I wouldn’t say he has to go, but he did nothing to warrant an extension.

Spot on

From the above article.
The halfback is currently on a four-year contract worth $2.4 million, expiring at the end of 2023.
By my reckoning that’s $600,000 a season?
So where does $850,000 get plucked from?

The whole team deserves criticism for their effort but with all the straight shooting on here, I haven't read too much about the players' failure to back up in support.

Whoever mentioned the team camaraderie when Ivan bought over Matulino, Packer, Corey Thompson and co. and their ability to dig deep and capably do their role for the team - despite not being the best players - is correct.
Those lot played their best almost every time, despite their shortcomings.
It's not just Brooks failing to live up to expectations, every recruit we've bought have ONLY been tasked with helping get the team to make the 8 ...yet fall short. Every single time.
Our own top talented juniors and better teams couldn't even get on with it.
C'mon unless we're getting players at the top of their game with a winning edge, we ain't gonna be a force.

How hard is it to keep the motivation of helping a team play finals footy? Cos not many recruits have the competive drive or skill to help us achieve this. Is the pressure too much for them too? It's not exactly mammoth task.

No idea. I was replying to @GNR4LIFE comment

I just read an article in nine msn....Johns and Fittler both slammed Brooks about playing 150 games in FG and still makes silly errors and puts pressure on his team mates and it apparently drives them insane when the forwards have worked hard in attack and go forward only for Brooks to kick the ball dead 3 times...thats why their dead on their feet in the last 20 they have worked hard...

There was also mention how the board just extended Madges contract and said if they did that then the coach is not the ""problem""....

If that's what they said, I think that's fair and I can handleh that.

It's certainly better than some of the slurs and insinuations that have come out of their mouths in the past.

Our problem is coaching and recruitment I’d be having a good look at Flanagan if Madge fails this year.

I'm happy for you to look at drug cheats - as long as the Tigers don't sign them.

Madge has proven to be a divisive coach in every job he’s had. You either love him or hate him.

Right now the boys look rattled and I don’t think Madge has any of them on his side.

He also hasn’t proven to be able to adjust the game plan when the going gets tough like Bellyache and Robbo can.

If we roll into round 8 with less than 4 wins, I can see the axe falling.

I can't, but I can see it falling on a few players.

I think many of our players need to learn to love playing the game again
To many its just a job that they get paid very well for
The pressure that some of these players are under must be enormous
Especially Brooks and to a lesser extent Mbye
It's an enormous weight to carry and its getting worse every game we lose and season out of the finals
The only thing left is for Madge to tell these guys to go out and have a little fun
I think Brooks is so tense because of the constant pressure he his under that he can't feel, and doesn't realise how hard he is kicking the ball
He needs to settle down a little when we get close to the line
If Brooks can't handle that then the kicking must be given to someone else

There was mention somewhere of Brooks possibly going to hooker
I think that will be the next option for him
That means a new partner in the halves with Doueihi
But who
I am happy with Laurie at fullback and think he needs to stay there
Maybe Talau in the halves with Doueihi could be the answer for now
It's a bit like Matterson at the Roosters
At the end of the day I think Brooks days in the halves are numbered
To to look at other options within the club this year and outside the club for next year

Sorry Luke

This is a dumb thread. He just signed a contract, the club clearly believes in him, he's going no where this season. Let's wait and see how we are going 3/4 through the season, not after two weeks.

Maybe in your opinion but the Tigers should have considered Demetriou when we had a chance in 2018.

Old boy that rose threw the ranks and gets our club.

Madge doesn’t.

And they didn't consider Demetriou is that right?

I think they did and thought that Madge was a lot better. I also think we have had enough of the "Old Boys"

How do you know he gets our club? How do you know Madge doesn't get our club?

I think Madge is fully aware of everything in our club - that's why he is trying to change it!

What he gets is that we have had a loser mentality for years.

If I'm Maguire I would say thanks for the opinion/advice but how did you two genius' coaches lose the unlosable origin series with a team of stars against what was considered the worst QLD squad in history?

Sounds better on NRL360.

Sorry Luke

I just want to say one thing re your post cairns, and I love your input...
However,Luke should be composed after 8 years in the NRL system,I dont care about confidence, team mates making mistakes etc etc he has had plenty of time to hone his kicking skills that he can consistently put the opposition under pressure, once again the overhyped next Joey Johns just cant handle the week to week pressure...and it doesnt mean the coach is no good,it means Brooks cant hold his composure over a sustained season when its his job to control and lead the team around the park....2.4 million says he has to come up with consistency or his contract is evaluated...

Madge needs to go despite your negative posts I can't believe your supporting this coach. His no good he's the one that has the final say to his players. Do you want to see the tigers hand the wooden spoon his no good and while ever his the coach we will never do any good. You can't see the big picture here theirs probably alot of supporters disagree with my posts it's only my opinion if only you can see that madge can't get the tigers going and needs a fresh coach he won't last long in any case. The board won't put up with a continued loss all the time

Completely agree,he is done.
Can’t really argue otherwise with results we have dished up with him as head coach.
I’m sounding extremely pessimistic, but our defence is up there with the worst I’ve ever seen, last year was no different.
We look slightly better with the ball. Not sure who can take credit for that.Maybe it’s too early to say.I don’t know 🤪
Storm pretty much crossed the line every time they went out wide last night.
