Mediocrity - Accepting It/Not Accepting It

There is a difference between accepting mediocrity and being a realist, realistically with our squad we should be closer to the bottom of the table than we are. We need to overhaul our squad massively, though we are hamstrung by terrible contracts. We need Reynolds off our books along with a few others, we are making those decisions and attempting to move those players. Being realistic about our position is not being accepting of it and being realistic is more likely to achieve successfully change than believing that people being realistic are accepting mediocrity, which is in my opinion just an argument that people use on here when they can't get other people to agree with their points of view!

Im talking about the mediocrcy of the club. So many fans have no expectations of the club. We have a CEO that cheated the cap and a lot think he's doing a great job. It's accepting crap.

My expectations of the club this year are not ladder position based, I expect

1. Madge to assess the current squad, I believe he has done this!


2. I expect us the club to try and improve the roster for next year. I believe we are trying to do this but we are incredibly hamstrung by some terrible contracts that we can not get out of so we have to look at areas we can get value for money. I have been told a number of times that believing we need to be making value for money signings such as Benji playing on is me accepting mediocrity.


I am not accepting mediocrity, I am realistic about our position and the moves that we actually can make. Would I like us to completely overhaul our squad for next season? yes. Is that going to happen? no.


This season is acceptable to me if we are attempting to improve this roster, which is far below what is needed to contend in the NRL!

I agree, Madge can only do so much with the crap Pascoe has handed him.

Great post. Gotta be honest, it's bloody tough mate. I think very few fans of other teams truly know how tough it can be, bar maybe the Eels and Titans fans.

But I'll never walk away. If we lose until the end of time then I'll just have to die a very unhappy man.

I agree, Madge can only do so much with the crap Pascoe has handed him.

And in all likelihood next year will be a very similar roster, the contracts we signed and the salary cap cheating has really hurt us for the next 2 years.


We NEED someone to pick up Reynolds and Packer for at least $300k each and use that money wisely to pick up some value for money upgrades. That is incredibly unlikely to happen though!
