It looks as though there are a lot of posts on here from the Balmain side, with rather slanderous remarks directed toward the Wests side. I am on the Wests side of the joint venture and those remarks will tend to influence me should the opportunity to vote on either continuing of the joint venture or taking over and renaming the joint venture

Can you supply some specifics? I just re-read and can't really see anything controversial towards "the Wests side" let alone slanderous…..

Nothing controversial.

Just further invisibility.

We're glad you CLEARED that up

If we merge with parra the wests and balmain folk can join together and hate on the parra scumbag fans.

There is a common misconception that the only dinosaurs that support this team are from the Magpie side. Completely untrue. If that were the case, you wouldn't be corrected for calling the team Wests. I'm not complaining about that, but fairs fair. I think the most disgusting insult I've ever read from either side, maybe the most disgusting insult I've ever heard period was from a Balmain fogie who in a Wests v Balmain debate said at least Balmain never had a player dumb enough to drown in the ocean. I don't mind people calling out Wests dinosaurs, cos there's heaps, what I don't like are people conveniently overlooking the dinosaurs from the Balmain side.

Bagging out Dallas is lower than a snakes gut.

We have already merged so I don't think that will be on the table again.

However relocation could be considered. We have been a very poor club for performances for 30 years if you consider Balmain and Wests last 10 years. Balmain are broke and were playing at 3 home grounds and have a poor roster and low memberships. I could not blame the NRL if they say sorry guys time is up.

Perth or QLD and all of sudden you are not the battlers from Sydney but have some attractions and money. People will probably hate on these comments but how long do you keep flogging a dead horse? We are perenial losers/battlers in Sydney for 3 decades.

I would hate to see the team move but maybe it is not as silly as it sounds

Hey guys,

Just saw this after being a long time viewer, and i thought id weigh in considering i am a Parra fan.

The issue with the merger is that we have no reason to, we are financially viable, and our memberships are one of the highest in the competition, both of which have grown during one of our clubs weakest periods. We lost arguably the best player in the world during the past off season and have performed admirably throughout the season, we suffer from the same pain as you guys. Too many young players without the right guidance. We have got that now through the leadership of Choc, BA and the incoming signings of Foran, Scott and Gordan.

We went through our poor period of administrative incompetence. We were just lucky to have a financially viable organisation funding our club, as well as a huge spike in memberships during that period. The modern era is very hard to a club to claw its way back up.

From the outside looking in, the issue for your club is a need for relocation to some extent, i honestly believe that you guys should move 3 or 4 games to another area to generate some extra revenue due to the lack of support from the Balmain venture. The NRL need to be questioned by you blokes, they have come in and are currently 'freaking out' and sending bad vibes out into the press. They are there to fix the issues not make them worst.

I really hope for the sake of both proud clubs of the JV, that they haven't just jumped on your board in order to control its downfall, so that they can move you to perth, or another region.

Not sure that has got anything to do with being a Balmain or a Wests dinosaur -affectionately referred to as supporters who live in the past . That says more about the attitude of a very misguided human being.

I was referring to the way Dallas Donnelly died

He drowned due to having an epileptic fit while swimming in the surf

Saw Tommy talking about Dallas last week on Sterlo , saying how he played one of his best ever games only a day after having an epileptic fit before a Manly game

Slanderous remarks, really 😱pen_mouth: Examples please, otherwise please don't try and start any Balmain V Wests crap. It's old, tired and won't be tolerated. We're the Wests Tigers, nothing more, nothing less.

Wtf does this thread even exist? Is the NRL trolling this board?

And why do all the knobheads only come out on here when we're having a rough trot? I mean, if the club is so awful don't devote so much of your time to it then.

Yes….
The game has too many teams in the west of Sydney as is.
Scrap the Wests Tigers. They are a debacle. Im a Balmain fan and wouldn't miss them. And realistically they have, and always will be the lowest on the ladder out of ALL western sydney teams.
Bring in Perth and work on PNG
Piss Cronulla off also. Merge them with St George.
If you can't admit to this you are deluded.

No,It's hard to believe there is another NRL club that is a bigger basket case than WT,factional in fighting is Parra's biggest problem, apparently the Eels have four separate factions that all want sole control of the team which would only magnify if a merger happened.
Fitzgerald wanted Balmain to merge pre WT soley for the marketing aspect of the tiger emblem, which Balmain viewed more as a take over more than a JV with Parra.
Perth maybe viable in the future but logistics and foresaking the current heartland need to be considered first before relocating.

Thank you for illustrating my point almost immediately. Everyone falls over themselves to jump on any post that is pro Magpies and anti Balmain, yet at the same time whistle and pretend they don't notice posts that are the other way around. Proves people are hypocrites.

As the Parra fan points out they have far less reason to merge with us. The true barrier to merge is as the Parra fan says - could we get 50/50 ie why would they merge on an even basis. The Parra fan provided the most rational argument for the no case.

It's hard to make decisions about a football club. It's such an emotional topic. Just come and see me in my lounge room during a Friday night game and I will show you…

Facts are facts people. On paper, separated from emotion something fundamental needs to change. It sounds like support for a merger isn't there. Personally I would hate to be relocated.

A new CEO is not fundamental change. It is possible we hire a Noah, but even he would struggle as its already been raining for years.

Think on this... In the past 6 years how many young fans would we have picked up? The clock is ticking friends. Crowds will keep going down. Membership next year will go down. Depth will be worse.

Only upside - Harry funding TPAs? That would be great.

For those that hated this thread, sorry.

Have to say McCarry while I understand your frustration and appreciate your a passionate supporter, I am one that hated the thread. There are no mergers left for the Wests Tigers especially in Sydney(imo) - take over maybe. What this topic does is allow for lots of self destructive talk and while that may end up being a reality at some stage, I am not totally delusional - I dont think its productive especially if other clubs and fans start repeating the talk AND who quite frankly couldnt care less if we survived or not. Infact our demise would more than likely make them stronger. However that's what a forum - is all about sharing your views, some we like, some we dont.

As someone has said previously,we have already merged, why merge again…
The most interesting thing for me is,when the merger took place I was dubious about it because I was from the Balmain side and so I feel the Magpies were as well...but we have proven that our bonds are very strong because now we are the WESTS Tigers..we have been through some tough times and there could be more to follow, but we have stuck together even though some still tried the old them against us trick..which has now almost completely gone( thank God for that)..
If we are to believe that this new board is taking us in the right direction albeit we will lose some skin falling over on the way,but we pick ourselves up and surge ahead, won't that make us even more proud that we have stuck by each other and our team and club is going to be a force in the years to come...you can't tell me that we haven't had harder times than this before...ok the results on the field aren't great, but we were told early on not to expect great things,it will take time..

My big dream is to see more kids become fans of the WESTS Tigers as well as families and other people wanting to support a rugby league team..to be honest most kids don't know the reasons for the them v us ..they only know WTs and that in itself is a good thing..our pasts are in the history books and can be searched anytime,in the mean time we must fly the Wests Tigers flag as high as we can,we do not give in easily ..I really think if we tread water for a while until things get better financially, good things wil happen for us...
As for the merger with another club or relocation..I won't support it one bit, untill all our problems have had a chance to be dealt with in a professional and business like manner and there is no other way...

I apologise for the passion in my post, but that's just me,I don't give up on something easily without all options being exhausted...cheers guys...
