but anyone who undervalued leadership on the field can now surely see how essential it is.

It depends what you mean by leadership. On field generalship and quality plays from your halfback are key to your team winning.

I don't rate leadership as an unclear concept.

Adam Reynolds for instance shows leadership on the field. He comes up with the big plays.

Finucane is my favourite example of leadership being overrated.

Imagine when Api comes in and creates more space around the ruck with Stefano running into it then Hastings and brooks out the back with cut out balls to doughi in the centre position
I was just thinking this. If we could upgrade on Laurie it would be a pretty lethal spine. Not sold on Laurie yet as it feels like he is going to keep getting injured.

You don’t get it Earl. The Sharks are flying after adding Finucane and Hynes. Add Talakai in there too. Leadership is about more than how you actually play.

Playing well is definitely part of it but I think every other player has played better when Hastings is in the team. Being able to lift players around you is to me a key ingredient of being a leader. Like culture, it’s hard to measure. Why can’t those players just play like that without him? Of course it could be just coincidence.

It’s no coincidence. He demands better from his teammates. Same as Finucane types do.

Finucane leads by example and will inspire other like minded players.
Hastings is all about communication something we have obviously lacked for some time.

I know it's only a couple of good performances but given the difference in the quality of the teams they have been up against the difference he has made to the team in those two wins is remarkable. I don't know if it can be sustained with injuries and lack of depth, but anyone who undervalued leadership on the field can now surely see how essential it is.
I remember during our heated debates over the 5 captains, some were arguing it doesn’t matter who was leading the side.
The wins have come through the leadership of Tamou at club level and Hastings on the field.
Leadership is EVERYTHING in a team environment, be it work or sport.

Hastings makes a massive difference. This week Hastings didn't ball play in the middle of the park as well as he did the previous week but he still comes up with big plays at the right time.

We haven't had a half that can come up with quality plays as consistently as Hastings does.

He is not perfect but as i have said before he is the right coach to put the right culture and belief into our club.It is tough to take and undoubtedly we will have more crashes but he is what we desperately need to achieve long term success
Yeah it's sad but culture is whats it's all about with us.

Cleary was right about getting everyone on the bus. He walked in and saw nobody cared about the joint. Troble is he walked out albeit with unusual reasons re his son otherwise I don't think he would have left.

And in comes Madge struggling with adapting with the rule changes from South's days but a believer in loyalty, having a go and not playing favorites or permanently banishing blokes either, showing the love, showing the faith sticking with his boys long after some of them may have given up on him and his slowly rebuilding a club people want to play for, play with eachother for eachother sticking by misfits.

Looking at Tamou who has been around one could see he was tired of him almost felt sorry for Madge . Madge almost made him too embarrassed not to put in with his loyalty.

Him giving Liddle and Gildart another go last night when most would have passed on them and put other blokes out of position in their spots payed off, looking at the hunger of Liddle chasing down and stopping that try is a look of a bloke who wants to repay the faith. Guys busting to help their mate will build this team.
He is the right man for us. Some credit to management for sticking with him.

But more credit to him for sticking with us.

There are leaders that provide direction and take responsibility on the field. There are also leaders that you don't want to disappoint, so you put in as much effort as they do on and off the field.
