As for Smith. …well he is just a low piece of s***. Lifting penalties are a dime a dozen....He knew it was serious. ...everyone knew it was serious without knowing the full extent.
Minimization of the situation to his team his sole aim.
Smith is a heartless grub who brings shame to the kangaroo jersey...The biggest cheat and con man the game has known.

Shut the hell up Ink. How would you know what Smith knew with regards to the injury? You have no idea. What an embarrassing comment.

Shut the hell up????
Lol

Anyone with half a.brain could see it was very very serious….without knowing the full extent

Oh shut up ink.....hahah.

Well Shane ,Smith could see Alex was in severe difficulty and struggling to breathe, you would think he would have been more concerned about the welfare of a fellow human being than a penalty…...as for the imature comment towards Ink..I think you should grow up,he was giving his opinion ...same as you did....

This is going to sound horrible - however it screams to me that Alex McKinnon is desperately trying to remain relevant. You don't see Simon Dwyer and Taniela Tuiaki pulling stunts like this.

Alex has his future secured. We know what happened. He may well walk again if he keeps to he rehabilitation. The constant re-visit of this unfortunate situation by the man himself is now starting to wear thin.

Remember, this is the same Alex McKinnon who effectively cornered his girlfriend in a public position when he proposed to her, ensuring that she really couldn't say no.

I'm done rising for Alex, sorry.[/

My suggestion to you is to remove the "under" from your user name, coz that's what you are.

What a Disgraceful, low life you are!

Oh stop getting personal, and grow up.

I'm not being personal about it - Cameron Smith was doing what any captain would do in the situation - and he wasn't wrong in doing it mind you.

If it was Robbie Farah we'd be up in arms here. But because Cameron Smith is not exactly well received in Tigertown/NSWTown it's an easy target.

Did you Forget the fact that Cameron Smith lead the "Rise for Alex" Advertising campaign? Grub or not on the field, he didn't have to back that.

Forget the fact that as stated the Melbourne storm independently raised Money for Alex's cause.

The timing right before origin is also interesting too…. and despite my current location, I do go for New South Wales.

Horrible Accident? Yes.
Brave young man for overcoming odds? Yes.
Constant re-visiting of the event nearly 18 months after it happened by channel nine and Alex? No thanks.

You're not getting personal UD.. Really??

You've accused this "same" Alex McKinnon of;

"Pulling stunts",

"Desperately trying to remain relevant".

And

"Cornering" his girlfriend into an engagement with a public proposal.

Your libel comments are ignorant and offensive on so many levels. It's obvious who the "grub" is

None of us were on the field at the time yet people are all experts. He was doing what every captain does. It's his job. Calling him a piece of S@%T and saying he brings shame to the Kangaroo jersey? Uncalled for in my opinion.

Shane,ok it may have been uncalled for re.name calling Smith, however Ink like many are giving their view or opinion on the topic at hand, how Ink sees the situation maybe different to yours or mine, but overall, wether emotions and feelings take over at the time he voiced how he has seen that particular situation…

Didn't watch it as 60 minutes aren't renowned for balanced journalism. I would also hazard a guess this coincides with a book release?

I will say is that Alex McKinnon is very fortunate that the Rugby League public and the NRL have got behind him and raised the money that they have to support him. Simon Dwyer has been forgotten by comparison and while he has the gift of his legs, there's no telling if he'll ever get use of his arm back, and it doesn't seem like the NRL are interested in helping him out at all.

Moreover, it's poor timing by 60 minutes also given a young man has only just died as a result of a tackle in the QLD Cup.

CB, if you do get the chance to watch it, it is a great story overall.

Take out the BS Journalism about Smith, Alex is a lucky man and I hope one day we all see him walking [to some extent] again.

It's disgraceful timing, but I'm sure 9 will get an extra few viewers now for Origin 3, and Alex will sell a few extra books. Not that they were motivations behind the story though.

Part of me agrees with both sides of the argument here. Fair enough for Alex to find any silver lining possible from this situation, but as others have stated, many have lost their lives or suffered similarly disabling injuries without this much media attention or community assistance.

No doubt this is a sales stunt for origin. Poor form from 9 and poor form from the NRL for having so little idea about the representation of their product.

In fact I wonder what purpose the NRL or ARLC really serves these days. Maybe it's because our team is so bad. I've never enjoyed the game less. The stupid cliches that come up every year about origin, about "the closest competition ever ", the lack of accountability for officials the ridiculous lack of grass roots support in the bush or pathways beyond holden cup.

At the end of the day the mckinnons and dwyers are cannon fodder and so are the fans who pour thousands into the game from their own money every year.

Really there are no winners except the tv networks, elite players and administrators.

Every captain would try to play the incident down at the time it happened… He was only trying to not get a penalty against his team and keep his player on the park.

Would've happened 10 times this weekend.

I disagree. This wasn't just another minor injury. I could even see that while watching it on tv at home. Smith was standing right there. A good captain would have shown some concern. He showed callous indifference to the serious situation unfolding in front of him. He was insensitive and lacked compassion.
I also believe Alex when he said Smith hasn't tried to get in touch with him. That's a cowardly act in my opinion. A simple text message would've sufficed. But then what to you expect from a man of Smiths calibre.

Smith's a grub, but in all real fairness, how many of us can hand on heart say that we've never said something or acted a particular way at one time in our life without regard for those around us, and gone on to regret it after the fact? I know I have.

Sure it was insensitive and lacked compassion, but we're all guilty of it at one point in our lives.

IMO there are no winners here…..typical disgraceful gutter journalism form 9/60 mins.

I dont watch their garbage and this just shows why.....just really low trying to pin this on a bloke who cant defend himself.

And i cant stand Cam Smith, and i think he was well out of line with the nagging the ref stuff, but to hang a human being out to dry like this is just plain wrong and i hope Smith is ok.

Yep a text or call wouldve made the difference:

"hey Alex… how you going? Hope every thing is coming along well."
"thats terrible. You shouldnt of ducked your head you monkey?"
"c'mon mate, thats not very nice"

seriously, its a horrible scenario but I doubt Alex would be interested!

I'm not a huge fan of Cameron Smith at all, and even less a fan of anything Storm related.

But, seriously, I think someone is going a little too hard at Cameron Smith for this. I certainly see not a lot wrong with the on field stuff and I'm sure many captains, even our own would be the same. No one knew the extent of what was happening at the time.

Probably guilty of not making a better effort to contact McKinnon and his family since, but who knows what he has been told and advised. McKinnon has every right to be angry about the hand he has been dealt in life and probably needs to focus on something with his anger. But I'm not sure Cameron Smith is fairly portrayed in all of this.

I wish Alex McKinnon and his family the best and hope he continues to recover. I also hope that Cameron Smith gets a fair go in all of this because it isn't fair for the rest of us to be angry with him and claim he is the sole cause of all things wrong.

How dare he try and play down the situation without actually knowing the seriousness of the situation to a Ref , Alex was actually telling Beau Scott who was 1st at his aid telling Beau " i can't breathe" you could hear it clearly.
It was already half time…..what could of cost Cam Smith and his team a penalty and 2 points with a kick at goal, but Cam Smith still wants to argue the point to the Ref that Alex put his head down and forced it upon himself and his not able to recognize that it was an illegal tackle that went wrong .
It wasn't intentional to hurt Alex but you have to pay for your accidents.

How long has it been ? and Cam Smith can't reach out to Alex even with a text and say " wishing you all the best.....thinking of you in your recovery " seriously is that real hard ?

I'm with you FT… 100%
