.

He was signed for $3 Million on a 4 year deal by the Tigers - $750k season average and the dogs have had to put in $525k for 3 years - $175k season until this year in 2020. That puts him at $881,250 per season.
This was to be a fullback but he could not hold down that position, we signed AD for $600k a season so on that observation we are paying $281,250 extra per season playing centre or overall $1,125,000 over the term of the contract.

I have nothing against the player being a QLD supporter but i was also scratching my head last year when he obtained the utility role.

Will be watching with interest this week, i am hoping that for the team's sake he plays well but i think that after this season they may be looking to off load him considering the bulldogs wont be tipping anything in anymore next season and he might already know this with his general attitude.

That's my thoughts and always subjected to be debated.

Agree...<Mbye is not in any way inspirational

If Mbye is given some ball and someone running with him you will notice what a good footballer he is...IMO Benji has been to influential in this team being the club legend,so Mbye and others let him make the calls ..its as simple as that ...and now Madge has woken up...

Man , all the Mbye hate is just not fair. Gone are the days of your best attacking weapon being your centre. That’s literally why Latrell wanted to play fullback. You don’t touch the ball in the 3&4. Teams just don’t run early ball plays anymore. Most of the time it’s out the back , and the centre has to decide to draw and pass or go himself.
On the other hand , if you have a Joey type , a big unit who can crash over close to the line , then you buy that player.
Why you actually need , is a Morris type , who is handy in attack , but very solid defensively . But there’s times where you will watch a game and wonder what he did out there.
What he did was not allow any tries or breaks down his side , and force the attack to the other side of the field . Does this sound like Mbye on the weekend ? To me it does . They tried early down his side , then they said nope , and just kept heaving bombs up to useless Jennings . Which is a bit of a Hail Mary play. On the weekend it paid off for them. There’s no reason why Mbye can’t reinvent himself as a defensive wall , who can do enough damage with the ball to keep defenders honest. Sure that’s not the 750k player we bought . But it could be the 400-500k captain we have next contract moving forward. I feel like a his is the plan . And why BJ is on the other side of the field .

defensively Mmbye is great we dont leak too many points down his side and it would be great if he went to Nofo's side might help the defensive aspect of his game

i cant believe we are paying this bloke $950k a season. he does absolutely nothing
for us. and he is the captain.
