Mediocrity - Accepting It/Not Accepting It

Genuinely believe we are just a couple of speedsters away from being decent.

Brooks, Benji and Mbye create enough for someone with actual speed to capitalise on.

Bring back Koro and JAC.

I have arranged my work to allow me to attend next Friday but at this stage I’m giving it a miss. Maybe by Wednesday I’ll reconsider

I booked my flights ages ago when we were winning and Knights were terrible. To make matters worse, my Mrs is a rabid Newcs fan. I hope we fire up or it will be a long night.

Yep young speedy winger, another prop and all rounder would do it. Christian Welch, Kurt Capewel have been mooted as possible signings and DWZ would have been on the money but circumstances stuffed that up.

We need front rowers, a lock, a centre and a fullback.

Most of our pack (Aloiai, Mikaele, Eisenhuth) are bench players at best. Twal plays minutes and is solid, but is never going to dominate a game. He is a cheaper harder working version of Woods.

Accepting mediocrity is likely part of our clubs long term problem. I honestly doubt it’s the main one.

Our society nearly always blames a nebulous third party. On each issue we find a group easy to criticise.

For climate change it’s the politicians. For debt levels it’s the rich, for obesity it’s food companies.

Yet underneath each issue is a series of personal choices by an individual. My choice to put the heater on rather than an extra jumper. My desire for a tax cut over tightening my belt. My love of milkshakes...

So what are the choices of individuals that I think lie at the foundations of our climb back to being a strong club?

On the surface I like Reynolds but think he lacks integrity. I dislike his choice to accept $150,000 per game over the last 2 years. I reject the change in our society that says “but you would do it in the same circumstances”.

He is paid to be brilliant. If he can’t do that he should take responsibility. He can’t say he is all about the team. He can’t say he cares about the Tigers.

I passionately reject an individual putting themselves ahead of EVERYONE associated with our club.

I also hold up Packer. His lack of effort relative to his pay packet has left us painful short.

I hold up Mybe. How can he look himself in the mirror as he takes home his pay cheque. How can he shake a young Tigers fans hand knowing he personally is taking more than his share and far far more than he is contributing.

30 years ago these players would never have been accepted as ‘good blokes’.

So what do they say to themselves? It’s okay because some guy from the club agreed to it on behalf of EVERY Tigers and even though ‘I’ haven’t delivered my part the piece of paper says I get the money.

SHAME ON THEM

We need more than a few players to change the culture that is this club.

I never used to miss a game, this season there's many I haven't caught... Regulry attended at least 6-9 games a year...... This year about 4.
Im losing interest.... The footy is boring.

We are fortunate imo in that we were 2 foundation clubs with a strong fan history.... If we began from scratch in 2000 I'd say we'd be obsolete by now... We are rusted on in a different way to a few Roosters fan of that foundation club, and we are rusted on very different to the fans a young gold coast of its varying versions

We are mediocrity across the board , both on and off field

We have got recruitment very wrong on many occasions , retention is even worse , how many top line players have we signed that don't stay or even re-sign once or end up leaving mid contract

People can try and re dress this club any way they want ......but we are almost rock bottom across the board and are a long way from of resurrection

Some on here don't want to face the truth .....but that how it is

The first 10 minutes of last night's game was a perfect example at what happens when this club meets a defining moment ......they face plant

@Mccarry I guess you don't take sick leave or accept your full wage if you make a mistake at work?

@momo_amp_medo

We need two very fast wingers, a fast centre, an impact prop with a bit of fire (someone like that young Bailey) and a running second row forward.
1. Papenhuyzen
2. JAC
3. Marsters
4. Douehi
5. Koribeite
6. Marshall
7. Brooks

@cochise There is a difference between taking sick leave and playing only 4 games in 2 seasons for 150k for every game missed , Mccarry has a point last week Reynolds had slight groin pain so did not play and received 150k and not again this week so 300 k nice if you can get it ..yes he has a contract but ethically it is not right !

What garbage! I want Reynolds gone and think he was a terrible signing but he is entitled to what our club owes him.

The one thing I have learnt is you don't take risks health wise for your employer

@cochise yep I take sick leave. Then it runs out. Then I make a plan.

I don’t expect unlimited sick leave. Do you?

What about workers comp? Would you take that?

@Snake yep, unfortunately ethics have changed dramatically in recent history. 1.5m in wages and 9 games played.

To many people swallowing Hollywood’s gangster line “it’s just business”

No, it’s not just business. Right and wrong is the same at work and at home.

@cochise nope. Existing injuries don’t count

I am sure he played some games for us and got injured in those games?
