Meriton for another year/membership up

Confirmation this morning.

Ball park figure is a million for the season in sponsorship in the Herald

Good

Harry may only be a sponsor, but by the sounds of the article WT put in a big effort to please him.

Harry is doing this out of passion and love for the team, so if he's happy then i'm happy

Tried to join but the online process was poor . When it looked like I was joining the Dogs ( someone else mentioned this), i exited quickly. I then rang the Tigers, was transferred to another line, waited 5 minutes with no response and hung up. Obviously the NRL are ( poorly) controlling the online registrations. The non answer at the Tigers end by phone was not good. Tigers need to visit an AFL club , any one, to see how to recruit members. The AFL do this so much better. I will probably try again but I wonder how many will give it one go and not bother again.

We simply have a very small membership department. As we grow we can afford to invest more in that department but right now it is what we have.

My membership processed fine but I just had to clarify a few things. I sent a email and they got back to me within a couple of days.

If people have a problem and can just be a bit patient I recommend the email option as you will get a call back

Surely the membership department could hire a fre temps for the busy periods (i.e. when the memberships are first released, lead-up to Xmas, February)? The issues are frustrating for rusted-on supporters on this forum, imagine what a first time member thinks. Not much point doing a marketing campaign if this is your follow-up.

I would imagine there were big hopes the NRL managed web based system would work more efficiently then it has.

Plus it is very hard to manage the demand of the rush times. They could hire 4 temps and there would be no guarantee that the demand would be met and quality control may suffer.

It is a difficult fix.

I remember the first time I became a football club member I had to send away in the mail for it after waiting for the form to be mailed to me

I haven't encountered too many problems on the phone yossarian? I called yesterday 10 minutes before 5, no problems getting through quickly and had a helpful lady sort everything out.

Edit: Online has been very poor though, i suspect we are one of the first clubs to start the process so the NRL hasn't fixed up the site 100% yet or something. But still, the NRL and tigers really needs to compare themselves to the AFL and see how they approach membership drives.

Thats called being professional and pro-active Yoss.
I don't blame the staff as they are only doing their job the best they can.
The buck stops with management.

Harry Triguboff, the billionnaire property developer, said he expected Wests Tigers to be an NRL powerhouse within three years after reaffirming his long-standing commitment to the club as major sponsor.
Meriton, of which Triguboff is the founder and managing director, will continue its long association with the Tigers next season. **The new deal, agreed in principle,** was sealed in the Meriton offices last Friday, and is understood to be worth close to a million dollars for next year, handing the financially struggling club a much needed boost.
Triguboff had been concerned enough about the club's direction that he publicly stated in August that the Tigers should look for a new major backer. But having been given a glimpse of the club's plans – with critical stability next year in the coach's box as well as the boardroom – Triguboff agreed to back the Tigers again.
"I like the management and I like the coach," Triguboff told Fairfax Media. "And because we see so many young ones coming along, they have new spirit now. They want to prove themselves. The young players coming through are very interesting.
>
"I think that [Mick] Potter, who is the coach, has to be given a chance – so far I haven't seen him do anything silly.
"And I agree with his decisions at this stage."
Asked if he had faith in the club's vision, Triguboff said: "They have a vision – now to see if they can do it, though."
Triguboff said he had a firm belief that the Tigers could have some significant success in the next few seasons.
"It will definitely be a lot better than last year but I think it will take two to three years for it really to be a powerhouse," he said. "But we are prepared to wait, and we think that we'll succeed."
Tigers deputy chairman Nick Di Girolamo said Triguboff had been enthused by the potential of the youngters at the club.
"Harry has been a long-term and passionate supporter of Wests Tigers," Di Girolamo said. "He wanted to be happy with where the club was heading. Harry was really happy with the playing group, the young blokes like [Luke] Brooks, [Mitchell] Moses, [Tim] Simona, [Marika] Koroibete and [David] Nofoaluma. He thinks 'Teddy' [James Tedesco] is a superstar in the making and, of course, he is a massive fan of Robbie Farah.
"And he actually asked me about the coach. I assured him that we had announced the new coaching structure – Mick Potter's the head coach, David Kidwell comes from Melbourne to join Todd Payten [as assistant coaches]. There's stability there.
"We're looking forward to the coaches getting on with being coaches."
The one-year deal comes just over a month after Triguboff questioned that stability following suggestions of boardroom in-fighting between Wests and Balmain and doubts about the financial health of the joint venture. But with the Tigers agreeing to a new independent board in exchange for NRL funding, Triguboff was convinced to continue his support.
The businessman, in fact, believed he could play a significant role. "I had been concerned but the two sides have to stick together," Triguboff said. "By my association, I hope they will achieve this."

All I can say is….LOL!

See I read that as it was agreed in principle but was sealed last Friday.

Somewhat ambiguous writing

Should re introduce the days from when Harry sponsored Balmain and he would hand out cash in the dressing rooms after a win with all the players chanting, Harry Harry Harry that that brings on a harmonious dressing room although I think the salary cap auditors may disagree.

I'm more going by comments on the forum. From what I hear the staff themselves are great but run off their feet and hopelessly overworked. The online business really is unacceptable. It's not like memberships are a new thing. Surely there's plenty of time to develop something that works effectively - people in the burbs on Ebay seem to be able to get better results!

Agree 100%. They need help at peak times but understandably the club doesn't people sitting around doing squat for long periods. Seems like an obvious solution to me…

Youre speculating quite a bit there yoss…..maybe give it a rest until you know what youre talking about

How many people are dealing with memberships?

Very happy that Harry has continued as he had no obligation to do so, Harry sells apartments to high end Asian emigrates and other investors but fell in love with the whole Tiger thing back in the Super Greed days, he knows that the average fan will never buy a unit but the 'brand' is out there, he was mighty pissed off at not being a part of the Balmain Tigers re-development, and rightly so as we all know how badly that has been handled!
With Harry in charge who knows if he could have gotten around all the obstacles but I think from what I've read he would have been right up to the challenge, it's a pity that he can't jump in like a Knight in Shining armour and resolve this shit fight once and for all.

Yes indeed … Very obvious !

Wow, Harry's worth 5 bilion! If i was that rich i'd just buy the club to be honest, fire the board and get some independent directors and pour money into it
