Michael Maguire leaves club

The simple reality is they didn’t see Madge here long term. To ensure our recruitment and retention for next year is not affected they need to have a coach locked in for the next 3 years so players can be sold the coaches vision. You get rid of madge now and appoint hopefully ciraldo or John Morris who can do the talking behind scenes to convince players to come here or to not leave. Would everyone rather we played out the year and then punted him?

I’m suprised everyone is so shocked when we are 3/12 and have lost this year to Newcastle, warriors and titans. Have we become so used to mediocre that we see putting effort but not winning as now acceptable.

So with such a ridiculous line of thinking from sheens does that mean the next coach signs a 3 year contract and if things arent working as planned after 1 year he'll have to be sacked as we dont see him being here in 3 years.
Or does sheens use the get out clause of we didnt expect anything in the 1st year anyway.
Yeah they’ve just covered themselves for the next 3 years. In saying this is a 3 year rebuild (sound familiar?), the club now has no pressure to achieve anything this year, not make the 8 next year, and then if we don’t make it into the top 8 in the next 2 years thereafter, it doesn’t matter.

It will just be the same situation we’ve found ourselves in for the last decade and Sheens will probably retire anyway. There won’t be any accountability if they fail again.

Asked if Maguire is on his hit list, Robinson said: “No he’s not.

“I don’t really know Michael Maguire but he didn’t get results at the Wests Tigers, so we’re not going in that direction.

“He is also coaching New Zealand and I don’t want a coach who has his fingers in other interests like a national team.

“I’m not interested in that.

“It takes the focus off your own club, so I will be looking elsewhere.”
Wow

Thanks mate.

I thought it was a coach that improved young players, helped them find their best position, told them what they needed to work on. It is pretty vague and has become a buzzword after Penrith's success.
Ivan Cleary hired a bunch of experienced players when he came to the Tigers and hardly set the world on fire.
The value of those players he paid overs for was seen in their effort plays. All forwards ran over 100mts with tackle efficiency rates in the high 90s. Its what helped Brooks get his Dally M. It was a short term solution though.

Here’s old Dennis, @stryker 69 s favourite WT director.

I remember he had a number of hits in the Sydney indie scene back in the day

“ Chunder on me Angel”

“ Wheelie Bin of Love”

“ No officer it wasn’t me, it was my girl”

He saw Justin’s haircut and threads, liked the cut of his jib and made him CEO.

He will get the shock of his life, when he cleans up and finds out that his bad mushroom trip on the wests tigers board is actually real.

I think he should quit the board and take up a new role as a roadie.
I'm not sticking up for Dennis as I know nothing about him.
But have you blokes that are putting shit on him actually met him?
Do you know if he is a smart cookie or not?
Just because he has long hair etc doesnt necessarily mean he has no business talent does it?
I reckon the whole place is now a shit show.
There’s was no putting of the shit on Dennis I was just trying to have some fun.

It’s been a tough 24 hours. I backed Madge and I lost but I am not abandoning the club. I won’t hear of it.

My own review would see a lot of more of the board sacked before Dennis.

If I have a weakness for any official, it’s a very sad addiction to actually having a second of the time of day for bloody Pascoe.

Ive tried to go cold Turkey, but I keep feeling sorry for him.

I know it makes me an outcast and renders me friendless, but I can’t help it.

I want to hear about the review? When will we hear something? I mean apart from the blame shifting. We need a development board.

The so called review is smoke and mirrors, Sheens was hired to fire Madge ,because somebody had to do it,they didn't have the guts at the last review. Sheens is saying 3 years ,it just happens to coincide with the end of his own deal.

We hired Madge as a "Premiership Winning" coach, now we need a "development" coach? What the hell is everyone in the pathways system doing if not developing players? If this was a known deficit of Madge's coaching, why not hire an assistant coach to specialize in development years ago.
If we hire a development coach, who is the Man Manager coach? The Motivational coach, the Coach that brings in the big names, the Tactician, the Strategist, the Roster Manager?
It is all just rubbish, sacking the coach is the easiest things to do and it puts the blame on one person. It just more of the usual dumbassery.
Since Brooks debuted in 2013 this is the list of players that have come through the so called pathways system .
Since 2017 only one player has come through ( Seyfarth) so what the F was the scarecrow and Ivan doing ??
And Madge being the only coach to actively fix it yet he gets punted . Total shit show of a club

Just read on zero tackle Madge, Wolff are favourites for the Warriors job. They are after someone who is hard nosed, right up Madges alley.

The Warriors have said they don't want Madge, " He didn't get results at the Wests Tigers so why would we chase him" or words pretty close to that, not a glowing endorsement for Madge

Madge has dodged a bullet there.

If it’s based on record, then Flanno has to be top of their list

Rules out Woolfe for them too.
Wonder if Ciraldo really isn’t interested in heading over the ditch? If Ivan was in his ear, he’d be endorsing the idea as that was where he got his start.

Coach Sweepstakes (skirting wide on a few here, maybe all)
Dogs - Madge (& Hastings) - Gus strikes again!
Warriors - stick with old tongue twister, Stacey Jones
Tiges - Ciraldo
.... late additions
Knights - the Wolff
Titans - Cam Smith

In the same article it says a warriors faction is pushing for Paul Green. No decision will be made at warrior for at least a month as owner is going overseas for a holiday.
