Meeting of Magpie Members and Supporters

There a bunch of people who have committed to meet up.

I will personally accept a WT nsw cup team
with a few conditions. It has some merits… But financially WT do not currently fund either BRET or Magpies so there would be an expectation on Ashfield to help foot the bill for a WT NSW cup team. Its an interesting proposal and more complex given the number of shared board members on both Ashfield and WSDRLFC.

Not sure on that one Watto, but Galahs and whoever he can muster up will be voting against the merging of state cup sides.

Surely not willow!!

I was under the impression that galahs was seeking an open, unbiased & balanced discussion on the merits of the proposal so that members could make up their mind which way to vote!

I'm sure having this covert meeting at a "neutral" venue has nothing to do with antagonising or prosthelytizing to shove a pre-determined separatist agenda down the throats of a few feeble-minded morons who have an axe to grind against their own club!!

Irrespective of their stance on WT and particular issues, they are entitled to vote for what they feel is in the best interests of WSRLFC.

I'm just querying whether any of the proponents of the proposed State Cup merger will be present at this meeting to offer a balance to the stand-alone supporters CB??

If this is truly an information meeting for members surely both sides would be represented and available for questions from the undecided members!

However if NOT - as it appears - Galahs should come clean and make it clear that he & this meeting represent a breakaway faction who are not formally aligned to the WSDRLFC and whose position is to bloody-mindedly oppose a combined WT State Cup team regardless of WT's proposal!

The subterfuge about using a neutral venue to promote free speech is BS - if their stand-alone position has been pre-determined and is ultimately non-negotiable!!

Plus - I keep hearing about all the great facilities in the Cambo area - regardless of neutrality - if their focus was genuinely as local and community-based as they claim - surely there are any number of clubs (Bowling Clubs, RSLs etc) in the Cambo region that are not in any way aligned to the WSDRLFC - and could have provided a LOCAL option for this forum!

I can appreciate long time western suburbs supporters wanting to have a fair say and ensure that the west is not lost (so to speak), but I hope that these people also consider the ramifications of blocking the WT proposal and going it alone again next year. It will be a VERY sad scenario watching 20 or 30 people turn up to watch their local team have 50 or 60 points put past them each week. Who does that benefit? Because I see no tangible benefit in that whatsoever, no matter how people try and sell it.

willow - I'm not going to argue the merits or otherwise of the merged State Cup side in this particular forum strand out of respect! I agree with CB that members have every entitlement to vote as to what they individually consider to be in the best interests of WSDRLFC!

And I'd never attempt to sway a vote away from the best interests of that individual (or their perception of best interest)!

But I take issue at a propaganda session by a few disgruntled individuals (who cannot even find a neutral venue within the LGA/City they attest to represent) being promoted on this forum while being tarted up as an info session for members when only one side of the argument will be given any air!!!

I strongly question the motives of galahs - and suggest their long-term aim is to lay ruin to the entire Wests Tigers joint-venture franchise in favour of some ill-conceived self interest!!

Wont happen Willow. There will not be a repeat of 2012\. WT NSW cup team WILL happen with what 'conditions' remain to be seen.

It's my belief also, that this will be the case WTFL. Based on what has happened this year with the poor old Wests Magpies, I just can't see them going into next season in the same position and knowing that they'll be on a hiding to nothing each week if they brush the Wests Tigers offer of merging.

I've read many of your posts wtfl1981 - and can see that you're a fair-minded but loyal & staunch old Magpie (and now Wests Tiger)!

On that basis - you would have to concede that the Wests group have been burdened by poor management and in-fighting both before and since the inception of the JV??!!

You also appropriately used the word "perceived" in regards to the "Balmainification" (a term coined by a few partisan morons) of the joint!

Therefore I ask - will you be attending said meeting that promises to further splinter a dysfunctional club??

And also a question for galahs - as a BDRLFC member - would I be welcome to even sit in on the meeting as an observer without opening my mouth (as I do have a stake in this issue as a WT supporter)??

Please advise.

Cool.

I dont see what the big deal is. I think its a fairly common sense approach for Magpie supporters to discuss such a major issue before its voted on.

Sure. It's a free country last time i checked.

The location works well for me - any chance of explaining publicly why this alleged forum is occurring at Parramatta and not in the Campbelltown LGA???

I will also be bringing a digital recorder - I trust that will be okay given all the good faith that this meeting intends to imbue!!

Thanks for the history lesson. Appreciated it, really I do.

Thanks for your lack of understanding of what a basket-case your club was in 1999 - when Balmain allowed you a second life despite yourselves!!!!

YOUR CLUB WAS AN EMBARRASSING LAUGHING STOCK - WHO COULD NOT EVEN NAME A CAPTAIN WHO WOULDN'T LEAVE WITHIN 1-2 YEARS!!!

PARRA IS A JOKE FOR BRINGING IN KEARNEY AS COACH….... YOUR MOB GAVE HIM THE CAPTAINCY AS A 20 Y.O. AND HE SHAT ON YOU!!!

SAME GOES FOR BLAIR & TAYLOR - MEANWHILE TOMMY ONLY HAS WT TO COMMENT ON BECAUSE HIS 81-82 SALARY DECIMATED NEWTOWN BEFORE THEY WERE REMOVED AS FINANCIALLY UNVIABLE (DESPITE THE SUPPORT OF SINGO)!!!~!!!!!!!

Grow some brains & perspective before posting again cretin!!!

Hi all, I've been left confused by the last few pages. Can I ask a few questions for clarity please: 1) is this meeting an authorised meeting sanctioned by Wests, 2) as alluded to in other forums, is this meeting a rogue group of Magpies supporters looking to destabilise the JV? I have seen over recent days that the Wests Magpies twitter and facebook accounts have been shut down, is this related to either point 1) or 2)?

Wests name is being dragged through the mud and the NSW Cup team is an embarrassment, warranted due to many external factors, and now Balmain have their own dirty laundry being aired. At NRL we are doing OK but this is masking many issues bubbling underneath the surface.

I am really over the crap

Alf

This is not a meeting sanctioned by or authorised by any part of the Western Suburbs Magpies.

It is a group of Magpie supporters, some of whom are members, meeting to discuss the proposal for one NSW Cup team. As any exact details are not available to the public I personally see it as a little bit fruitless but I would like to assume that it's sole purpose is not to organise a voting block against the move regardless of it's eventual form.

I assume the Twitter & Facebook accounts were fan run and as such expressed opinions against the various boards and contrary to the position that any branch of the magpies represents. This is the usual reason for those occurences

highlander fair dinkum mate…our old clubs are no longer...most have moved on...yes i still love the balmain club and stick up for them all the time if someone puts them down but the future is Wests tigers the nsw cup is a low rate comp why continue to field 2 teams in it...wests ashfield could put some money saved into grass roots or something.

Short memory about what balmain did for you guys..

I agree when you say sticking up for team. I accepted WT from day 1\. I was a magpie before the JV. But please I have a short memory. WTF did Balmain do for us.
