Michael Gordon

Sharks are shooting themselves in the foot

You have to look after your cattle , if you don't you will eventually pay the price

Seems like they just don't care , this is the same club that allowed outsiders to drug their players and possibly speed up the death of another

Absolute disgrace

Reminds me of when that bloke with the orange beard at the Titans was forced to sit out games by the Titans because he had a "hit 13 games, gets a bonus" clause in his contract, that they didn't want to activate, despite him being a cut above the players trundling on in his position.

Where this isn't as callous as that it looks like the sharks are running him into the ground.

Having said that, you could argue we did the same thing to Andrew Fafita before releasing him.

Well Happy it is unbelievable the way some clubs are going in the NRL,they don't want or need him apparently but don't want anyone else to have him….very selfish attitude on behalf of the Cronulla Sharks...

Kirk Reynoldson, if played one more game, it meant a contract extension…..terrible.

What about him at Fullback and Teddy to the centres?

"MICHAEL Gordon has sensationally walked out on Cronulla after the club promised him a release to Parramatta and then reneged.

Gordon failed to show at Cronulla training this morning after taking advice from the NRL Rugby League Players Association yesterday.

He was seeing a psychologist today, under instructions from the RLPA, to determine the impact on his mental health.

After viewing a transcript of the interaction between Flanagan and Gordon’s manager Andrew Purcell the RLPA has told Gordon he has a strong case to be released.

Gordon told Cronulla football manager Darren Mooney he could no longer work with Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan after a series of broken promises fractured their relationship.

The Sharks appealed to Gordon to have a week off before returning but Gordon is adamant the relationship is beyond repair.

Parramatta agreed to a deal with Cronulla’s two-time Player of the Year late last month but saw the deal evaporate when Cronulla officials learned Flanagan was negotiating with Parramatta without their knowledge.

The club released a statement saying it was not in the business of releasing player mid-season and that Gordon would stay.

However Gordon is paying the cost for Cronulla’s recruitment of Ben Barba, with both players sharing time on the field.

Flanagan realised the situation was unworkable and that Barba needed to have more time on the field given his high price tag.

When the Eels showed interest in Gordon he agreed to release him given his service to the club and because Parramatta had agreed to offer him a contract for 2016, a deal the Sharks could not match."

He's really nothing special…
How old is he?
No thanks.

Maybe 5 years ago.

Opposite of who we should be attracting.

Get guys between 19 and 26 for the most part, with 1 or 2 veteran forwards for leadership. Michael Gordon is old and not very good anymore, he used to be very good but so was Lawrence. Times change.

i quite like him.. would be a good signing for us anywhere in the 1-5\. definitely, won't let us down and does provide experience, stability and goal kicking if required post richards.

but if he wants out, chances are he's already signed with another club unfortunately..

So now they're saying it's not true.
He hasn't walked out on anything and MG is upset about what has been said,
LOL.

I wonder how long Flanagan will last as coach there ? Seems to be a lot of bad blood between coach and Ceo.

The fact that Flannagan survived the ASADA is a miracle, the contempt he showed when interviewed during that time was terrible.

Yeah, absolute joke, some good people forced out of the Sharks for trying to do the right/moral thing and the core of the problem, trying to gain a chemical advantage over rival clubs, are all still there.
